Douglas Doughty of the Roanoke Times dropped this nugget last night.
Latest buzz I'm hearing is that a 2nd @UVa_Football QB could be leaving. Is Lambert looking around after Johns' ascent to top spot? #UVa— Douglas Doughty (@DoughtySports) May 16, 2015
In a bit of a surprise, Matt Johns (started 3 games in 2014) was ahead of Lambert (started 9 games in 2014) on UVa's post-spring depth chart.
http://www.roanoke.com/sports/colleges/uva/johns-to-enter-preseason-as-u...
"Matt did the best job," London said. "He was the most productive; he was the most efficient. It wasn't close. If it was close, we'd still be talking about going into August camp with two guys fighting for the same position.

Johns is dangerous, his mobility is sneaky good. I thought both of those QBs were solid, but Johns is more of a concern for us. Reminds me of that UMD QB.
I expected Lambert would leave. He's a starter somewhere. Really needs better development than he would get at UVA anyway. He's from the south and he's a bright guy. I could see Vandy, Tulane or Rice in his future.
Is Richmond looking for a new QB? Rocco just graduated after all.
So what you're saying is, Mike London has been working for UR all along... He figured out a way to funnel D1 talent to Richmond.
Brilliant!!
Ironic given that he barely figured out how to get D1 talent to UVA.
No.
I'm sure his fond memories of playing the Hokies will be cherished forever
Let's look back on our fond memories with Greyson Lambert, shall we?
For full effect, listen to this:

While watching this:

The reaction/body language of the uva 'cheerleader' in the background with arms crossed really says it all.....
Probably leaving after realizing that this could happen to him again this year. Looking for who doesn't play VT in the upcoming future.
The Atlantic division?
This could be his last experience as a D1 player
If Ken had gotten there a split second earlier, it could have been his last experience as a human.
Ken should have gone low and hit Lambert around low ribs/hip level. Would have completely upended Lambert and Ken wouldn't have had his bell rung on the play like he did.
That's sad.
What's more sad is he probably doesn't remember a bit of his last game.
After that, I really don't blame him.
Lambert seeing a better alternative than playing for London/against Bud again:

oh man, this gif....so accurate
Birthday. Daughter opens a Flying Elsa. Needs to play with it immediately. I put it together. Teach her how to set it off. She pushes the button and it promptly flies out the window of our 25th floor apartment, slamming down onto the pavement of the car dropoff below, shattering into a hundred pieces. I was at the toy store promptly after rest of presents were opened replacing it.
oh man, that's hilarious. ....not for her, of course.
LOL, when you linked that and Vera Lynn popped up, I was thinking:

That neck-whip tho....
Has there been a graph showing the QB transfers in and out of UVA under timecop? I just did some "googling" and I got lost about what QB's they have had on their roster during his tenure.
Edit: can't find a graph but did get a list together. Rocco transferred, Watford transferred, Lambert transferred, Cutler transferred, Sims transferred/dismissed, Lalich dismissed, McCabe transferred, Martinez quit football, Strauss transferred, Metheny transferred.
Edit2: so this appears to just a list of recent QB's under Groh and Timecop at LOLUVA. So it seems the team/school are the issue not just the coach.
This is what happens when you're forced to play Bud's defense every year.
I can't speak to all these guys but Martinez was there under Groh.
Pretty sure Lalich was too
What's the graduation rate for QBs at UVa under London? It's got to be really low, a complete outlier compared to the rest of the team. We should be using that as a recruiting tactic when going head-to-head against them for QBs (hopefully, we already are)
A decent number of them get their degree, but I've seen on their boards that the last QB that stayed for all 4-5 years of eligibility was Verica; as many as 8 early departures at QB!
All for the NFL, right? \sarc
According to Woody (Richmond Times), six transfers and one academic casualty. He called it unacceptable, I call it entertainment.
One of the biggest differences between our two programs us QB play. Theirs have stunk since Schaub.
And now they have everything on Johns (who I like a lot). With him healthy, they will be lucky towin 5. If he gets hurt, they might not win 2.
They got a decent season out of Michael Rocco...and then messed with his head by bringing in Sims. Other than that, you're right- nothing at QB since Schaub.
They're most effective QB play of late has come from a defensive back (Vic Hall).
He was really only effective against VT. 148 yards in 2 games against VT, 67 yards rushing against all other teams (and 54 of those were against 1-AA William and Mary).
Here you go. Credit to TSL
My guess is that he's looking at VT's future schedules and trying to pick a school that we don't play anytime soon.
In other words, there's no chance he's going to ECU.
I see what you did there
What will be tough and unaccountable for him is a possible bowl game. He likely hasn't considered that because he's never been to one while at UVA.
Or he has, and he just knows that no team would make a bowl game with him playing QB
How many scholarship QBs do they have now? 2?
Looks like 3: Johns, a sophomore (Mackey), and a redshirt freshman (Spaziani)
http://www.virginiasports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/va-m-footbl-mtt.html
I have no idea who those two guys are.
Matt johns will leave too after another 13th loss against Tech.
The next UVA QB tha beats us will get a statue outside Scott Stadium.
It's official now- Lambert's been granted his release and is eligible to play this fall. I'm sure there will be a long line of teams waiting to get him.
did he ever formerly announce he's transferring?
I wish I could edit the caption: "I see what YOU! did there."
UVA is like a quarterback prep school for FCS and division 2 players
I remember seeing Johns play a little last year and it looked pretty clear that he was the better guy, had a lot of moxie to him. He could be trouble for us sooner than later.
How many meaningful full tempo snaps does he get in fall pratice? No reliable backup gotta make coaches worry about full contact with him.
He started a few games. He has a lot of moxie but he still needs to learn; got away with throwing a bunch of jump balls last year.
They lost a few WRs from last year but inexplicably got Thorpe from UNC. He's a talent. Might be the second best player on their team.
Yeah, if he can stay healthy. He's broken his foot 3 times now, which I'm guessing has something to do with his transfer.
The same foot?
At some point they are going to have to fit him with an eye patch and a parrot.
UVA players after realizing that they chose the wrong school

Is that the Rapture?
No, it's UVA players after realizing that they chose the wrong school. It says it right there.
the typical loluva recruiticorn be like:

Related - UVA fans after realizing they have chosen the wrong school:
Based on his clothes, I think he chose correctly.
I'm pretty sure he'd fit right in at UNC in that outfit
My wife was starting grad school. We were at the first meet and greet for all the students. I walked in and saw this guy. I immediately told my wife to go and ask if he graduated from Dook. I was correct, all from his clothes.
If he transfers he's going to have to change his name...Greyson Lambert. It just oozes UVA.
Greyson Lambert Bottomtooth the Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiird
Vandy would be a good choice for him, just based on the name fitting equation. Maybe he can pick Lafonte Thorogood's brain about that decision
Well, it depends. Does he pronounce it "LAM-bert," or "lam-BEAR"?
Are you suggesting he could
be deportedtransfer to France?Conversely, he could go to muppet school. I heard they needed a guy with a good arm.
So I saw of tweet of his about leaving after his 3.5 years there. I understand he's leaving because of the football situation, but how is his academic plan affected? Unless he graduated early, it seems odd to leave that close to graduation.
He got a degree. That's why he's immediately eligible to play elsewhere.
A little piece of me wishes he would transfer to VT, sit the bench all year, then we play him in the LOLUVA game and beat them with their own quarterback.
So you're saying he would actually look like this? (Minus the LOLUVA logo and such, of course)
Yikes! Good job on the photoshop (or whatever it is) but that logo with those colors will give me nightmares for a few nights. thanks a lot.
I can't take credit for it, I pulled it from an earlier thread about how teams would look in their rival colors. Some scary stuff on there. It had Brewer in WvU colors and LOLUVA colors.
to be fair the only play he should come in to play is the victory formation.
But I don't think he knows what that is.
I think they call it the surrender formation at LOLUVA.
TJ always did admire the French....
Between summer classes And the occasional early enrollment, it's not uncommon at all for guys to get their degree in 3 years or so. It's not even uncommon for a r-sr to be finishing up a masters.
But but but, college athletes have such hard work loads. How could this be?
Wow, there is now an equal amount of scholarship QB's and loluva spring game attendees!
I can't believe it took this long to get one of these! lol.
Its so funny how all of these QB's have one time or another been appointed their savior, and their trump card to us year after year. Lalich was supposed to be better than Tyrod, Greyson Lambert was the next Schaub, Cutler was supposed to start as a true freshman and lead the Hoos to glory over the Hokies and send us back to the stone ages and vault them to the top of the college football world. Its funny, I guess the fan base has to get excited about something but UVa is just not going to be good at football. Its just not what they are about, everything Cowherd said 10 years ago is even truer today.
Of all the absurd things in boohoos football, did some really think Lalich was supposed to be better than Tyrod?!
Yes, u know they said it. I remember reading the argument on the sabre or something and they would just end saying you got yours, we got ours, we will see how it plays out. And we did
Lalich was highly ranked in the recruiting rankings and they were the same class I believe. That fanbase is just something else, it really is
I remember one telling me Watford was the gonna be the best since Schaub. And then another one tell me Bucky only came to Tech because he didn't want to compete with Turtle.
Oh yeah haha the great Turtle that never played a down. I hope he enjoys bragging about his high school days.
Knowing a bunch of 'hoos, they have abandoned all hope for their football program and now claim that they never really cared anyway. Baseball and basketball are their new "loves", but they can't fool me. I know damn good and well that they care and it chafes their blueblooded butts to the max. I've been to too many football games in Scott, and them with me in Lane back when they occasionally did have a semblance of football for them to be able to so blithely declare their indifference. For many years, they used the old "well, you're not in our conference, and we're really only all about the ACC" whine to explain the supposed lack of a rivalry, claiming it existed in Hokie's minds only. Ha! Let the world spin backwards one day and (Heaven's forbid!!) they beat us and see how much that non-rivalry means to 'em. May that day never come, but mark my words, if it does, there won't be enough Zima on the East Coast to fuel their parties.
The day UVA beats VT, Viagra and Cialis stock will take a hit as they both lose market share of a major demographic to ESPN replays of the game.
if that day comes, and remember that's purely hypothetical...expect to see Zima brought back onto the shelves and sell in record numbers all over central Virginia
Don't forget Dan Ellis being better than Michael Vick.
Every decision that Mike London makes, from choosing his QB1, to choosing which deodorant to use; YOU KNOW he's asking himself, "Will this help me finally beat the Hokies?"
And that is glorious.
And you also know that no matter what he chooses, the answer will still be, "No!"
He's like a modern day Sisyphus, if Sisyphus used to be a cop and could only get the rock about 2 to 4 pushes up the hill before it rolled back to the bottom.
IT'S ALL ABOUT DA "YOU"
In other news the Titanic lost another captain.
following the lead of the multitudes of rats that jumped ship as it started sinking...
Edit: OK, I know, I'm prone to hyperbole. Multitudes was a gross exaggeration, they never had that many fans.
I think all stories about LOLUVa transfers or graduations should end with something like "Lambert is the 42nd QB to leave the program without ever beating the Hokies." In fact, some variant of this could wrap up all LOLUVa related stories. Until it is no longer valid, it would be great if this became the "cartago delenda est" of TKP.
This is gold
They really are DBU!!!
...Of course, DB doesn't mean Defensive Back.
Just for fun, here's the combined totals of UVA's QBs under London:
1311 completions, 2278 attempts, 57.5% completion, 14674 yards, 6.44 YPA, 83 TD, 80 INT, 116.66 QB Rating. The average season based on those stats for a UVA QB: 2934 yards, 16.5 TD, 16 INT.
Michael Brewer last year: 59.4% completions, 2691 yards, 6.1 YPA, 18 TD, 15 INT, 117.4 QB Rating. Imagine 5 years of a more error-prone Brewer, and you've got UVA QBs under London.
Most important stat:
0 wins against VT.
I don't like basing things solely on wins/losses because under that standard I have to say nice things about Mike Glennon. I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before that happens.
Mike or Sean??
No idea how I managed to flip those two in my brain.
To all Hoos when it comes to beating VT at football:
Well Lambert looks like he may have traded up. Richt confirmed he is recruiting him. LOLUVA to UGA, sounds good for the kid.
Well, everyone who leaves LOLUVA is trading up, technically
UVA QB transfers to UGA
Former Virginia QB Greyson Lambert told ESPN's Joe Schad that he will transfer to Georgia. He has two years of eligibility and would be immediately eligible to play. He had 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in nine starts last season for Virginia.
NO THIS IS TERRIBLE
If he goes there and does well, it finally shatters the feeble beliefs of the Hooville that Fondu is a good talent developer, and that will be the final straw. He would be fired, and that would be terrible!
I was going to say it would be awesome to see him do well at UGA after leaving LOLUVA. But you have a good point. In order to keep fondu Lambert needs to go to a smaller school that no one sees. That or not get the starting job at UGA, which would be fine as well.
I worry about lots of things.
UVA finding a competent Head Coach for their snow-angel team does not make the list.
Search History
Jacob Park -- Transfer to VT!
would we really want a kid that transfers to us because a UVA reject lands at his school? don't get me wrong, I know we wanted him badly out of high school and I haven't followed him at UGa...just saying is all
If he can play and is good, yes. It's like the pre-owned Aston Martin ad. "You know your not the first but do you really care?"
Um, yes?
Reading some interviews he gave I'm not sure he is a good fit.
Damn ...I get a downvote for reporting news (with a source)...to whom ever did this , thanks, Rocco...You suck!
let's even you out. here's one on both posts. but don't sweat the downvotes.
Oops, that was me. Fat fingered it. It's been corrected, sir.
.
In his latest attempt to become Frank Beamer, Coach Fondue has acquired a Brewer via transfer.
Wow, the jokes really write themselves, don't they?
lolwut
seriously, what are the odds? (paging Joel)
On a related note, Cutler is again lookin to transfer.
Not really, but who knows? give it a few days
Not just a Brewer, but a Brewer from Texas.
So does this mean it could be our Brewer vs their Brewer battling for the Commonwealth Cup in November???
Does this mean the Corwin Cutler transfer is back on now?
Edit: I should read the other comments before posting
My reaction:
Not sure if Timecop:
1) wants to delude himself that he is the HC at VT or
2) thinks having a QB with the same name will help him win against us (b/c reverse psychology????)
Regardless, this damn conundrum is making me hesitate from LOLing harder.
Phillip Sims redux.
He's leaving, on a jet plane, don't know when he'll be back again...
Guess who was just named starter for UGa's opener?
That Mike London... Such a good talent evaluator
Oh, he can find talent. Now, doing something with that talent...
Note I said evaluator, not locator... He can find talent just fine. Not having him #1 on the depth chart forcing him to transfer where he immediately starts on a better team in the SEC?
That's on Timecop
Woooow, that says A LOT about the UVA football program.
I really wonder if Timecop is a self-aware enough dude that some day, he reads one of these headlines and just goes
I prefer to think he just lives in his own, disillusioned world.
Hey, y'all!
Meanwhile, somewhere in Hooville.
UVA. Fans are saying that ML felt entitled to be starting QB and quit when his coaches challenged him to get better. Lol
ML or GL?
