Man, I hope I don't see Buzz Williams working press coverage for the next 10 years.
The List of Ex-Hokies that have made the dance in recent years:
Dorian Finney-Smith - Florida (Last Year)
Robert Brown - UAB - (Just carried his team through the sun-belt and 1st round)
Ben Emelogu - SMU (Got a hardship waiver and has played a reserve role)
Trevor Thompson - Ohio State (Riding the pine through a redshirt year)
Tyrone Garland(champion of the backboard 3's) - La Salle (12-13) Big part of their sweet 16 run
Ben Boggs - Valpo (12-13)
NIT:
Manny Atkins - Georgia State (13-14)
And we've finished last in the ACC 3 straight years, winning 8 games combined in conference play.
We are cows in desperate need of greener pastures at the William's family farm.

Next year when Tech wins an NCAA game, South FL, MD, and UNC Wilmington can all say "Look at our ex players going on to tourney success at another school". Transfers are extremely commonplace in NCAA basketball

Montrezl Harell, a VT signee with Marshall Wood i believe.
Harrell probably would have been a top 5 pick if he left earlier. That one hurt to lose out on, and then watch him cut down the nets the very next season.

I blame Weaver for a lot of things, but it wasn't his call on whether to offer Steph or not, it was Greenberg's. Still to this day I fantasize about what a Delaney/Curry backcourt would have looked like.

more like Not Offering a Scholarship to Mike Vick's Son or Bruce Smith's son we are talking about Dell Curry one of Virginia Tech's Greatest Basketball Players. We might want to remember this if Mike Vick winds up having a son that plays QB - offer him a walk on and will see how that works out.

On a different note, Ben Emelogu scored one point against UCLA in their loss to UCLA. Contrary to rumor, not every ex-Hokie is doing wonderfully after transferring.

At this point, how wonderfully Emelogu is doing remains to be seen. He got a hardship waiver, so he didn't have to redshirt this season, that's got to be a win against 'the man' and Mark Emmert's cronies in itself.
Plus he is taught by a legendary coach in Larry Brown. We'll see if he gets his minutes with all the talent Brown will continue to add to their program.
Plenty of positives about him, he was a heck of a worker and one of 2 players on the team last year that could create their own shot. He was recognized by JJ as a 'team captain' and sent to ACC media days as a freshman. Very embarrassing for Hokie Fans. That baffled me, I didn't even need to see JJ coach another season after that move. If not for injuries, Emelogu would have had better numbers last season. How many team captains transfer out and play somewhere else the very next season. The occasional Grad-Transfer i suppose. Never generally unknown recruits from half-way across the country that take the captain role as a freshman. What a bizarre season and eventual offseason that was.

I was a fan of Ben's, hated to see him go. I have to assume his reasons were legitimate, sometimes players leave I am sure and regret it later. Personally, I hope he is happy at SMU and wish him a great career.

Tech had a football player named Robert Brown in the early 80's who ended up playing eight years or so with the Packers. His rookie season, 1982, the league's players went on strike and Brown spent some time back in Blacksburg. During a pickup B-ball game at the War Memorial Gym, a good friend of mine who was no slouch at 6'3" went up about a foot above the rim to snare a rebound. This Robert Brown, also about 6'3" and 240lbs went up behind him and deftly slammed the ball into the basket. Tech could have used him on the court.
As well, he gave me perhaps the greatest compliment I ever had playing sports. During one play I stepped in front of him and he yelled to his teammates, "pick". Yeah, like if he didn't want it to be a pick it would have been, well, I might not be here typing this...
Oh, and yeah, as I recall and maybe not so clearly, this Robert Brown, did the reverse transfer. He spent his final two years here after two years at a junior college in North Carolina, Chowan perhaps.
Go Hokies!

Step 1: Play basketball for a year or two at VT.
Step 2: Transfer
Step 3: Have a memorable and heroic performance playing in NCAAT
Step 4: Profit
Do not tell that to Chris Clarke.
Chris, if you're reading this it's all a joke. We're just a bunch of jokers around here.

Emelogu is probably gonna come off the bench and have a career day for SMU.
Which would be acceptable since I picked SMU in one of my brackets :)
"In one of my brackets"?
Listen here, you little whippersnapper... Back in my day, we filled out ONE bracket on paper in PEN.
*slowly backs off lawn...*
Emelogou and Brown never played together, right? Because they might be playing on Saturday.
I had Iowa State playing Duke in the Elite 8...
That's pretty tame compared to my bracket. I had to go out on a limb this year didn't I?

Add Curry to the list with an asterisk of VT being too dumb to even allow him to play for us.
Montrezl Harell, a VT signee with Marshall Wood i believe.

Don't blame VT, blame this man.

I blame this man more so

If he took Davidson to the Elite 8, how deep could we have gone with Steph friggin Curry along with Allen, Delaney, Washington, etc, etc. ?
Vassallo too. Ugh.
You're right. I just like to blame weaver for all of our mishaps.
To be fair, hindsight's 20-20; it's like Mike Vick nearly going to UVA and those fans now wondering "what-if".
more like Not Offering a Scholarship to Mike Vick's Son or Bruce Smith's son we are talking about Dell Curry one of Virginia Tech's Greatest Basketball Players. We might want to remember this if Mike Vick winds up having a son that plays QB - offer him a walk on and will see how that works out.
I know someone who picked UAB for the upset... wait, who was that....
Watched that episode on the Flix today. Classic. "Hey Halpert, still queer?" "Hey, who has two thumbs and hates Todd Packer? This guy."

He did get to play in the tourney though.

Maybe Amo and Grimes following same formula? Coach at VT...transfer...make Playoff.
FTFY
Brown's had a good start today. 6 of 7 for 15 points in the 1st half against UCLA.
