The Ohio State University marching band forms a VT and plays Tech Triumph at the start of their pre-game show. [Michael Shroyer]
In 100 days Ohio State will have the opportunity to avenge its only loss of 2014. The books opened with Virginia Tech as a massive home underdog. Both the possibly underrated Hokies and the likely No. 1 Buckeyes return a bunch of familiar faces across the line of scrimmage. I don't know how this game, or Tech's season will play out, but I am certain of one thing. Labor Day night in Lane Stadium will be an epic atmosphere.
Allocate a minute and 40 seconds of your day to nostalgic purposes.

I have no idea how the 2015 matchup will play out, but right now I feel like I could straight-up run through a brick wall.
There was a video out there of the last INT returned for a TD with Bill Roth's radio call over it. That is the hype video I want to have for all the anOSU fans I know from my time living in that state.
Bud's on board:
YES. #BeatBrutusAgain
OT, but this video started autoplaying after BillDozer's video finished. It's sort of entertaining....
This is a classic. I gotta hand it to the guy though he handled it relatively well, I'd probably have punched a wall in his position.
Haha, I hear you. I'm usually a mess for a little after a loss. Nothing drastic, I just need time to myself.... Then I go about my day, which is usually binge watching college football
This is honestly one of the most reasonable responses to a loss I've ever seen.
I've watched that guy s videotape too many times. " forcing me too drink one or two more of these than I wanted too"
I think we've all said that a few times the past couple years
Best part: "It seems like they always lose big non-conference games, bowl games, hey, she's pretty hot."
Start at 1:40.
who's he talking about us or them??

I missed that the first time - classic!
His mark may impersonation is killing me.
This is hands down the most reasonable Buckeye fan I've ever witnessed. Honestly, this guy sounds like a lot of us on here after a big loss. Hilarious video too. He's completely right about Mark May, aka "Mr. Hindsight Himself". Say what you want about Ohio State, but that guy obviously can't stand the Buckeyes. I remember on gameday in Columbus I watched him pick VT and Michigan against whoever they were playing at the time. I traveled with two of my Ohio State fans (yeah, awkward ending to the rest of that trip), and they both flipped the channel after that "bold" prediction. Classic.
Well, looks like he won't have to worry anymore. No more Mark May on College Football Final http://awfulannouncing.com/2015/espn-is-taking-mark-may-off-college-foot...
I figure this wasn't thread starting worthy, as we don't really have anything against him like Buckeyes do
To be fair, Mark May was terrible. Dude spoke at the speed of light and all he ever did was hurl meaninglessness stats at you before you could even figure out what was happening. But yeah, he sure did troll Ohio State on the regular.
He just pissed because we beat him and his Pitt Panthers 72 - 0 when he was playing, including a punt return for a TD when we only had 8 guys on the field. The butt hurt is strong in him, it is.
Well, a punt return for TD with only 8 guys on the field? I'd be butthurt too.
yup. It's on youtube. Check it out, it is rather funny watching David Boston weave through the Pitt defense.
Made the extra point as well but with 11 players
If I had a nickel for every time I've ever heard this story, I'd be a millionaire as one of my close friends is a huge Buckeye fan and repeats it every time the name 'Mark May' gets brought up. He also claimed Boston's shoulder and back pads fell out as he was crossing the goal line, but I didn't catch that in the YouTube clip. This was the first time I had ever actually seen the video tho so leg for you.
That title is wrong - I wouldn't call that a meltdown by any stretch of the imagination. And he was spot on with the comment about Brewer probably sucking for the rest of the season! I actually have a lot of respect for that guy.
Actually, statistically speaking, the OSU game was almost exactly Brewer's baseline for his season average passer rating. He had outliers to the good (W&M, UNC, BC) and to the bad side (Wake, Western Michigan, Military Bowl), but his OSU performance was almost exactly average compared to his body of work over the entire season.
Yeah, I guess I was a little harsh with my comment. I suppose saying he sucked the rest of the season was too critical, but statistics aside, I don't believe there's anyone on here who could say that he had any game that was more impressive than this one. I would argue this was definitely the zenith of his season. That's not to say that I'm down on Michael at all. I'm very optimistic that he's going to do well in his second season, and I look forward to cheering him and the rest of the Hokies on this fall!
Yeah, wasn't trying to call you out or anything. Just saying, it's crazy to think about but statistically speaking, the Michael Brewer we saw against OSU was the closest thing we saw all season to "average" Michael Brewer.
I would, for Comparison:
OSU: 23/36 for 199 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs, 16 Rushing Yards, 1 Fumble
BC: 31/48 for 345 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, 1 Rushing TD
Brewer also had a little more help from the rushing game and defense against OSU than he did against BC. Against OSU, the Hokies managed 125 Rushing Yards and the defense recorded 3 INTs keeping the turnover battle even. Against BC the Hokies only had 69 Rushing yards, 30 of it coming on a fake punt by DiNardo and the defense and special teams weren't able to come up with any turnovers to counter the fumble Newsome lost on a kickoff return.
Brewer's game against OSU was impressive, but I would definitely say his performance against BC was more impressive.
Oh my god, my adrenaline level spiked after watching that video.
...tomorrow, we'll be in the double digits until Hokie season kickoff!!!
I'm so amped right now!!!
1:40? seriously Joe? I just watched that 5 times in a row!
I know it, I will end up doing borderline crazy things for tickets to this game
Dammit Joe, I just showered.
Keereist, now I gotta rewatch the DVR of that game tonight.
Awesome job/video.
However, I recorded that game on my VCR and I would appreciate some mention; as some of the footage looks very similar to what is on my TV.
(/s)
i regret that i have but one upvote to give...
(Mrs. Dave upstairs..."was that a laugh?")
You're not doing it right. Where's all the cursing and name-calling?
We have our popcorn ready and want our drama, dammit!!!
SHOOOOOOOOOOOOGGGGGGG
Pay him, Joe!
Oh snap
Way to be a good sport.
haha, I was waiting for this.
This has been a presentation of Raycom sports, a proud partner of the ACC and ESPN. Copywrite Shoog, 2015.
A lawyer from HomeTeam Sports will be in contact shortly.
That's the zing of the day
it's comments like this that make me wish he was still around to read them and be shamed...Oh well, we'll just have to laugh at him in his absence.
One...hundred...days? Is this supposed to placate me???

100 more days??????
FTFY
nah, he had it right the first time. #TEAMCAKE
Shoog wins the Internet today. Perfect. Classic.
If I may:
That was fun! Nice to have a +/-4 min length one too... Thanks for making and sharing!
Really good stuff, thanks.
If that doesn't get you hyped nothing will!
Amazing video, may turkey legs rain from the sky
Wow. Was that a RealDiehl (billdozer, mstrawther, vtphreak, Shoog, espn, raycom, etc, etc) original production?
It was a RealDiehl original editing job.
Everything else belongs to ESPN and Hans Zimmer, but I extracted the footage so therefore I own it 100%, etc. /s
Glorious!! I will never ever forget that night or that game. Damn it can it
be labor day already???
Something about the phrase "It's a feeding frenzy right now for the Hokies defense" that just sounds right.
Guys, I need to let the community know about my dream last night. Last night I dreamt we got walloped by anOSU 48-14. Now stay with me. Before we played BSU in 2010 I dreamt we beat them on a last second TD. We all know how that turned out. in 2009 I dreamt we pulled away from Bama in the 4th quarter (I might be making that part up but I definitely dreamed we beat them). Just like I dont claim to be batman, I just claim that no one has seen me and batman in the same room, I dont claim to be a prognosticator, I just claim that my dreams tend to follow a certain trend and hopefully this trend will continue
Looking at your track record, Mr. 8300A_Hokie'12... I'm going to have to ask you to stop dreaming about our big games, please. We appreciate your time.
trust me, I'd love for them to stop. The heartbreak is that much worse, and I will take some blame for our losses. But dreaming we get murdered instead...I refuse to say anymore out of fear of jinxing it haha
Damn. This is just fantastic. I actually don't care about summer anymore, the big event on my calendar starts in September.
for real. I know there's 90 some days worth of things happening before the game, but it's just "stuff stuff stuff FOOTBALL!" I think there's a vacation in there, but can't be entirely sure.
ok guys last year we had a poster whose wife would run a 5k or something and the hokies would win that week. We need to find him and make sure he has that scheduled for this year as well!
Paging Ohherro...
or is it petebuddywilson --> wait thats only for hardee's coupons or something like that??
definitely Ohherro. he's a task master. has his wife running every damn game, which we should all buy him a beer for.
cause clearly he's the one that's earned it, haha.
Also I think she is his gf/fiance as I don't think they are married yet.
haha, clearly.
I think you are correct, it's his gf. I bet he has already planned the entire fall schedule of races.
GF: Ohherro, why does the calendar say I am running in the Sioux Falls Charity Fun Run?
Oh: Surprise! I already bought your ticket. See? look at me fully supporting your passion for running.
GF: And the following week I am running in the Amarillo 3k Challenge to Save the Armadillos? Is that even a thing?
Oh: Of course it is! Big event, you can't miss it. Every runner's dream!
GF: And... this one in Fairbanks!?!
Oh: Look... I think it's safe to say you're booked pretty much every weekend from Sept through Jan. If you want that ring, you know what you have to do.... good luck!
Hell at this point I think TKP would just plot out a course and close off streets just to make a race for her to run. "The Inaugural TKP 5k-ish Fun Run"
For the Cure. . . or at least the win.
oh this was great fun guys!
GF needs to join TKP as GirlfriendOnATreadmill.
Pro-tip: Don't google 'girlfriend on a treadmill' with wife in home.
ShoogOnTheCouchTonight
Move over, Shoog, I just googled it with wife sitting beside me. Good thing my dogs sleep in the people house.
GirlfriendOffATreadmill, preferably. GirlfriendOnATreadmill may or may not exist already.
Wouldn't that be MareOnATreadmill, so that both can coexist peacefully?
I see, said the blind man, as he picked up his hammer and saw
... And saw what?! What did he see? Was there something under the hammer?
I must know!
Please, please, not that "old saw" business again.
Hey, to be fair I was genuinely curious about the use of your phrase. I wasn't trying to poke fun at anyone. I legitimately had never heard that expression. Now I know what it is. I learned something, and for that I thank you.
Never thought otherwise, just using it as a cheap way to hopefully get a chuckle out of that now obscure thread from any who'd read it. Obviously, it's run it's course, but please believe me, I never felt poked in the least. I had fun with it. I was raised by folks just filled with those obscure country/southern sayings and trot them out unthinkingly when in discussions. It does not surprise me that you, and I'm sure many others, had not heard the expression. I can honestly say I don't get a lot of references to pop culture and computerese common amongst the younger posters here. I guess it's part of being an "older" guy. Leg up for you, I always enjoy your posts, and I will hereby retire the "old saw" saw.
No need to retire it. I like inside jokes anyway. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't bugging you. Carry on. Oh, and leg
That's funny, I was worried it was bugging you! Thanks for your consideration, I truly appreciate it.
Hey OSU! Only 96 days, 8 hours, 19 minutes, and 40 seconds until you die!
Fencer, I want to give you all of the legs for the absolute blast from the past with this one. I had completely forgotten about that episode!
wow. I saw the caption earlier but couldn't see the picture (silly govt computers) but for some reason the caption stuck out to me. ....seeing the picture I remember why now. ...nostalgia...
If, hypothetically, I were able to attend this game...would anyone have a hypothetical couch I could crash on?
For sure, anytime, but the walk to the stadium is a bit far.
Thanks, I might just take you up on that! China is off Price's Fork, right?
Precisely. Just keep going past Blacksburg High School and don't stop for... oh, a good 7,500 miles. Can't miss it.
