"Devin continues to have issues with his shoulder and will need surgery. At this point, we've recommended that he discontinue with his football. I think Devin understands that this is in his long term best interest and has accepted the fact that he will no longer be medically cleared to participate and will accept medical disqualification."

Good luck to Devin in his future endeavors...sad to see him go.
Surprised to see Goforth expects Marshawn and Shai to at least be playing by the summer.
They also expected Trey Edmunds to be full go last summer, IIRC. I think these updates tend to err on the side of optimism. Nothing wrong with that -- especially for the kids' sakes -- but I take them with a grain of salt.
A grain of salt for sure. I'm especially skeptical of Marshawn's timetable just because of how late in the year he got hurt/had surgery. Shai's knee is obviously a concern because of the repeated injury.
Yeah I have been skeptical about both for those exact reasons, as the rest of the fan base probably has been as well. I remember Adrian Peterson was dubbed a freak of nature for coming back from his ACL injury in less than a year, and both of these kids will have less than that as well before the OSU game.
And Facyson only had a minor "stress reaction" in his leg at this time last year.
What is Facyson's actual injury now?
Dear Devin's knee/shoulder:

Sounds like Shai could possibly play this year, he could really break out
Sucks man, he had so much potential. Best of you of luck wherever you end up kid...
This is too bad, I've been excited to see him and his brother hit the field and the opposing players since I started hearing about them. Best of luck to him
Does that mean he still gets his scholarship or does he lose that as well? Would be nice to know the kid can still get his education covered.
The nice thing about an injury disqualification is that the kid remains on scholarship without that scholarship counting towards the 85-man limit. So yes, he'll have his education (and most of his medical costs) covered and the coaches will have one more scholarship available for someone else. Best of a bad situation.
They can also help the coaches during practices as a Student Assistant coach as well. That's how Lefty got his start in coaching at Michigan.
I wish there was some sort of way to downvote certain facets of life.
