This means there is now a 0% chance that VT and Navy will play in the Military Bowl...

Gag me with a spoon... ND v. Aubrun and OSU v. Baylor in the playoffs.

This is absurd on so many levels.

The AP are all sheep.

Or maybe they're just trolling.

All of those picks are defensible. Please lets hear your brilliant picks

I don't know if ND is defensible, but otherwise I'm in agreement with you

Onward and upward

They return like 19 players of a pretty talented roster. Personally I wouldn't put them there, but it isn't an outrageous pick.

So basically, they are predicting VT to finish between 7th and 9th in the ACC:

  1. Notre Dame - Playoff Bid
  2. Clemson - Peach Bowl (note - ACC no longer has a Peach/Chick Fila Bowl tie in, this is an at large bid since the Orange Bowl hosts a playoff game this year)
  3. FSU - Russel Athletic
  4. GT - Music City
  5. NCst - Belk Bowl
  6. Pitt - Pinstripe
  7. Duke - Quick Lane
  8. VT - Military
  9. Miami - Independence
  10. Louisville - Sun Bowl
  11. UNC - St. Petersburg

Here's a list of ACC Bowl Tie-ins.

I agree that Notre Dame (if we consider them ACC), Clemson and FSU are the class of the ACC. Once you get past those three, it's a bit of a mess. I think the next rung is GT and VT. I'd include Duke, but they have lost the two biggest game changing players to graduation, so I think they will take a step back. I've heard a lot of people high on NC State this year, and I'm not sure why (granted, I didn't watch one of their games last year).

New to the board and here for obvious reasons but you guys are a much better team than the Military Bowl. Russell Athletic Bowl maybe but definitely a teir one bowl team IMO

Welcome! Thanks for the compliment.

Appreciate it and congrats on the win last year! I really wanted to talk about Foster's gameplan for Sept 7th but I don't have enough turkey legs to start one. I'm curious to see what he comes out with that night because each QB brings something a little different than the next. On top of that he won't really know a starter until the week of the game which makes me wonder how much that would effect game planning.

He's no good to me dead.

This is gold

Guarantee it will not be the same.

Also, welcome to TKP!

@AMB4VT

I think you overstate the importance of which QB is in. They all have slightly different skill sets but they all will still run the same type of offense. The QB choice will probably influence how often Foster calls certain plays but I don't think it would affect how he designs his schemes. All three QBs are so talented it isn't like they can't run every part of the offense at least proficiently. It is different then our situation last season where Motley couldn't run much of the offense proficiently when he first got playing time so he ran more read-option plays.

That does make a lot of sense. The most staggering thing in my eyes is how much offense you return. What is it like 80% of the points scored last year are returning? Thats unreal.

Actually, it might be 100% of points scored returning.

It'll be 100%, pending a suspension.

Edit: Blue Collar beat me to it.

Ehh...Foster will probably know which QB plays before Urban does. Yes, he is that good!

The obvious reason this is a non starter is what bowl game takes a repeat team? Even one that sells out the bowl game.

Belk bowl (I'm sure there are many others, but that one comes to mind)

EDIT: They invited LOLUVa in both 2002 and 2003 (yes, LOLUVa did go to bowls at one point in time). UNC went in both 2008 and 2009.

I think the Military Bowl would love to have us again. It's a one hour drive from our largest alumni base.

Louisiana Lafayette just played (and won) their fourth straight New Orleans bowl.

What's Important Now

Not only that. Why would a bowl with only 30,000 seats take two of the handful of teams that could fill most of that stadium on their own?

No respect, no respect...

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

Happy hour came early, but I will give my top end prediction:
ACC championship game and a 900yd+ rusher......

I agree....And....our first 1000 yard receiver!

"Some people think football is a matter of life and death....... I assure you, it's MUCH more serious than that" ...Bill Shankly

our first 1000 yard receiver!

that's not that far out there..considering we only really have 2 receivers...

Onward and upward

Which actually makes it more likely to happen.

yeah that was my point...I was saying that a 1000 yard receiver isn't a far-fetched goal since we only really have 2 receivers

Onward and upward

Oh, my bad, read it the other way around. Yeah, agreed. Although, I'm betting Bucky get more yards than both receivers.

I'll have to disagree on the total yards. Though I will say Bucky gets more TDs and YPC. On a side note, Bucky will also hit more airplanes and satellites throughout the course of the season.

I don't see him playing a lot of TE honestly. I think he will be used as a massive WR. Like Mike Evans.

I think Loeffler would like to run him in tight end sets more often to keep him matched up with linebackers more often but unless another viable receiver turns up Loeffler won't have much of a choice.

I have a gut feeling that Asante or Knowles is going to step up.

I have a gut feeling they won't. Maybe a rFr like Bradshaw will step up.

Bradshaw has been chirping crickets due to injury this far. I don't expect to hear his name called this season.

Joshua Stanf- *Quickly reseals can of worms* Never mind.

So lets say we have another Military Bowl type season. What happens next offseason?

Let's just not say that.

If you play it, they will win.

6-5, 10-1-1, 2-9, 3-8, 6-4-1, 6-5, 5-6, 2-8-1, 9-3, 8-4, 10-2, 10-2, 7-5, 9-3, 11-1, 11-1, 8-4, 10-4, 8-5, 10-3, 11-2, 10-3, 11-3, 10-4, 10-3, 11-3, 11-3, 7-6, 8-5, 7-6, 7-6, 10-4, 9-4, 6-7, 8-5..........

Honestly, I'd rather have a low-end prediction like this than an unrealistically high one. Gives the players extra-motivation (possibly), and keeps them under the radar.

Plus for every prediction like this, there will be one putting new year's six predictions for us( putting best case scenario instead of realistic one as your prediction to boost interest in a particular game. ESPN does this on a week by week basis for SEC "heavyweight matchups" and Season Opening games, and this year should be no different).

Yes,that's the Hokie Bird riding a camel. Why'd you ask?

Notre Dame in a playoff bid??

Please.

I also hate the fact that they are somehow included in the ACC when they aren't in the ACC for football yet they get to steal our bowl bids. I can't stand them, which is sad cause I used to love them growing up.

Am I the only one who noticed the horrible formatting when I first looked at this article? It looks like a grocery list with the bowl names and participating teams just in one long column without differentiating the bowl games and the teams.
