I could be wrong, but I don't think we're going to have any surprises (good or bad) come Wednesday.

Hokies United l Ut Prosim

Agreed, NSD should be fine. Then we start the long, slow, hidden process of working the admissions office and NCAA Clearinghouse.

Hoyt is the only guy I expect to commit.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

I hope so. He seems like a sleeper OL prospect. We can never have enough OL on the team.

Ah, right. Forgot about him.

Would be a nice late pickup.

Hokies United l Ut Prosim

I'm really surprised we're not trying to target a few big-bodied WR prospects. Maybe some that have mostly mid-major offers. Really thinking we would try to get a few late since Cager committed elsewhere. We could use a few more tall receivers and see if they can develop.

Isn't Kendrick Holland 6'3" or 6'4"? Between him and Bucky I think those will be our jump ball threats.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

Yeah, Holland is a tall guy. And of course we have Bucky. Just figured we would maybe try to target some under-the-radar guys for depth and development. We haven't seen much of Holland yet. Holland and Parker are our only two 6'3" - 6'4" WRs right now.

You can never have enough bid bodied WRs.

I mean really, put another receiver with size on this roster along with Holland and Bucky to go along with the speed options we have in Ford and Phillips, and you have a very strong receiving core that would present any defense matchup nightmares all over the place.

Agreed. I think an X-Factor in all of this is Kalvin Cline. Can't wait to see him come back after his injury. He's another big-bodied target at 6'4" 240, and the thought of 3-TE sets is pretty exciting. Also, has anyone noticed we currently have a 5'11" 194 lbs TE on our roster??

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

Hoyt was a gray shirt offer, correct?

Correct!

@historyhokie.bsky.social

I believe it depends on scholarships. If, heaven forbid, someone doesn't qualify my understanding is that they would have him come in at the regular time. It is a greyshirt right now though.

You would be correct. It all depends on if Settle and another recruit (forget who) can clear admissions.

Hill. We'll know by tomorrow afternoon, so don't be concerned/surprised when you see he's one of/the last to send in his LOI. He isn't flipping, he's just getting one more thing cleared so he can get into Tech.

Yikes. TKP would (perhaps rightfully so) melt down if Settle and Hill were both nonqualifiers.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

Yes, yes it would. Which is why I'm really hoping people see what I posted above. The guys over on 247 don't foresee any issues, so barring any major surprises he should be in no problem and ready to go this summer. I'm sure we'll see a bit of panic anyways. Oh well.

I hope the panic would be the result of understanding the need for DEs and not because "our recruiting is in shambles, no good recruits even qualified, Torrian Gray disrespects moms, Beamer doesn't do in-home visits, and we let Moorehead walk instead of making him Head Coach-in-Waiting."

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

Looks like Tim's planning to start his day off right.

"Exit light..."

I thought all those accounts with uis name were fake, or am I misremebering, it's a different recruit.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Josh Sweat had fake accounts made in his name. Settle's is legit.

"Exit light..."

right that's it. thanks.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

So if he signs tomorrow at 7 and they put all his information up on Hokiesports, does that mean he has qualified academically? Or do we still play the waiting game?

We still wait.

If he signs, he's formalizing his INTENT to play for Tech.... completely separate from Tech granting him admission (although they will) and the NCAA clearing his to participate in NCAA-sanctioned competition (the part we'll be waiting on).

I don't know guys, he didn't use the chicken emoji. Now I'm nervous. (sarc)

"Nope, launch him into the sun and fart on him on the way up"
-gobble gobble chumps

"11-0, bro"
-Hunter Carpenter (probably)

I believe it was a legal issue that may prevent him from signing tomorrow (which based off of his earlier tweet, it might be a non issue now.) He has always had the grades to qualify.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Yeah, his grades are fine. As I said, everything should work out just fine with him, it's just an issue of having a few i's dotted and t's crossed. Aaaaaaaaand that's all there is to talk about.

smoke bomb

Yeah, most of the "gurus" believe that he'll be fine. VT has been monitoring this the whole way.

That is good to hear 'cause I feel like he might be the most underrated player in this class. He has some scary good talent.

Great news - my 10 am meeting on NSD got pushed to Friday morning, so I can be fully unproductive while paying attention to NSD.

@historyhokie.bsky.social

Whatever happened to the Perdue verbal O lineman we were flirting with?

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

DE and I believe that he never visited because he feared that Purdue would pull his offer and there was no guarantee that he would get a VT offer so it seems like not visiting and just sticking with Purdue was the smart thing to do.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

You are correct good sir!

Thanks. I don't know where I got in my mind he was an O lineman.

Frank would be proud.

Anyone done the scholly math yet, how many do we have open vs. how many "commits"?

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

The numbers always work.

I wouldnt be surprised if we still got Cager

Bleeding burnt orange and chicago maroon

I would be.

Cager is solid to Miami. Plus one of the main reasons we were one of the "finalists" is because he had such a close relationship with Moorehead.

GIVE IT TO ME ROSCOE!

I thought his relationship with his position coach was the reason he picked Miami? not saying he didn't have a good relationship with Moorehead, which I am sure he did.

better chance seattle passes from the one yard line then we get cager. O wait................

Tennesee looks to be getting the number 1 OT as a flip from Ole miss. So someone of their current class might be up for grabs

Brace yourself, signing day is coming.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

How do you get a meme generator picture to upload on the site? I'm using iPad if that helps.

I just went to google and punched in what I wanted. Somebody had already done one close enough and took the link from that. Punched it into the pic link.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Ok yea I can manage to get that, but I tried to make a Paul Revere, signing day is coming meme and it would not load.

Biggest issue was that the NCAA clearinghouse is a terrible, terrible institution that needs to be razed to the ground.

the best account of the issues that prevented his enrollment: HERE

and a passage:

Harris Sr.'s version of his son's academic issues is a tale of frustration.

Harris Sr., who added Arkansas has shown interest, said his son took an applied geometry class at Downingtown East that ended up not being an accredited course. He was short of the core credits needed for graduation.

The Harrises were encouraged by college-level advisers to have Harris Jr. take online courses through The Keystone School to make up for the unaccredited course. The online course would help him get a qualifying grade-point average that matched his SAT score on the NCAA's sliding scale, according to Harris Sr., who added his son's graduation date was pushed back to summer 2012.

Harris Jr. enrolled at FUMA, only to find out after he'd started classes that the online courses he took couldn't be accepted. Since he didn't graduate from high school with all of his core courses, none of the courses he took at FUMA counted on his transcript, which was flagged.

"It's a big tragedy," said Harris Sr., who had a kidney removed as a result of cancer in his son's junior year at Downingtown East, and then had his gall bladder removed about a year later. "It's kind of hard for an institution to admit that they're wrong. Nobody wants to admit that they're wrong when it comes to this.

"I'm not bad-mouthing the NCAA at all. I've already been through the horror stories. They have their rules and regulations on how they do stuff. They may be consistent, and they may be inconsistent. I'm not here to judge that. I'm just here to do what I need to do to get my son to where he wants to be."

ESPNU doing 11 hours of signing day coverage tomorrow. Reporters at 16 schools and at announcement sites of six of eight remaining uncommitted five stars. Gets more ridiculous every year.

Playing time in the future. Miller is gone after next year. Whoever starts between Barrett and Jones probably goes pro after this year and the new recruit is then only a RS-Fr with a chance to compete.
