ESPN Insider's Assessment of 2016 ATH Reggie Floyd

ESPN Insider's Gerry Hamilton wrote a brief analysis of Floyd ($). For what it's worth, ESPN has him rated as a 4-star RB and in the ESPN 300.

What he brings: No. 259 Floyd is a tough runner with the frame to carry 215 to 220-pounds. The 6-foot, 195-pound Floyd possesses good feet in the hole, strength to break tackles, and the ability to stick his foot in the ground and quickly get vertical. His long speed is adequate, but he will make his living as a between-the-tackles runner with finishing lean and physicality, who can also be a sure-handed receiver out of the backfield. If safety ends up Floyd's future position, he will bring that same physicality to the position.

This clip makes me sad. I think back to the WMU this past year and Shai had a similar run, except more impressive. Their star LB literally crumbles in slow mo, while Shai's momentum is temporarily slowed then continues to churn for more yards! Oh well!

From the 247 interview he gave it looks like he wants to play safety at VT. With the value of RBs in the NFL I can't blame him.

He can also probably have a much longer career at safety. I think the day is quickly approaching when no NFL running back makes more than 3 million a year.

I didn't think this necessitated it's own post, but ESPN Insider ($) also listed Holland Fisher as the #7 redshirt Freshman to watch in 2015 in another post.

With both safety spots being vacated to graduation, the versatile Fisher, a former Under Armour All-America selection, is in position to land a starting job, a traditionally strong position at Tech. He has the coveted skill set to play the run in the box or cover in the back end.

I would love for this to be true. He's been such a mystery though so it's hard to really say.

Yep, but I kinda take it with a grain of salt because I haven't seen on Fisher from any of the actual VT beat writers. But worth hoping for.

I agree with you. I'd love for him to show up in the spring and wreck shop, but given his lack of presence I'm not sure that will happen. Dude is like the first rule of Fight Club.

It sounds like he is becoming the Joel Caleb of the defense. Lets hope thats not the case.

Just shows how much faith to put in these things...ESPN is clearly just looking at old star ratings and just throwing mud at the wall.

I get the feeling, based on who I think we get and ESPN's Junior 300, that ESPN is going to like this recruiting class more than the other services.

IMO, they got this one right.
