The Hokies have added their first linebacker of the 2016 class.
As first reported by Nathan Warters of The Free-Lance Star, Victor Greene of Spotsylvania's Courtland High School committed this afternoon, becoming Tech's eighth player of the class and its third in-state prospect in the group.

The 6'0", 200-pound outside linebacker moonlights as a running back for Courtland, but based on my conversation with Greene and his head coach back in December, he'll likely stick on defense at Tech.
"I didn't play a lot of linebacker before, but I definitely asked to get in there more once I found out (the Hokies) were recruiting me like this," Greene said of his future position last year.
The Hokies were the only offer for Greene, who's currently rated a 3-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite rankings, but his coach made it clear early and often that he has serious potential at the next level.
"Lots of linebackers were also running backs in high school," said Courtland coach J.C. Hall back in December. "It's just about making big plays when the ball's in your hands, and Vic certainly has that capability."
Greene visited Tech for the team's Junior Day event back on February 7, after stopping by campus to see the Hokies beat UVA.
Neither Greene nor Hall were immediately available for comment this afternoon, but we'll be following up with them as soon as possible.

Comments
I remember when we were having issues getting quality lb commitments. That doesnt seem to be an issue as of late. Welcome to Hokie Nation!
I feel like a lot of schools/coaches wait and see if Foster/VT offer kids in VA before they jump at these mid targets. Hopefully we can keep him in the fold when the Sharks start to circle. Seems like a good kid.
Im wondering how this commitment will influence his offers. I think its strange that even the smaller programs like jmu and richmond didnt offer at some point
Welcome, Victor!
Is that a little brother I see?
When reading comments, context is everything
Or, you gave it the context that was in your mind when you read it. in which case...
just did this in my office..
You hugged a shirtless man with so much enthusiasm that you gave him whiplash?
You taped your shorts to your back?
I'm digging the soccer theme
And Mom is absolutely rockin' the VT wear.
Or is that his sister the cheerleader?

Well done, Mr. Greene!
Also, congratulations on your son's commitment to Virginia Tech. Happy to have him on board.
He kind of look's like Lil Wayne with short dreads.
Yes, his mom's a MILF.
Easy now

Lil Bro looks hungry to be a Hokie, lets make it another family VT pipeline!
247 has him up to 215 lbs in their recent update.
Like other recruits nobody notices watch Ohio State and Clemson come after him now, it's like they only know how to offer 4 and 5 stars but cannot evaluate talent like Va Tech can. Both of those schools have a habit of offering guys after they commit to us.
Why spend time and money evaluating a kid in VA when one of the best defensive staffs in the country will do it for you.
