Seems like a high starting salary, which makes me wonder if VT had to make Burden an offer he couldn't refuse to get him to Blacksburg. That being said, I certainly hope Burden provides the same bang for the buck as Moorehead.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

He is making about what S. Beamer and Brown made ($187,525) when they came in a few years back. Moorehead started out making less than most of our other recent hires because he didn't have any coaching experience appart from being a GA at Stanford. The others had coached quite a bit in either college football (S. Beamer-7 years college, Searles-20 years college, Grimes-15 years college), proessional football (Brown-3 years NFL Europe & 3 years CFL) or both (Loeffler 12 years college, 1 year NFL). Burden is coming in with a similar ammount of coaching experience (7 years college) as Brown and S. Beamer did and he will make $2,525 less than they did in his first year as a Hokie.

Somebody give Coach Gray a raise.

And so did Moorehead for what it's worth.

You're right. I guess I just couldn't fathom why Searells would be making more.

Because Searels had been coaching at the college level for 20 years, including 13 at the FBS level and 11 at P5 schools, when he was hired by VT. Searels made $451,500 at Texas in 2013, 186,500 more than his starting salary at VT.

Gray while an excellent coach has about 7 years less experience, starting his coaching career at Maine in 2000 and was still an up and comming coach when he was hired by VT in 2006.

yep, and if I am not mistaken the average salary level for OL coach is higher than DB coach. Please correct me if I am wrong though

Someone who follows coaching changes try and answer why A&M has not released AM's new salary? A&M is a public school shouldn't they have to release that info.

It might be a matter of Texas vs Virginia law.

I'm not sure what the deadline is for doing so.

Might be they expect another change as well.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Somebody has to seek it. VT wasn't just going to give out the info for Burden if I didn't ask for it. I'm not sure if anyone who covers TAMU has done the same.

So the next time USAtoday does their annual coaches salary special?

I don't think that comes out until December. At least for assistant coach salaries.

Can't you just ask A&M, Bitter?

It's technically something you have to acquire via a Freedom of Information Act submission. Some places are uppity about out-of-state papers submitting stuff like that. Plus, I just don't care enough to ask about it. Was hoping a TAMU reporter would just take care of it.

Apparently not all reporters are as high quality and on top of things as Hokie Nation has been with AB.
