Bud has been deeply entrenched in Blacksburg and our program for over 20 years. Moorehead....not so much. Dude is awesome and it wouldn't take long to be found.

True. He will leave at some point. I hope it's not anytime soon though. However, schools like OSU and Bama routinely lose top coahes to other jobs and them seem to be able to restock just fine. Perhaps that's the difference between us and them. I hope that Whit and Co. would be able to secure him for a few more years or at least until beamer retires but when he leaves I hope we're able to find just as suitable a replacement for him. If anything else he's at least the new standard for WR coaches that we need.

Oh, so this rumor started on TSL? Hold on. I need to go put on my national championship shirt..... Ok, I'm back. What did I miss. Nothing? But Frank needs to step down. Logan would get more play time if he just switched to TE. Fire everyone! What are we talking about again? Oh right, Bud to aTm. Did you see that plane!? Whoever created this thread is a fucking idiot.

You're right. Sorry OP. Those aren't words I should use for a fellow Hokie. But the post had no source, and I just wanted to rail on TSL (assuming that's where the rumor started). Their shirt was worse than "mission accomplished"

1. Something was said on a pay site.
2. People who don't pay for information propagate the fact that something was said on a pay site, so Moorehead is probably gone, right?
3. More sites pick up chatter as "rumors that Moorehead is gone"
4.
So, the old Telephone Game in the digital age?

I've had flu-like sore throat crap for two days now. That gif made me laugh out loud. It hurts. But that is easily the best animation I've seen in a very long time.

The source is CZYHokie on 247 and OXVT over at TSL, who are both less than optimistic. I think if we're gonna hear anything it'll be in the next couple of days.

Actually, I'm not sure how many guys would come here to play for AMO. Barring some late-night miracles, we're not signing a WR this class (perfectly fine, given last year's although with Stanford departing, one would have been nice), so you'd think that any guy he recruited would be ok with him leaving so long as that position coach is still around. To be honest, with the WR talent we're chasing in 2016, this wouldn't actually be a terrible time for him to go. Would suck mucho, but wouldn't be a killer.

Keeping 100% of the current staff in Blacksburg is the barometer by which I'll measure my pending monthly donation to the athletic department. I'm waiting to see if the coaching carousel hits us this offseason, and if it doesn't, Bam! monthly donation. Some of my monthly TKP donation will be redirected to this end.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I don't know if that's fair. Even Alabama has guys jump ship and pursue other opportunities. This is AMO's first coaching job after he was a GA, and he's crushed it from day 1. Wouldn't be a shock to see him try to get out there and expand his resume a bit.

I think were in a more stable condition than Florida is right now, but SEC money is probably a big factor. The sports lover in me wishes that other factors weigh in more on a coaches decision rather than just money, and by all accounts it seemed like Moorehead has really enjoyed Blacksburg. Fingers crossed he talks to Babcock and Beamer before making a decision.

No. Just because a rumor turns out to be true, there's no point putting stuff on here with no indication of where it came from. A link to an article, tweet, bolt, anything that gave people an opportunity to dig around a bit themselves would have been acceptable. Instead, this thread turned into a bunch of rabblerabblerabble and people losing their collective crap without any idea of where it was coming from.

Validating his post doesn't mean its okay to make a claim without linking or mentioning any sources. This time a post of this nature was proved right, but plenty of times it hasn't. I don't see the key play as a place where speculations should be common place.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Eh, I think we are all rational enough here to not jump at any rumor, believing it to be true. I don't really see a problem with these kinds of posts because they spark discussion, which is why I keep coming back to this website.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I agree with this somewhat too. I certainly don't want this to be a rumor mill location, but honestly this post put it out there that this was something being discussed in Hokie Nation. had I not seen this post my reaction to Joe's post about him leaving would have been a lot more drastic than me simply screaming "NO" and throwing my ipad out of the window of my 18th floor apartment. I likely would have dropkicked the dog...
and nobody wants that.
I do think the OP could have tried to elaborate more or given an indication of where the rumor started etc, but I appreciate the effort, especially since he was right.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I don't mind seeing rumors but there should still be some kind of source. I don't need to wait to see it from the official VT Football twitter account, but just coming in here and cryptically saying "Some speculate it's Florida" is pretty dumb.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Sorry guys for being so vague but it was pay info on rivals. I was thinking that maybe someone on here could confirm. I would never intentionally piss off my Hokie brethren! Bro hugs?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Damnit, I need this site. My paid subscriptions are always so negative but here everyone puts out rational thoughts for discussion. Love TKP. thank you Joe, French, and all others who make this site possible.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I appreciate the sentiment, but I think it's more appropriate that you don't shoot the messenger just because he has potential bad news. Love you the same.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
It's not that you had bad news it's that you didn't bother to cite a source. Even with it turning out being half correct, it still comes across as pure rumor mongering, which is absolutely not what TKP is about. If you want to drop a bombshell on us, back it up with a source or a link, otherwise there is legitimately zero credibility to what's being posted. The last thing this site needs is a culture of treating every unsourced rumor as fact because once in a blue moon it happens to be correct.
Also, as a rule of thumb, if you don't feel comfortable sharing how you got the information, its probably not wise to post it.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Honestly, I don't think most people on TKP would have reacted any differently had he said he saw it on the paid for pages of Rivals.com
I think most here would have wrote pretty much the same things: #sources, etc
I agree that rumor mongering is bad for the site but in this case he was right. Even without a source. And it happened fast, same day in fact. Not like he put it out there and it was followed by weeks of speculation.
I think a lot of people here are quick to dismiss anything that does not have direct sourcing, which isn't a bad thing, but it also limits the amount of legitimate "inside" info that can get passed to TKP readers. I don't belong to any pay sites and I rarely have time to read any other Hokie site except TKP, so I really appreciate the OP putting this up. As I mentioned before, he should have put up some sort of disclaimer to explain his #sources info though but I don't think it needs to be an elaborate explanation nor do I think he needs to not say something if he hasn't heard it directly from the horse's mouth.
perhaps like: This is completely #sources, but there seems to be a lot of rumblings on pay sites that coach Aaron Moorehead will be off chopping wood in a new location. At his point Florida is rumored to be that destination.
Having no access to those sites I really appreciate his effort in giving me that speculation. At the same time he can been upfront that there is no direct source there to be made. Purely a heads up.

Hmmmm thanks for the solid info?
#weaksources
good one.
No. This is unacceptable. Get me Whit on line 2.
Just like Bud was on his way out to Texas A&M?
Different situation, this one may have some legs!
Unlike this thread! Get it, guys?
Bud has been deeply entrenched in Blacksburg and our program for over 20 years. Moorehead....not so much. Dude is awesome and it wouldn't take long to be found.
Well if the rumors are true than this would suck to say the least. Really hope that they aren't.
Yup I agree, I'm not sure we have the bank account to keep him. I really hope we do keep him because he has made such a great impact here.
Fuck the bank account. We go into the red to keep Moorehead on staff. He's a program builder.
You have got to be fist fuckin me...who would we get to replace him? SMH
This thread was worth it just for this response.
At some point it is going to happen. We have to understand that with younger better coaches they will move up AND out.
True. He will leave at some point. I hope it's not anytime soon though. However, schools like OSU and Bama routinely lose top coahes to other jobs and them seem to be able to restock just fine. Perhaps that's the difference between us and them. not on topic, but are you at Fort Bragg?
I was for like 10 years. I'm out at Ft Leavenworth now.
Having coaches move on to other programs helps, it's called the coaching tree. Look how many of the top coaches all coached together years ago.
No one here or on tsl seems to have any sources to back this up, so ill ignore it until I see some.
I'm not sure I would call him a fucking idiot! I believe a better choice of words could have been used!
You're right. Sorry OP. Those aren't words I should use for a fellow Hokie. But the post had no source, and I just wanted to rail on TSL (assuming that's where the rumor started). Their shirt was worse than "mission accomplished"
It didn't start on TSL. Looks like it started on VT Scoop.
Can we pass a damn hat to buy a subscription and find out what the story is?
Thanks. And this is one of the very few times I hate that I'm telling you "I told you so." Really hope we get someone solid to replace him.
Yeah.... I'm gonna need a source on this one
OP, linkage?
I can't seem to find anything
This is not the information I come here for! Winning game reviews, 5* commitments, _____ player meme, and LOLUVA losses please!
Worst I've heard so far is that he's one of 5 WR coaches that Florida is interested in. Sounds about on par with Shane's Texas job rumors
So, to summarize (from what I've found):
If you believe yourself to have the flu you should go get treated immediately (treatment only good if symptoms have been present for less than 72).
After that 72 hours is up, it's just rest and hydration, my friend. And a long 10-14 days of recovery.
I've been dealing with a shit ton of flu patients in the past two weeks. Lol
I appreciate it.
Keep up the good work, friend.
Flu patients = LOL ??!! :)
7 WR coaches in 7 years
Hardly provides a man with job security.
So this is pretty obvious in my book. If this rumor has legs, Whit matches the offer. Period.
YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH WHEN YOU'RE TALKING TO ME!!!
#sources
The source is CZYHokie on 247 and OXVT over at TSL, who are both less than optimistic. I think if we're gonna hear anything it'll be in the next couple of days.
IF it does happen I hope it's after signing day.

methinks horse was being a bit of a smart ass
You mean we should call him Jack?
Fair enough. I suppose the departure of a coach will need to be weighed against the opportunity they're presented.
I think were in a more stable condition than Florida is right now, but SEC money is probably a big factor. The sports lover in me wishes that other factors weigh in more on a coaches decision rather than just money, and by all accounts it seemed like Moorehead has really enjoyed Blacksburg. This is nothing but

I heard that...wait...nope those are just the voices in my head!
First thought he was as good as gone and our WRs are all:

Then I saw the rumor was just that and had no sources:
But still, stop down voting the OP
Edit: Now I have the sads. Dammit op why did you have to be "right"
Trust me, I hate that I was. Don't get all the down votes for passing on potential bad news.
It's called shooting the messenger. If you had paired Urban Meyer was coming as HC, you would've gotten a million up votes.
Lol yeah, gotta time my bad news better next time. Maybe with some free pie??
Confirmed Meyer to VT
He's off to Texas A&M
:(
So that's who the plane was for.
Any of you guys who downvoted the OP want to retract those?

Leg!
I think what they are saying is:
"Aaron Moorehead might be on his way out. Some speculate it's to Florida. Can't say more, it's on a Rivals pay board."
...would be a better post.

Bro hug.
And thanks for my first +10! Don't know why I care, maybe it's cause it's from Hokies :)
So what I meant to say was College Station, Kevin, and Aaron:
My bad. Misspelled all three
I'm sorry, did he say "bro hug", or "bear hug around the neck"? The Engine Room must be affecting my hearing. ;)
Wait... you can hear our posts? What color are your pills?
