I was going through a list of impending NFL free agents and looking at who was going to get resigned, tagged, etc. and saw Tyrod's name pop up for the Ravens and started thinking about where he might wind up. Does leave for a situation where he at least has the chance to compete for a starting gig, does he resign with the Ravens and continue to backup Flacco?
Not too long ago Tyrod was thought of as one of the more intriguing backup NFL QB's in the league, mostly due to preseason games where he made second and third team rookies and journeymen look silly. His "buzz" seemed to fade quite a bit when Flacco was injured last year and Tyrod had an abysmal game as his replacement. Cam Cameron and the lovefest he had with Tyrod is no longer on staff for the Ravens. I think Tyrod still has a shot at a starting job but it's usually about cashing in when your name is hot (see Cassel, Kolb, Flynn, etc.)
What do you guys think?

I would love to see him in a Chip Kelly offense. But I think if Rex Ryan gets him on the Bills he can push (hopefully surpass EJ Manuel). I think he'd be a backup in Philly but maybe start in Buffalo.
on the eagles would great.
Minnesota. I said they should've taken him when he was in the draft, and I think he'd make a great backup for Bridgewater.
Or replacement
Nope, Teddy is da bomb, no chance they'd bring someone in to start over him.
Follow Kubiak to Denver and beat Osweiler for the starting job if Peyton retires.
As a Denver fan, this would be a wet dream come true.
This will be highly unpopular, but if he doesn't get a legitimate shot as a starter somewhere like Philly or Buffalo, then I think the perfect place for him would be Seattle. Think about it. Russell Wilson is pretty much the only starting NFL QB with the same skill set and style of play as Tyrod. The Seahawks wouldn't have to worry about drastically changing the offense for the back-up, should something happen to Wilson. Hell, they could work out some trick play packages with both of them on the field at the same time. Who's the back-up QB there now?
Tarvaris Jackson
I said this a couple years ago. But the Redskins and Ravens should have traded Tyrod and Cousins. They each mirror the other QB well (meaning your would have to install a different offense with each). Obviously that's off the table now.
I would say he goes to someone that runs a zone-read style offense where is will have a chance to start.
Not Dallas please it would break my heart! :(
E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles.
Anywhere but Dallas. I think he could find a good gig in Washington, since RG3 isn't exactly lighting the world on fire and you're not exactly bringing in a guy who is going to necessarily "push" RG3's limits as a threat to start. At least not yet. Only problem there could be how Gruden doesn't seem to love running QBs or anyone with remotely similar traits to his current starter.
As much as I hate the Eagles, I think that could be a good fit. But finally, the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets could be a cool story, assuming MV7 doesn't decide to hang em up for good. It'll be interesting to see how they handle their QB situation, cause I don't believe Mariota will be sitting there with the sixth pick. We will see.
Take over for Andy Dalton!
Noooo thank you. I enjoy Dalton too much in Cincy. Like Johnny Football in Cleveland, they'll never win a playoff game with him. Now if we could just get Flacco out, the Steelers would be sitting pretty with a guaranteed 6 wins every year in division
Where ever he goes, if he does not have a legitimate shot as a starter, perhaps the best place would be to either stay with the Ravens or quit and start his coaching career. I know only one thing for certain, because of that ridiculous ($$$) contract that Flacco has with the Ravens, economic forces dictate that Flacco stays as the starting QB in Baltimore.
And the fact that Flacco is apparently indestructible. I won't wish injury on anyone but how many games has he been injured in his career? They thought enough of Tyrod to re-sign him once, but why do it again when you can get a rookie to not-fill the same shoes?
I would want him for my Washington team, but then I'd know his career is over since any person under Snyder is doomed to fail.
I'd like to think that Tyrod's reaction to this post would look something like this:
Also doesn't help we have zero offensive line talent outside of Trent Williams. I love the Skins but I would never wish that upon Tyrod.
Backup QB is probably his ceiling in all honesty. Which is still very, very, very good in the grand scheme of things. If he had starter potential the Ravens would have traded him while he was under contract before he hit the open market because of the financial commitment made to Flacco already, they can't afford to match offers from other teams and they wouldn't want to lose him for no compensation.
I highly doubt the Ravens make too much of an effort to resign him. They really like him but with someone already on the practice squad (Keith Wenning) why should they try to match any offers when they can just bring the new guy up. Also, if I'm not mistaken, if he signs somewhere else and gets playing time wouldn't the Ravens be in line for a compensatory pick?
Compensatory picks awarded based on whether you lose more players in free agency than you sign. The round of the pick is determined by the quality of the player you lost. So a backup QB who never played during the season wouldn't net much, nothing if they signed a free agent as replacement. But it's a cumulative team total
Right, but doesn't playing time for the new team affect it, too? If Tyrod were to go elsewhere and win a starting job I think that factors into it.......right? I'm genuinely curious
What if he goes to Arizona? He could start ahead of LT6...again
