OT: Tennessee Coach Donnie Tyndall Fired

The Volunteers have fired their coach after 1 year due to upcoming penalties. Chris Clarke made a wise decision.

Williams, 42, found out how hard the ACC can be as the Hokies went 11-22 this season. It was his first losing season since his one-year stint at New Orleans in 2006-07.

Plus think of it in SEC/ACC football terms...would you leave, say, Kentucky or Vanderbilt to be the coach at, say, Georgia Tech or NC State?

Got caught up in the wrong place and time. Friend had him pawn an Xbox for him, friend said he didn't have his license, so he did it for him, (One would think that should have raised some eyebrows), Xbox comes back stolen.

Tennesse hiring any coach who is currently D-1 or from a major conference would be surprising to me. We are cheap and have an awful AD. We haven't hired a proven guy since Johnny Majors in 77. Seriously. This will be our 8th football/basketball coach in 7 years. The life of a Vol fan is a tiring one.

We will put up a much better fight this year against Bama, no guarantees until next year. The series has always been streaky. Each team tends to run off 5-7+ before it goes the other way.

We definitely feel your pain about a cheap AD who doesn't want to hire anyone. Of course, with TN it's a bit more understandable, as the constant rotating door of coaches has apparently put your athletic department in quite the financial bind.

That and blowing money on top shelf facilities in order to draw recruits that never pan out or even stick with the program to the end.

See thats kind of the thing, we were broke when he came in, and now were still broke. We wont owe Tyndall anything (fired with cause), Cuonzo left and Cal had to pay us a buyout, Kiffin left, Bruce was fired with cause. The only one were paying now is Dooley. We average about 99k in attendance in football and our coaches in every sport are paid an average amount. The idea that we are broke is partially propaganda as an excuse to go cheap. Not sure about Techs media department, but at Tennessee, they may as well write the pieces for most sites. They are extremely strict about everything, and if you step out of line your credentials are pulled. I covered fall practice for a site a few years ago as a fill in. Its crazy the rules they have.
