Really? This one again? Please tell me people aren't looking at the flight tracker stuff again.
It very well could be some Auburn coaches (Gus Malzahn) coming in to talk with our coaches about Bama. I thought they only met with other coaches during the Summer, but I could very well be wrong.

Professors, Deans, Board Members, guests for lectures or research events/conferences, etc, travel to and from the university on a regular basis. The airport at Tech is not just used for football related matters. I would make the assumption that most of that airport usage is not football related

According to the airport website its a public airport and mostly used for business executive, researchers, and academia. Members from research companies not associated directly with an athletic conference or even VT for that matter come in and out of the Corporate Research Center located conveniently next to that airport on a weekly basis for business, education, seminars, meetings, etc
But yes also athletics will use the pad from time to time, but it's public it could be anyone.
These airport posts are a little silly sometimes. The excitement that it could be some SEC executive coming to save VT from the ACC or some new name coach is always interesting, but probably not so.
but maybe..

It was announced in August, but it won't open til 2015. But, it does show some measure of research collaboration between the two schools, and may in fact be some business regarding preparations for opening it.

Nah a buddy of mine works in the CRC and said he's staring at the plane just sitting there.
Info on any of these:
1. Who was on it?
2. Tail number?
3. When it arrived?
4. What kind of plane?
My guess is they heard about how banging our food is on campus from Grimes and Lefty and they flew up to check it out for themselves.
Virginia Tech is a pretty big university. Lots of research and/or academic reasons possible.

Meh. Almost all of VT's academic / research collaboration is with ACC member schools.
This is probably somethign athletic related, but maybe not football related.

This makes more sense. I was 99% sure it wasn't football related but it was still baffling.
