Bitter blog - Who would you put on Virginia Tech's players-only Mount Rushmore?

Bruce Smith, Michael Vick, Tyrod Taylor, Eddie Royal. This is due to me only knowing about Virginia Tech football from 1995 - present. If there could be a fifth it would be Danny Coale.

I think you misspelled "Marcus Vick."

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

Above all else: Frank Beamer head looking down at the Hokie Mt. Rushmore (sans 'who farted' face' of course)

Below that spot: Bruce, Vick, Kevin Jones, a Fuller Family portrait?

Are we limited to 4 spots?

Honorable Mention: Tyrod, Andre Davis, D. Wilson, an Adibi family portrait

"Are we limited to four spots?"

You ever seen Mount Rushmore?

(I kid.)

I all fairness there have been only 44 presidents, but ten times as many fan favorite hokies. If this is a Hokie Mt. Rushmore we might as well go big; seemed to work for the practice facility.

Andy: Keep up the good work, this is helping me through the dry season.

Smith, Vick, Loria, and a hydra of the Fullers

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Even as a Hokie, Hydra-Fuller is terrifying to think about.

Bruce - Sackman
Loria - History
Moore - A giant set of those eyes.... damn
Vick - so close

honorable mention - Kyle Fuller, but only if includes giant robotic arm with ball swatting motion

Edit: fixed as per help below

It was Moore with the crazy eyes, not Brown.

Brandon Flowers x 4

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

He could have a different look on his face for each one.

I concur, with one small exception...

Three Brandon Flowers, and Mrs. Fuller.

Leonard. Duh.

This is almost a generational/fan dating test. How old you are and when you became a fan of VT will larger answer this question.

Frank Beamer, Bruce Smith, Michael Vick, and MAMA Fuller

D@mn you jhnbrynt!

Beamer, Smith, Vick, Tyrod, Mama Fuller.

On a related note, nicely done, jhnbrynt

I feel like your counting and reading comprehension levels are at the level of... well a horse.

Bruce, Vick, Moore, Kevin Jones

Alternate: Corey, Vinny, Kyle, Kendall

I just sit on my couch and b*tch. - HokieChemE2016

Bruce, Vick, Moore, and Tyrod.

I am open to subbing out Tyrod since he is the only one without a major award. He would be the best choice if you skew towards the more recent players. Otherwise, you'd go with someone with a retired jersey like Loria.

"11-0, bro"

Frank Loria, Bruce Smith, Brandon Flowers and Corey Moore

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

No Corey Moore. His stare would frighten small children who come to visit.

Mt. Rushmore? Sounds too political so please. I'd carve out Charlottesville.

"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. " Rocky B.

I laughed.

Crazy Horse...on a treadmill

Winner

Errr, I personally was around at the time, and can absolutely attest that Frank Beamer was, in fact, a football player at Va Tech. But I do get the idea of the article.

Reel men fish on Wednesdays

Of course, but his accomplishments on the field themselves would not put him on anyone's Rushmore.

Hokies United l Ut Prosim

Dude he had that one pick 6.

Fun fact about Crazy Horse, ..it'll be completed long after we're all dead at the rate that they're working on it.

Vick, Corey Moore, Bruce, Beamer... If Beamer isn't allowed, then Tyrod

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

An oversized Vick. Also Smith, Moore and Brown. It's hard to pick just 4 but I think it would be them.

If there was a motion to put this guy up there, I wouldn't object.

Seriously, Sam Rogers is gonna kill all ya'll.

After we finish this exercise, how about an all walk-on Mount Rushmore?

I like it. John Engelberger, Jarrett Ferguson, Will Montgomery and Sam Rogers are my picks.

Cody Grimm?

John Engelberger, Cody Grimm, Sam Rogers, Willie Byrn/Jack Tyler???

No, I am not.

Yeah, Grimm instead of Rogers as of today. Rogers very well may earn it, but he hasn't yet.

Cody Grimm could be in consideration for the overall mount rushmore as far as I'm concerned. He's not on mine, but still, the dude was a damn animal

I completely agree, if we are talking productivity alone he could at least be in the overall Mount Rushmore Discussion.

Cody for sure makes the "Walk-On Mount Rushmore." If we are talking just productivity, you'd be hard pressed to find three players more productive than Engelberger, Grimm, and Tyler.

I am the only one giving Will love here. The guy is a long-time NFL player. Not bad for a walk-on.

Vick-Duh
Bruce-Duh
Hunter Carpenter-Old School
Carroll Dale-Ditto

Whadya mean I can't take off my sweater? I'm HOT!

Vick
Bruce
Moore
Beamer

These four individuals didn't just change the outcome games, they changed the direction of the program.

If Beamer isn't allowed... the other three are givens, and far beyond anyone else IMO. The fourth spot would have to go to a player who routinely changed the outcome of a game. I'd consider Cornell Brown, Tyrod, Kyle Fuller, Ryan Williams, maybe Dadi by the end of his career? I never saw Torrien play, but if he was half the player that he is a coach, then he deserves a spot.

Surprised no one has mentioned DeAngelo Hall.

He is in the poll under Bitter's column.

Suggs, Jones, Williams, Wilson.

What i thought it was a RUSH more?

@VTimHokie85

Mike Vick, Tyrod, Bruce Smith, & can't decide between D-Hall/Flowers/K Fuller...

Bruce Smith, Mike Vick, Tyrod Taylor, and Dell Curry.

Who says basketball can't have a spot?

This one all day

"That kid you're talking to right there, I think he played his nuts off! And you can quote me on that shit!" -Bud Foster

Vick, B. Smith, C. Moore, C. Brown

Vick and Smith, #1 NFL picks solidify their spot.

Corey Moore was a true fan favorite and the most dominant player in college football maybe his last two seasons. Brought home all the personal hardware and was a leader on a national runner up team.

Brown was the first dominant defender of the Beamer era and was national player of the year for a defender, correct? Big East titles and Sugar Bowl win should solidify his spot.

Alternates-Suggs because of his insane TD numbers, Tyrod because of ACC titles and POY honors as well as team records. Im sure there are more but not many that had the impact and were on winning teams like these.

No mention of Mark Leal? Blasphemy!

(Seriously, it's Corey Moore and then either Tyrod or Cornell Brown. Can't go wrong with either.)

I'm going with the top 4 (first)names of Hokie players here.
1. Vegas (Robinson)
2. Macho (Harris)
3. Xavier (Adibi)
4. Kam (Chancellor)

If it ain't orange, it better be maroon...and if it ain't maroon, it better be soon!

If we are going solely by greatest names, then #1 is and will always be George George.

"Nope, launch him into the sun and fart on him on the way up"

"11-0, bro"

Got to go with Bruce, Vick, Loria and C. Moore.

On a semi-related note, Happy Bruce Day to everyone at TKP!

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

As per holiday tradition you shall say "Hi Bruce" to everyone you meet today and should you meet someone actually named Bruce you shall say loudly "BRUUUCE!".

Go out and have a Bruce of a day everyone.

So his birthday is 6/18, is that where he got the #78?

I would have to go with Vick, Smith, Taylor, and Moore. The reason why I picked Taylor is because he was largely responsible for the success of the Hokies during his tenure as a starter. He helped perpetuate the success of the Hokies in their early years in the ACC.
