According to 247Sports, the Hokies extended an offer to Coleman Fox's teammate Zachary Hoyt yesterday. His primary recruiter is Bryan Stinespring.
Not a lot about him other than 6-foot 5-inch, 275-pound offensive lineman. The other teams in play are BYU and Pittsburgh with interest from Maryland and Old Dominion.

Is this insurance if Mike Arnold flips? Either way, kid has good size and not an ounce of quit in him. He was still blocking 15 yards beyond the line of scrimmage but released clean at the whistle. I think Searels can make something of this young man.
Love seeing him blocking his initial guy then scream down the field to find someone else to keep the play going. Big guy as a little speed!
He's not an insurance-for-Arnold offer. He's a "we need players at OL" offer. Searels thinks he has the potential to contribute down the road, but not in the short term. Hence the grayshirt (might also be a #'s issue with a 2015 offer)
2015 - grayshirt
2016 - redshirt
2017 - rFr, reserve
2018 - rSo, reserve/contributor?
2019 - rJr, contributor/starter?
2020 - rSr, contributor/starter?
Is that based on anything concrete or are you just saying you believe the offer would have come regardless of LSU's offering Arnold?
I agree, once I heard it was a grayshirt offer, the likelihood of it being an insurance move went down in my mind. If Arnold flips, though, I'd imagine this would become a committable offer for this cycle.
I haven't seen anything to suggest Arnold isn't solid.
Our coaches are visiting him today if I recall correctly, so the various insiders will no doubt have updates based on what they hear through the grapevine tomorrow.
Word is that Arnold is solid. The offer to Hoyt has been in consideration for a while, we were just waiting to see what happened with some other guys (e.g. Isaiah Prince). If anything this is a possible replacement for Fred Johnson-looks like he's probably going to Miami.
Awesome. I love seeing local kids being offered. Love it even more when they commit!!
Dude! That hair is radical!
All he needs a big, burly beard!
It's a gray shirt offer meaning he won't enroll until January 2016.
Thanks for the updated information....
He is being offered a gray shirt, according to 247.
Thanks for the clarification!
Wow, kid can run. Looks like he could play TE
My bro coaches at salem, hoyts a big, smart, tough kid with a lot of upside. If pitt and byu want him to, then there is something there because both teams usually have solid o-lines.
Exactly my sentiments. Pitt has a beast o-line so them offering is a solid vote of confidence in his abilities.
Is Pitt's offer also a grayshirt?
Does he still have a Pitt offer? Just curious with the coaching change or maybe the offer came from the new staff. I have no idea.
The Pitt offer came after the new staff was in place. It was mentioned in the preview of to a paid site article on Rivals.
Thanks
6'5" 275 before gentrification? He could be a monster on the line when he is actually ready to start after a year or two in the system grayshirt/redshirting.
I'm with you, a 6'5 300 lb center, im lovin stacy searels more and more, the guy loves maulers, bring it.
I'm starting to get the feeling Searels is the OL coach Hokie Nation has been pining for since the end of the J. B. Grimes era. And old school smashmouth coach who teaches his players to play with a mean streak.
I think you mean, "since before the Newsome debacle"
We do not speak that name here.
I thought Grimes was that guy who was going to put the mean back in our OL. Hated to see him leave but Searles is definitely from the same school and will also get our OLine to where it needs to be.
Stinespring was a good OL coach.
And he coached the best center we ever had. But he's a better tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator. He's where he needs to be.
Yeah, but in a pinch, he wouldn't be a bad guy to bring back to OL. He was solid there. I think Searles will be better than Stiney was, but not by much. And that's considering that Year 1 with Searles wasn't great. Year 2 may not be much better replacing 3 guys.
