EJ Manual and Matt Cassel? He probably has a shot at starting. Jets would probably be a good opportunity as well...

Could also apply to Cleveland.

List of places I don't want to see a Hokie go because it's usually a death-knell for a career (in no particular order). Cleveland, Oakland, and Jets (may change now due to Ryan leaving). A case could be made for Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, and Washington as well. And until I see a drastic change in the QB rating of those that play for Rex Ryan I'm not a fan of a Hokie QB playing for him either (Prove me wrong Tyrod!)

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

Cassel hasn't passed the physical due to a broken foot. He has to pass it to for the NFL to approve the move to the Bills.

Yep. That, and I think given a shot, he could be better than Wilson.

If you play it, they will win.

He also beat EJ Manuel to a pulp in the 2010 ACC Champ game

I seem to recall that Foster had a bigger hand in beating EJ to a pulp...

Rich man's Russell Wilson? Not even sure I'm with you on that one there bud. Love the guy, but that's a little far.

what makes russell so good? his ability to keep plays alive. tyrod is way better at that. russell is better in the pocket but all hes asked to do is play action pass deep and scramble. idk ive never been a fan of wilson he turns the ball over alot hes just out there improving for the most part. i think if tyrod started instead of joe flacco then tyrod would have just as many super bowl rings as a starting QB as wilson. lets be honest seatles D won them the superbowl as did baltimores with flacco. then they both got paid. way more than they should have. just one mans opinion but i dont feel that its completely off base or from left field.

Wilson is probably the smartest decision maker in the League, IMO. Yeah he turned the ball over a lot the last two games we saw him play, but that wasn't an indicator of the entire season. He also rarely gets hurt, and most of it's due to how smart he is when on his feet. His accuracy is also worth noting.

Again, I love Tyrod and hope he gets a shot as a starter some day, but when he's gotten to play in the preseason, he has turned the ball over a decent amount. Russell Wilson was definitely not your classic success story, so maybe Tyrod's final verdict won't be either. I hope Buffalo signs him because I believe that would be his best shot at being the starter. At least he's out of Baltimore. I have never been a fan of Flacco at all, but he never gets hurt, is way overpaid and has a ring, which is why Tyrod was an afterthought after the final preseason game.

im with you on that. im not high on flacco at all. and every other QB in the league gets hurt but him. i agree with everything you said. i guess to say hes a rich mans RW was a stetch lol. i just think if giving the oppurtonity he could have been/ will be just as successful. id atleast like to see if he could do it. hes a game changer. id like he to get a chance to show he can play in the league and i think russell wilson gives me hope that tyrod could do it at a high level.

I agree he's probably not as good as Russell Wilson, and certainly hasn't shown it, but I can't think of any competent QB who's ever gone into a situation as good as what he got in Seattle. Backed by a dominant defense and a top running game with good coaching and a front office that knows what they're doing. I think there's over a dozen QBs in the league who could easily walk into Seattle and take that team to the super bowl. Wilson's most valuable asset is being on a small contract that lets the team overspend everywhere else.

I'd like to point out that this upcoming season, flacco isn't even the highest paid player on the ravens. Again for this season, he's actually only the 15th highest paid qb. The numbers for next year skyrocket but he is not, as of yet, overpaid.

Flacco had one of the the greatest nfl postseasons in history. Saying that the defense won it or thay tyrod would have also won is extremely homeristic.

Oh ok. I guess JMUs QB is better than Tyrod too

Too soon.

Saying Wilson was a better college QB than Tyrod is debatable. Tyrod won ACC player of the year his senior year when Wilson was still at NC State. Wilson then went on to have a great season at Wisconsin the next year, however.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

They were pretty evenly split while Wilson was in the ACC, but Wilson had an all time great cfb season (set the single season FBS passer efficiency rating) at UW

I don't agree with that. I think Tyrod was a better college QB. I saw Russell throw 4 picks against DBU. I don't know how to compare them presently because we haven't seen Tyrod play significant minutes in the NFL. The only comparison we have of them is in college, and my vote is for TT

Tyrod did it, Mikey!

Which happened as a freshman. I don't even really disagree with you, but that's a poor argument.

Nope Tyrod was a sophmore

Would be a pretty interesting fit. Couple Tyrod with Shady, Sammy Watkins, and potentially Percy Harvin as I've been hearing? Sounds like a pretty potent offense. Would have thought MV7 would get a look from the Bills as well as a short term option, but I haven't been hearing much noise about him at all so far. Unfortunately, I think his days in the NFL are winding down fast. Really hope Tyrod can get a shot to prove himself somewhere. Definitely has all the tools.

Considering that it seems like a safe bet that Percy Harvin is a locker room cancer, I think Tyrod would be better off if Harvin wasn't a member of any team he had a shot at QB'ing. Seeing as Tyrod would be a first time starter and Watkins is very young, I'm not sure the Bills have the leadership to properly handle a disruptive player in the locker room.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

Just going strictly off his abilities as a player; I don't know anything about behind the scenes. Regardless, Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods is a really good 2 deep at WR. I think it would be a great situation for him. He would have a real shot at beating out both Cassel and Manuel for the job.

Maybe being from Va Beach would bond them

Tryod

Don't care who he plays for...just want to see him get a chance.
Can't wait to watch him play again!!

@AMB4VT

I heard the Eagles need a Quarterback...

...Sam Bradford's corpse notwithstanding...

I honestly have no clue what Kelly is trying to do with the Eagles. I'm not buying that he's completely sold on Bradford going forward; been listening to his live presser on the Eagles site, and he just said an undisclosed team offered him a 1st rounder for Bradford today. I still think he's going to try and move up somehow for Mariota.

moving up for Mariota, if he doesn't get him he has Bradford to fall back on. Bradford will be an average QB stopgap if the draft doesn't work.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

Could be. I think Bradford is going to be used as trade bait to move up. I'm not sure whether he or Foles had better trade value, but if someone, according to Kelly, is willing to offer a first rounder for Bradford, he's probably shopping him around a good bit.

I thought the Eagles got Bradford and some picks. The picks to be used as trade up fodder and Bradford as the back-up plan

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

The Eagles actually gave the Rams two picks plus Foles for Bradford. Looking at the details of the trade, Philadelphia gave St. Louis Foles, their 4th round pick this year, and their 2nd round pick next year for Bradford and St. Louis' 5th round pick this year. So either they really are content with Bradford, or they're going to have to trade him to get more ammo to move up. Philly also gets a conditional pick based on how much Bradford plays, however.

Ok I had the picks mixed up. Who knows what Kelly's thinking right now. They could go after DeMarco Murray next.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

So Bradford, Sanchez and T-Mobile walk into a bar...

heard if he is there at 5 that redskins would take him. i sure hope not. mariota that is.

twitter @smithey_daniel

I think the Redskins would try to trade Mariota to Philly or someone below them in the draft for more draft picks in an attempt to cover the cost of the RG3 pick in 2012.

Kelly is going to lose all the credit he has gotten for some good moves if he actually does trade up for Mariota.

what good moves? trading away or releasing his whole team?

McCoy trade was a pretty good trade if he truly believes in Mathews and his system.

He was the best, most exciting VT QB to watch during my undergrad years; really do wish he could have had a full redshirt year. I want to see him get a shot. As others have said, he beat Wilson and Manuel head-to-head, especially when the chips were down in 2010.

Heheh fair enough. I was trying to get the Raiders to go with Cam Newton, Terrell Pryor, and EJ Manuel a few years back but they reacted similarly.

It's official, Eddie Royal to the Bears. Pretty cool that the tandem that was Fast Eddie and Josh Morgan are now reunited in the Windy City, and obviously Kyle Fuller there as well.

PLEASE NO!!! Anywhere but the Bills! Rex Ryan is a QB killer! His last 3 QB's have rated dead last in the league. I would LOVE to see Tyrod playing as a starter, but NOT under Rex.

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

Was it Ryan or the Jets?

Ryan WAS the Jets. He made that team a laughingstock.

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

And....someone just took their shoes off

The Dude Abides

Well the good news is he's had 4 years to learn how to actually play the position under a decent coach and with a good program. So long as Rex doesn't tell him to just forget everything he's learned and just throw it to the other team, Tyrod should be alright.

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for him, and I hope he succeeds. But with Rex "QB Killer" Ryan as coach that is one of the last places I would have wanted Tyrod to go.

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

The Jets went to back to back AFC Championships and made Mark Sanchez look like a bonfide NFL starter. They only went downhill when their front office went off the deep end and the offensive talent completely dried up. The worst thing you can say is that he doesn't get great production from marginal talent on offense. Luckily, Shady and Watkins will be on the Bills, a massive improvement over any Jet from the past 3 or so years.

I am happy he signed but I wish it had been somewhere else. Rex Ryan kills QBs.

So will rex be changing the tattoo jersey of his wife again to T-Mobile?
