When these teams last met at Wake Forest, Tech and Wake were sharing the cellar of the ACC. From this game, things changed for Wake who managed three more wins down the stretch, while Tech kept its strangle hold on last place. Wake is favored by 4 in this game and frankly I am surprised its not alot more with how Tech has fared in its last five games.

Wake is led by Codi Miller McIntyre (#0) a 6'3, 195 lbs junior guard who is averaging 14.7 ppg, 4.8 rpg, and 4.1 apg. He does have a weakness at the line, shooting only 63%, so if Tech wants to prevent easy baskets its not necessarily a bad thing to foul their top scorer.
There is only one more Demon Deacon in double figures this season, Devin Thomas (#2), a 6'9, 245 lbs junior Forward. He is the Demon Deacons leading rebounder at 8.8 rpg while also contributing 11.7 ppg. We need to ensure that we get position inside of Thomas to prevent offensive rebounds with easy put back opportunities that he thrives on.

Danny Manning brought in a big surprise from Greece this season in Konstantinos Mitoglou, (#44) a 6'10, 225 lbs freshmen Forward. Mitoglou has averaged 9.6 ppg and 4.5 rpg as a freshman this season.
In our last game against Wake, we only lost by three, and we had six scorers in double figures in the 73-70 final that came down to two missed shots at the end of the game. The three Wake Forest players discussed above all had big games, with McIntyre going for 19, Mitoglou for 15 and Thomas for 9. We held Wake to a pedestrian 28% from behind the arc, actually below their normal average.

Mitchell Wilbekin (#10), a 6'1, 175 lbs freshmen Guard also put up 15 in that game for the Demon Deacons in that game.
I will be honest and say I have no idea which Virginia Tech team will show up today at 3. If its the one that gives up 10-15 points uncontested to start a game than this will be a long afternoon but a quick end to their season. If its the one that shows up for big games, than they could easily put Wake Forest behind the eight ball and get a tournament win.
No score prediction today. Lets hope the Hokies go out and want it today.

Comments
I'd like to see us blow the doors off at least one conference opponent. Hopefully Buzz has them ready to go and they come out playing like their hair is on fire.
Go Hokies!
Everything that happened this season doesn't matter now, time to start a run that will confuse the world.
Looks like Wake is going to throw a big lineup at us with three forwards on the floor. Surprised to see the big man shooting from outside the arc. Not something I anticipated although he apparently attempts more than 4 per game.
Pierce with 2 fouls before we can even blink. I'm gonna guess Wake is looking to take it inside all afternoon
Damnit, they have to realize they have to guard the Greek Deac outside. He has now hit 3 of 4 threes
Dude killed us last time.
Beyer obviously does not want his career to be over.
Hudson looks like he's not ready to go home yet either
I like the pace. Taking smart shots. I would let that big guy shoot from out there. We're supposed to be the team shooting outside and they're supposed to be the team playing uptempo and it seems to be the other way around so far.
They dont have the personnel out there to play uptempo. It seems they went with the larger lineup to try to hurt us inside but that isnt working either. Really slow pace so far. People yawning in the crowd from lack of scoring.
Wait till the Hoos take the floor.
They've certainly come out with more energy than the other day. Pierce needs to play smarter when he gets back in.
Tired of missed layups. Frustrating as all get out to be missing those gimme buckets.
Pierce doesnt necessarily need to get back in. Almost would rather see the Beyer Henry combo today with the increased energy level.
We need that size. Plus with Beyer playing his nuts off, he's gonna need some rest.
Bibbs and Hill shooting 25% from the floor isnt helping.
I am glad that the officials seem to be letting them play. Makes for a better game.
Henry and Beyer are having monster games down low with Pierce in early foul trouble. Might as well let Pierce ride the bench and stick with the hot hands.
ahhh! I just remembered this was on. time to head home for the second half
HELL YEAH BOYS GET AFTER IT!
That first half.
Got to love how they closed that half. Gotta keep it up.
OMG WE PLAYED WELL IN THE FIRST HALF. I had forgotten how much fun this team can be. Jalen Hudson balled out. Lets keep it up!
Pregame speech:
Amazed/pleased we didn't dig a big home in the first half!
He never touched the line!
Gave it all back because we cant hit friggin layups.
No answer this half for Codi Miller McIntyre. and then we missed our fifth layup of the second half.
We really need them to actually miss a couple times. Not like they aren't trying to contest the shots.
Miller McIntyre has been getting wide open looks. But the Hokies seem to have found a little spark
6th
Really Pierce? Really?
He needs to sit the rest of the game. If you are going to foul at least keep him from making the basket. Handing the other team eight to ten points today.
We're making this kid Thomas look like freaking Okafor
What is it with us giving them the three point plays today?
Smith picked a good time to get in on the scoring.
Got to finish this half like the last one. Leave no doubt.
That was a block not a foul. bogus call to get them to the line.
Hudson right now:
Always love it when my wife spontaneously breaks into "Basketball its my favorite Sport ... " +1 from MB!
Are they committing Hari-kari right now? Offensive pushing foul? Really?
Refs did really well in the first half and now have gone whistle happy this second half. 21 fouls in this half so far.
This has a very familiar feeling...
At least on "Gamecast", Hudson is playing out of his mind. Hope he can redeem that last turnover... YES!!!
Our ball, no question.
EDIT: Are these PAC-12 refs?
EDIT EDIT: HOLY SHIT WE WON
It should be overturned and be hokie ball. Will it....
And apparently not. Giving the ball to Wake.
But we won anyway. Awesome fight for the good guys.
WE WANT KENTUCKY!
I think vegas would probably give you 10,000 :1 on us playing Kentucky in basketball this year.
I'd throw down $20 just for the hell of it.
If someone gives you 10,000 : 1 on anything you take it.
If John Mellencamp ever wins an Oscar, I am going to be a very rich dude
Leg for getting the Office reference.
Lottery ticket buyer, huh?
I think that is closer 467,000 to 1
Officials gave it their best shot, but we pulled out the win anyway! Hudson coming out party?
Road to the final four just started! WHOOOOOOO GET HYP!
When was the last time that both the Tech Men and Women won games in the ACC tournament?
Uh a long time, when was last time we made this many free throws in a big game.
Only watched 20 seconds and it was still able to give me chest pain. What is it with the refs against us?
just yelled on conference call... F#CK IT! THEY WON!!!
Well, sounds like you will have a lot more free time to watch the next round.
THEY TRIED TO DANNY COALE US AGAIN BUT GOOD TEAMS FIND WAYS TO WIN. JALEN HUDSON FOR PREZ BRUH
BALL DON'T LIE!
So proud of our boys. Can't believe the refs almost ruined the fun. But we got the win.
Plus 1 for the avi!
Thanks! Love reading your fishing posts on here. Pretty convenient how the Fighting Gobbler looks like he's taking the hook out.
Last time we scored 80+ points? Dec 27th against Presbyterian
We scored 86 against Duke a couple weeks ago but only 77 in regulation.
Brain failed to comprehend the Duke game because of how painful the loss was. Overtime never happened because Hudson made the free throws with zeros on the clock. Final score 79-77....
Assume you aren't counting Duke cause of OT?
Was it Wake Forest? Did we win? Did we score points in regulation?
Hudson averaged 6 points a game. This game is going to really mess that up...
Yeah but he averages 32 a game in tournament play #shaqstatus
Definately inconclusive
SNOWGHAZI-GATE!
What if Jalen Hudson was one of the two that skipped the snow workout?
It doesn't really matter, if he was one of the skippers then he gained some redemption with his teammates and coaches. What is clear to me is that Buzz knows how to motivate his players.
Happy for this Team and Coach! Lets Go Hokies!
He's pretty jacked tho, doesn't look like he skips many workouts
FYI... Miami is up next at 9 PM tomorrow on ESPN2.
Probably will be closer to 9:30 because games have to wait 30 minutes after the game before it ends.
These 9PM weeknight games in the middle of the week are getting rough
But the team doesn't need to worry about classes before the game... Just game prep and Miami. This could bode better than most 9pm or noon games
I think he meant personally, not on the team. At least we'd hope a little snow and late nights aren't an appropriate excuse for the team come this time of the year
Next victim for revenge week is what you really meant.
We need to get some snow for somebody not to walk through for this one.
Buzz Williams now has one more ACC Conference Tourney win than James Johnson.
Had to be in a class starting at 3:00 today, then an awful commute home...great news after all that! Go Hokies!
Just in case you should go to class tomorrow around...say...9:15.
Well, I work in Baltimore, so trying to get safely back to my car anywhere between 10:00 and 11:00 PM will probably involve me getting mugged or killed. If a late class + long commute = 1 win, I guess this scenario means the Hokies would win the ACC, get a tourney bid, and win it all. Been nice knowing you guys...
If it means getting a little revenge on the Miami Larranaga's....I'm sure we can TKPsource some funds for private security.
Guys, I don't know how much this means to all of you but Buzz and I are drained! Great win, Hokies!
What I like about next years team is that we will have 4 guys that are capable of giving us 25 on any given night, (Hudson, Bibbs, Smith, Hill). Plenty to look forward to if they can man-up on D against all the bigger ACC teams.
Sean McDonough is a secret Hokie Mojo charm.

Spot on, dude. I kept telling myself this the whole game.
Yes, we need to line Sean's pockets with some Hardees coupons.
