The Hokies aired some footage of the afternoon practice on the eve of tomorrow's scrimmage on snapchat. It appeared that Brendan Motley (who had several nice throws highlighted) was working exclusively behind the number 2 offensive line. Michael Brewer worked exclusively behind the top offensive line and had some really nice pockets to work on. Both completed some nice deep throws off play action.
Brewer worked mostly against the number 1 defense, however Melvin Keihn was playing left defensive end (in the place of Dadi Nicolas.) I don't know if Dadi is injured, has a class, or perhaps was just being held out of live drills, but Keihn was in on every rep where I could recognize the top defense.
The backfield is a bit more interesting. JC Coleman had a nice run where he appeared to elude Motuapuaka right in the cutback lane. it wasn't clear that this was a tackle to the ground drill.Trey Edmunds had a nice run on a jet sweep where I believe Hansen completely sealed Keihn inside. Edmunds also had a nice block on a deep play action completion by Brewer, but Motuapuaka ate him up on an inside zone fullback lead. McMillian and Jerome Wright also got top group tailback carries. DJ Reid and Stephen People's got carries with the 2's as did Trey on the snap chat. Everyone is getting lots of work with that group.
I know Hodges had one of the deep catches. With the angle on the snapchat it was hard to tell who else was in the mix, but it was pretty clear that guys were gettingb wide open pretty easily against the secondary. Because it is practice, it is worth noting that Loeffler is yelling which receiver is braking open for the two QBs. I didn't see Durkin or Ford get a rep, however this is a brief capture of some of the best offensive plays of practice.
Odds and ends: Frank says "lovely" after all the made field goals until Slye nails a 50 yards with the whole team hooting at him. The snapchat also includes a Bud pep talk and Hodges/Phillips working the jug machine.

Vtfootball. Make sure to hit the volume button on your phone and you can hear the coaches. Also, hold it down. Right now there are almost 3 minutes of clips.
I was waiting for someone to mention that holding down the button portion. I'm about to go "old man" what kind of app function is it that I have to hold down a button to watch an entire video?
If I could pause, rewind, and slo no it would be the greatest invention since apples fell on buttery flakey pastry.
I'm not even asking for all that, just a simply push once play button. Instead my meat hand has a thumb on the screen the whole viewing.
That's one of the reasons I don't really care for Snapchat.
I mean, that's not the point of snapchat... A snap is supposed to be the photographic version of that funny/cool thing you see and mention to your friend once. You discuss it for a few seconds, and then move on to the next topic. If it's a topic/image/video that you want to revisit, you would post to a different social network. The fact that the image/video "disappears" is merely a means to reduce clutter (whereas sharing the same events through facebook would result in significant clutter).
VTFootball is trying to give us fans insight into the day-to-day practice. If they wanted to open discussion, or show improvement/changes over time, they'd broadcast these videos through a different social media medium.
That being said, if you have a rooted android or jailbroken phone, there are plenty of tweaks that will let you save snaps so you can rewind/rewatch.
I get the point of Snapchat, I do. But for those of us who haven't quite gotten around to rooting their phones, it seems Vine would be a better alternative.

Even against the (yes depleted) one D, the offense looks pretty damn good. They were not tackling to the ground but holes were there and the QBs had time even with Vandyke blitzing a bunch.
Best part was the last JUGS clip where the caption said "Julian Edelman".

Word is that he has been getting open and making plays in practice better than anyone not in the top tier of Bucky, Ford, and Phillips.
Is Charlie Meyer still there? In Logan's senior year this kid had a lot of buzz. Is he just not playing up to the hype? Just another walk-on for depth purposes?
Keeps getting hurt, and now we have a lot of depth over him.
He got a scholarship I think.

Another tip to avoid having to watch the entirety of the post to revisit one clip: you can skip forward through individual clips by touching the screen with a second finger.

He did have a thigh bruise and was held out of practice, you were right. However, as French said, he scrimmaged the next day so it wasn't anything serious.

It's getting easier to accept what I am losing with age than it is to figure out what I need to learn to be able to express myself and not be left totally behind. What a world!
