My favorite part is Jim Davis' quote on Darryl Tapp. What could have been...

Awesome find. I always like to re-read this stuff with hindsight. Did Tapp ever play inside? This was my sophomore year, but I don't remember him playing at 268.

sigh. . . so much potential heading into that year.

As much of an embarrassment as Marcus has been....

I would love to have the pic of him flipping the middle finger to the WVU crowd... as a Hokie from WV, that bitter rivalry is close to my heart - and those of us, including me who were at that game can attest to how terrible the fans were to our team and fans..

If anyone has it, i would really appreciate you posting it.

Beat WVU

On point

That deserves some Peter Dill celebrations

Danny Coale is still open.

YES. I live in WV as well, so this rivalry means a lot to me. Going out with a win, along with Marcus' antics was absolutely beautiful.

I love Virginia Tech, regardless of the outcome of every game.

that season

that was my brothers freshman year and the year i started paying attention to tech in general, it was AWESOME to watch, i believe that was the year they painted the T on the V at UVA right? best prank EVER

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

The home game that year vs a ranked GT was up there for the most fun ive had at a VT football game. College gameday was there. We destroyed GT. I was a sophmore. Memories.

That game was also one of the best "Orange Effects" we pulled off. The whole crowd looked orange. I have a picture on my wall of it. Always brings a tear to my eye.

I cant even count the defensive touchdowns we had. Adibi had a pick 6. So did Ellis. And we had a blocked field goal for a TD. Pure craziness

@VTimHokie85

I was a junior in HS. My sister snuck me into the North End Zone. That was sooooo much fun

King

I almost forgot about Jeff King. He was money inside the redzone. Hope we can find another TE like him soon.

May we all get what we want and never what we deserve.

He's still my mom's favorite Hokie...

Best duos in Hokie history: Hall & Adibi, 3rd & Tyrod, Georgia & Liz

hmmm

sounds like we have some things in common then ;)

May we all get what we want and never what we deserve.

What we didn't know is that Davis was also talking about James Gayle.

amirite?

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

I seem to remember a huge number of the players on the '05 squad, eventually getting a shot in the pros.

Talent wise, this team may have been better than the 1999 team. There were playmakers EVERYWHERE, and the defense was absolutely scary. I don't think this team got along with each other as well as the 1999 team did well, though. This season had its bright spots (the GT, WVU, and BC wins) and definitely its low spots (the Miami and FSU losses and Marcus stomping on Dumerville's leg), but I don't remember this season for those things. I remember it for the abundant talent on both sides of the ball. I mean, c'mon. Marcus Vick, Cedric Humes, Eddie Royal, Josh Morgan, Justin Harper, Jeff King, Will Montgomery, Jonathan Lewis, Daryl Tapp, Nolan Burchette, Xavier Adibi, Vince Hall, James Anderson, Jimmy Williams, Brandon Flowers, Macho Harris, DJ Parker, and Brandon Pace all on the same team. Almost everyone of those guys went to the NFL, and 10 of them still play today!

I love Virginia Tech, regardless of the outcome of every game.
