Apparently the buzz is that TT has a great shot at the starting job.
Some mixed reports here of EJ Manuel's progress and Tyrod is hungry.
The Buffalo news has a long piece on the workouts as well.

Excellent
Can't wait!! He's worked hard and been patient. He deserves it!!
Looks like I may have to subject myself to a lot of Bills games this year.
I hope he's the starter. One of the most annoying LOLUVa fans I know is also a Bills fan. Oh the sweet irony of her having to cheer on a hokie!
He knows how to win!
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
Tell me somethin' I don't know fam.
What good timing. Just yesterday I was googling articles about the quarterback battle and was disappointed/shocked to find what was there still talked about EJ Manuel as if he was capable of starting. I'd say Matt Cassell is the bigger threat, although it's not like he's been lighting up defenses lately.
Hope he gets the chance but at the same time I worry for him since Rex is a defensive guru and a qb killer...
I honestly think Tyrod has Rex in his corner. When Rex was with the Jets, he attempted to snag Tyrod from the Ravens then, so it seems Rex has been keeping his eye on him for a while. As a defensive guru, he knows how annoying having a smart, mobile QB can be for opposing teams
Again, this is purely speculations and I can provide no data or sources to back this up.
You're 100% spot on. As a Jets fan, I remember Rex trying on numerous occasions trying to acquire Tyrod. A bunch of the Jets beat writers for Newsday, NY Post, ESPNNY, and other NY media outlets commented that Rex was blown away by #5's game film at VT and his development in the final two years. At the Draft, Rex pushed Tannenbaum (GM) to get another sixth-seventh round pick to pick TT. Later, after his first or second year, the Jets tried to trade McElroy for TMobile straight up, which the Ravens were very wise to turn down. Every year it seemed that Rex/Tannenbaum (and later Idzik) called Baltimore to inquire about Tyrod. Much like Geno, Rex saw Tyrod as a project QB who could evolve into a potential NFL starter. If T-Mobile wins the job, Rex will stick with him. Problem is, Rex's offensive philosophy of "ground and pound" doesn't lend to developing QB's to succeed in a throw-first NFL.
I'm not up on my Jets history, because, really I just see them as a media circus train wreck. But other than Sanchez (who I believe had too fragile a psyche to deal with not being a superstar QB), what QB has Rex "killed"?
Not trying to provoke, just asking the question.
perhaps a better question would be which QB has he had who has been good-to-great?
QBs who never develop (or regress) are forgettable...QBs who do something significant are remembered. If you can't think of any QBs who have played for Rex (I can't) that's not really a good sign.
Did someone say 3rd and 31??
Absolutely love those uniforms. Wish we could bring this puppies back
Agreed. One of my deepest regrets in the realm of Hokie merchandise is not buying one of those uniforms back when I was a student.
That uniform was too short lived. I loved the piping and the number style, before that awful futuristic looking crap came about.
I still got my vince hall #9 in my closet. Doubt it even fits me anymore.
Baller. As a true Freshman.
Fuck. Now I have to be a Bills fan.
Great news! We need a starting QB in the NFL!
Check.
Check, Check.
Jim Kelly needs to get with the program
Been hearing som rumblings over the past few days the Manuel is a very serious candidate to be released.
I remember watching that as it happened wondering how that ref could rule him out just shy of the end zone when he clearly jumped and hit pylon.
More.
I would never want to play that man in poker
Reporters ask some stupid and redundant questions. My roommate and I hate the sideline reporters.
Seriously. The college beat reporters aren't nearly this bad though. Some of the guys in this video could barely form a sentence and others were asking questions that were just answered seconds earlier.
#5, the only jersey I ever bought. I will say this however, watching him at Tech I remember thinking the biggest obstacle to him succeeding in the NFL was his tendency to hold on to the ball for too long. If he's worked that out, I absolutely believe he can be a solid starter in the League.
The Bills organization just needs to watch the 2010 ACC Championship game to see that Tyrod is better than Manuel
It is that strategy why the Redskins picked up RGIII... just sayin
I think it is incredibly ironic that Manuel passed on VT at least partly because FSU would "get him to the league", and here comes hometown VT QB TT threatening to take away all his hopes and dreams. Dont' get me wrong...I agree with Kelly. Manuel was always a good kid from what I knew.
But Tyrod's in town!
Step aside yo!
that might be the best gif I have ever seen.
Google "Buster Beans" and check out his Vine. His owner posts some dumb stuff, but then there are some real gems like this one.
Wouldn't be the first time Tyrod beat EJ
Beautiful.
He was so damn good. I miss him.
Man, Danny Coale could sure make a QB look good.
Sounds like Buffalo and Houston are now the two most likely teams to be on Hard Knocks. I'd love to see the coverage with Tyrod getting a shot at QB.
My read is that, yes, he will be getting first team reps...along w/ Manuel and Cassell. Am I reading it wrong?
You're reading it right, but personally I'm excited to see Tyrod actually get a legitimate shot to be a starter. I think he can win that competition.
Until proven otherwise, I choose to read this as Tyrod is the starter and will lead the Bills to a Super Bowl loss to the 49ers*.
*I have no idea if they're in the same conference. Couldn't care less, just roll with it.
rolling with it, but protip: that scenario is totally possible. (Also, THANK you for your correct use of "couldn't care less")
