No Android love?
Wait, what? Why an apple only app? Especially since there are more android devices out there.
The App Store is considerably more profitable, so many apps are developed there first.
Also way, way easier to develop for since it's run on like four or five devices as opposed to the dozens a dozens of Android models available.
I do actually understand that, and I was actually able to see most of the practice/scrimmage in person. However, I was thinking from the point of view of why would our Athletic department not broadcast this on something available to more people, and also easier to use?
Do you know of another free commercial streaming service? Seems like periscope, even though its very new, is exactly the sort of thing to use for a scrimmage. The stream, if you haven't seen it yet, was shot from right behind the line where the coaches were standing. Without setting up actual broadcast cameras like they do for the spring game, I don't know how this could have been improved easily.
Also, not sure what could be easier to use than a URL for desktop/downloading an app for mobile use. That's how all streaming works
Edit to add: The Apple exclusive part is obnoxious, but it sounds like they're working on an android version. Better than no streaming though
Second edit: I guess they did have more cameras, judging by the highlight clips
After a 1 minute google search, livestream looks to be one.
They want to give fans more access, without providing a view point that can be used for gameplanning or talent evaluation by other teams. I think this app succeeded, because re-watching the scrimmage without having the ability to rewind was a real pain in the butt.
I pretty sure it works on chrome.
Android Users of the World, Unite! Having had both an iPhone and an Android, I'll stay with Android for the duration. I also still need to use Flash from time to time, no matter what they say about phasing it out. Plus they seem to withstand punishment better, without requiring a bulky case.
My guess is whoever is doing the filming has an iPhone.
Android users complaining about a lack of app support?

We get no love at all.....at all.
Did you learn nothing from the Zune?
What time is the scrimmage?
10:45 is when the practice portion starts. The scrimmage (50 plays or so) will be at noon.
Merci!
10:45? Weaver!
Hm. What is this I see, the kids are whining about how social media is used? No way.
Whining about operating systems, but close enough.
Well, which apps run on which OS. But, close enough. It was payback for the ageism that was on the other practice thread.
Will it be on the radio? I'll be doing yard work.
It does work on chrome.
LOL says right on the landing page that the Android app is coming soon.
Thanks for the link! Is the image rotated for everyone else or is there a way to adjust it? Little hard to watch...
Turn your phone to the side.
Little hard to turn my computer...
Same here. I'm trying to figure out how to rotate this thing.
True.
I changed the orientation on my desktop to portrait and it flipped the picture where I can watch it now.
is it sideways on chrome for anyone else?
EDIT: never-mind, reading is fundamental
I got the "Flip This" extension for Chrome and it seems to work well. Image gets a little squished, but it's OK.
Thanks!
Everyone looks like a little person
HUGE calves!
I thought that was sam rogers, my bad.
It sounds really windy
So now that the live has ended I think you can watch a replay.
FYI, I got it to work on Android by pasteing the link onto Chrome, but I only saw the ladt 5 minutes. :(
Cool app tho.. Soon it will be transparent on droids, which outsells Iphones. #makesnosense
Do I have to have a Twitter account? It keeps trying to get me to login to Twitter
Yes
Ugggh, now the VT athletic dept will try and break my social media resistance
