Things I noticed right away, Mihota at Nose, Hansen starting RT, Caleb and McMillian in the #2 RB spot, lots of Guards but VERY thin at Tackle.

McMillian at #2b and easily could be top #2a after a couple Spring practices. Lefty and Shane seem to love this kid

Brewer and Motley sharing the #1 spot.

Loeffler is dropping the gauntlet.

Or they plan on keeping the motley package around as a regular guest of the show...
INTRIGUE

IMO if Motley is going to be the 2nd string QB they shouldn't have him be the running quarterback. Too much of an injury risk, especially when Brewer is your starter.

I would keep the running QB package but use Durkin instead. Allow him to get some reps, keep all the benefits of a dual QB package, and if Durkin does get hurt you still have your 2nd string QB healthy in case Brewer decides to not slide one to many times.

I'm not disagreeing with you but what about Ford? Maybe they want to run a 2 QB system and Ford is Brewer's backup and Durkin is Motley's?

Onward and upward

That's what Loeffler needs. More choices!

Loeffler can juggle QBs while Shane juggles the RBs. Imagine the possibilities.

I think Loeffler is sending a message: Brewer is going to have to work and earn that job again this year, and nothing will be handed to anybody. Interested to see what Motley can do this spring, and if Ford and/or Durkin can challenge. If Motley is ultimately Brewer's primary backup, then could we see Durkin in the wildcat package?

Also looks like Chuck Clark is staying at corner for the time being, so we get to watch Reavis and Frye battle it out there. Looks like the coaches have a ton of confidence in McMillian, and may also be trying to really motivate Caleb as well. And wow, we are pretty thin at tackle.

Or they are trying to keep Motley from leaving.

He did get a vote for ACC player of the year last year.

Pre-season...

Thats an interesting secondary. Don't think its gonna be like that when facyson and fuller come back

Hopefully Facyson will. His injury issues concern me.

remeber all that redman discussion...After seeing the depth chart that's a pretty obvious move, also Reavis ahead of Frye or does that mean 1A and 1B?

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

That o-line depth though.

To quote you,

I'm wondering what the Grimes Class will ever produce.

So someone correct me if Im wrong but aren't 3 of the OL signees from 2014 buried in depth at RG.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

One is the starting C, and the rest are RG and LGs. Unfortunately OT is our biggest need right now and none of them are listed there. If McGlock goes down on the left side it's not looking pretty.

The true tackle in that class got cherry-picked by Ohio State.

All the more reason to beat them again.

I'm assuming the Y next to the QBs means yellow jersey/no contact. It will be interesting to see if they decide to make them live at any point; if not, we might not see much designed run out of Durkin. Also, I take it the 7 next to Motley is a typo and should be 9.

Either that, or he changed to #7 after his favorite hokie QB of all time... Sean Glennon.

I think if you fielded a team with those people that are injured, and a random collection of TKP members to fill out the other spots, we would still beat UVA for a 12th time.

"Tajh Boyd over the middle . . . and it's caught for an interception! Michael Cole, lying flat on his back, ARE YOU KIDDING???"

Interesting that after all that talk Chuck Clark is at corner, there doesn't seem to be a true rover on the team. That and oline depth are downright scary. Also strange that just about all of the 2014 offensive linemen are at right guard.

Relax folks- on offense I think this depth chart is more of a reflection of where the team was at the end of last season than a true indicator of coaching opinions. Those guards will get a chance to compete and ultimately I expect Conte and Hansen to possibly flip. Mike Arnold and Austin Clark will need to make an impact. I don't buy Redman as a tackle, and my opinion on Osterloh remains the same until he proves otherwise.

On defense, I am a little confused by Chuck Clark being at corner and Donovan Riley at rover. Clark is a proven commodity at corner and all the talk is that he is needed at free safety. Riley is a decent cover guy but struggles to tackle. Either the staff expects Reavis to be really solid at safety and Bud wants to see if Riley can fit at rover or...

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

My theory is that Bud is working on something to flip Urban Meyer's world inside-out and upside-down...I have all the faith in the world that Bud knows what the f*** he's doing and I know nothing about football.

Onward and upward

No doubt. Bud will be ready when Urban rolls into town. Bud even said he knows they will want to come in and try to blow us out. He's expecting them to try to run up the score on us. I'm sure he's motivating the players with that too. He will have one hell of a plan come Labor Day, that I know.

Its awesome how we have three Edmunds on the team

Hahahaha. Sam Rogers being Sam Rogers.

"We can't let him practice. He might kill everybody within a five mile radius."

Leonard. Duh.

I thought Chuck Clark was gonna be the Free Safty

Hokies, Local Soccer, AFC Ajax, Ravens

General notes as I see them

- Cam Phillips switches to No. 5
- McGlock back to LT
- Eric Gallo at center
- QB COMPETITION. Dang.
- Jerome Wright practicing at FB. Could see a serious battle at FB.
- Lack of Nose Tackles makes me sad, but Tim Settle will make me happy.
- Did Josh Trimble graduate or did I miss something?
- I remember Loeffler wanting Greg Stroman on offense, but he's getting 1st team reps at corner. Sorry Scot.
- Also, good for CJ Reavis getting 1st team reps at Free.
- Riley moves from nickel corner to rover. I like the veteran leadership that Riley can bring.
- Suprised that Chuck Clark is taking 1st nickel snaps. If anything I thought he would move to rover rather than Riley.
- This team needs to be healthy. Get well soon, boys.

I believe Trimble has graduated and left the program despite having eligibility left.

Holland Fisher at Whip? Yes please. That's got me real excited, a playmaker there would be huge.

Given his #, VT bookstore could really make some money by selling Nijmans jersey

Did anyone notice that Hughes is not listed on the Punter depth chart?

VHokie

I believe he had back surgery and will miss spring ball.

Now Miami wants to talk about it...

Ahh...I see him listed as injured.

VHokie

I was confused about that as well since he was on the top part of the depth chart with the offense/kickers instead of the bottom with the defense/punters/snappers.

Looks like there are still abundant bodies at TB despite certain issues. Has anything else come up about Shai or has anyone heard something?

Tyrod did it, Mikey!

Is Hansen really the answer at RT?

Our motto bringing spirit true, that we may ever serve you

Doubt it. But Clark or Osterloh are going to have to beat him for the job, it's not going to be handed to them.

Wiley, Brown, Russell, Drakeford, Gray, Banks, Prioleau, Charleton, Midget, Bird, McCadam, Pile, Hall, Green, Fuller, Williams, Hamilton, Rouse, Flowers, Harris, Chancellor, Carmichael, Hosley, Fuller, Exum, Jarrett

Watched the Hokies practice highlight video and McLaughlin looks like he has taken his conditioning seriously. Looked slim. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FaNuJ40qUo4

Is that him in green at 0:14?

"Tajh Boyd over the middle . . . and it's caught for an interception! Michael Cole, lying flat on his back, ARE YOU KIDDING???"

Bucky working with Burden too... mmmm

I see Juice on the Injured part of the depth chart but not Shai? Anyone know why he isn't listed at all?

His arrest got him suspended from team.

Forgot about that...You'd think he would have no problem finding a girl his age. Thanks anyway
