I see the pitchfork community is ready for the season to start.

Are there people who really think Lawson could start? I watched the all-star game he played in and love his tools. I am extremely excited to have him a Hokie. That said, he looked nothing like a guy who could play against Ohio State on September 7, 2015.

Yeah, I'm thinking the only QB to beat a great Buckeyes team last year, is probably the best option. Brewer also gets in a lot more work this off-season

I would agree that Brewer has shown the heart and leadership abilities necessary to be successful. If we put a line in front of him that can block and RB(s) behind him that can be productive, then he can win games. An off season working with CSL should improve his game. If Brewer is our best guy and starts, then I don't have any reservations with that.

That being said, I still hope that one of our young guns - Durkin, Ford, Motley - suddenly begins channeling MV7 or TT to win the starting job and take the offense to a higher level. I can dream (isn't that what the off season is for anyway?).

To be fair, idk how much those all star games showcase much beyond athletic ability. I believe French mentioned in his review of Mook that in the same game Lawson played in, the defense was essentially running basic schemes/coverages. I imagine the offensive game plan was pretty elementary as well. I think Lawson has a shot, mainly because even though Brewer had some big moments, i don't think he's an automatic shoo in for starter come August (Wake game, Pitt game, the fact we didn't have a 50+ yard pass until the Bucky catch in the UVa game).

Yeah, welcome to the star-gazing, pitchfork-carrying portion of the fan base (if you weren't already familiar with them).

My feelings on Lawson are known. I think that he has the potential to be really, really good (I think Ford could be a good one too), but I really don't think that he's ready this year. Especially since he's not coming in this spring.

Or the UVa game on Nov. 28, 2015.

He's brings a lot to the table, but there are also some things that need serious work -- and he'll have all of about 6 practices in August to iron them out...and learn a college playbook. After that, he gets 3rd team reps, at best. Not to mention he could stand to put about 15-20 lbs on those bones to take the pounding an FBS QB takes.

All I know is whoever wins #2 qb next year behind Brewer will be the most popular dude on the team...

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"
