Carter makes it 4 ACC Titles

While it's been an extremely disappointing day for the VT wrestling team (currently in 3rd place behind UVA and Pitt), Devin Carter continued doing his Devin Carter thing, winning his 4th ACC title in dominating fashion by defeating UNC's Joey Ward 11-3. Carter's the 9th wrestler in ACC history to win 4 conference titles.

Joey Dance also took home an ACC championship by beating UVA's Nick Hermann 6-2. Tech has one more wrestler in the finals with top-seeded Nick Brascetta taking on #3 seed Andrew Atkinson of UVA.

If you want to watch the action live, the finals are currently being shown on ESPN3.

*UPDATE*
And Brascetta wins his 3rd ACC title in dominating fashion, picking up a major decision bonus point with a 13-4 major decision over Atkinson.

Tuned in just in time to watch Brascetta take Atkinson to school. Thanks for posting this!

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Thanks brother for keeping us posted. I've noticed you follow wrestling with as much-if not more fervor than I do. Really pulling for Devin, I hope he has the mindset of a ninja as he gets ready for nationals.

If it ain't orange, it better be maroon...and if it ain't maroon, it better be soon!

I am quite the fan of the rasslin'. I'm hoping to do a bit of coaching in the near future as well. I'm just stoked there are others around here who are into it as well. Carter's gonna have a heck of a tall task downing Steiber, but he's wrestling pretty darn well right now. As is Dance, and Brascetta is looking better and better every week. Gonna be a fun one in St. Louis, no doubt.

you going to make the trip?

Man, I wish, but unlikely.

MORE WWF! Good job boys!

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

Mastriani and Strube really cost the team this weekend. Strube at least won his first match but those dont count towards team points. Cant afford to have a #2 seed lose two straight matches. Pretty ridiculous that we won three of the ten weight classes and finished third. Even the rest of the team, only Epperly finished where he was seeded, the rest fell behind even their seeding position. Good luck to the guys that made Nationals. I believe that there will be four, maybe five making their way to St Louis.

Yeah, I'm not really sure what's been up with Sal, but he hasn't looked like himself for the past month or so. We definitely left a bunch of points out there by either losing winnable matches or just failing to pick up a bonus point in matches we won. Oh well, on to the NCAAs.
