VT Softball will be playing Friday and the weekend at Coastal Caroline. Going to catch their game against Maryland. Beautiful facilities Coastal has here. They are dumping money into all their fields. Will update game as it happens. GO HOKIES!!

That will be last live update today. Time to go pick up the kids. Games were delayed 2 hours because of cold. Depending on weather might bring kids out tommorow to see them play. Supposed to be 70 Sunday so will be here for that game.
VT up 7-0 after 2 innings vs. Lafayette (I'm not there live, just following on Hokiesports.com). Hopefully there will be less drama than the Maryland game.
VT wins 10-0 in mercy rule game in 5 innings.
Andre Davis said he might come out to a game this weekend, if he does I'll be sure to say hey from TKP.
Anyone know the outlook for the Softball Team this year?
Per a friend on the team, the offense/defense is going to be ok-pretty good. Pitching is going to be pretty much the same as last year. There was a pretty awesome freshman pitcher that got a spot on Team USA but I believe she tore her ACL.

I was impressed with pitching for 5.5 innings. The infield played fairly well, saw a few mental errors but first game. Hitting looked awesome, outfield may need some work. This is all coming from a baseball guy so some of the rules about batting and base running are new to me. Overall I was happy to see them do well and fast pitch was actually kinda interesting.
I also enjoyed speaking to the parents of the players. Met people from FL, NJ, VA and NC. I also was very impressed that several parents said they joined the Hokie Club because they wanted to give back to the school that gave their child an education and a scholarship. Another side note, for some strange reason right before the 7th inning (last inning in softball) the CCU booth played Enter Sandman. The dugout of girls went nuts.
Didn't make it to today's game between a sick kid and an apartment fire it's been a busy day. I hear VT softball did win AGAIB against Maryland thus making them 3-0 on the season. Andre Davis did make it to the game and talked to the players. Hopefully I can take my oldest to the game tomorrow in our nice 70 degree day we are going to have.

No kidding! Winning 5 straight to start the year, with 4 straight shutouts won by 6 or more runs. Great start ladies!
Not only did I get to experience fast pitch college softball for the first time but the VT softball team went above and beyond for my daughter. The entire team took a picture with her, they all talked to her and made her feel so special. If anyone knows any of the girls on the team please thank them for me. It was so true to see VT family on display.
