Edit: Burden just tweeted this out recently but this does not imply that we will be getting a commitment today. I just felt like it was worth sharing. We have not gotten the Thomas Guerry tweet of commitment confirmation yet either.

Not to rain on another tweet here, but he's back for Bud's Lunch Pail Foundation Charity golf tournament. Surely his presence will help with the recruits this weekend, but it appears that was not the purpose of his visit.
Just ran into Bears CB Kyle Fuller here at Auburn Hills Golf Club. Flew in to play in Bud Foster's LPD golf tournament today. #Hokiesβ Kyle Bailey (@TheClubhouseKB) June 19, 2015

Hey guys, quick question here, has anyone noticed that we just seem to be doing worse and worse in Richmond every year, last year we didnt get that DT that went to FSU, from the high school that always gets VT players, among other misses. Then this year we already missed out on JJ Givens, a high 3 star from Richmond, those used to be VT locks. Is little Beamer still the recruiter there? He used to have so much momentum in recruiting, but it just doesn't seem like he is pulling in the big names like he used at So Car and even here in the beginning (Caleb was #1 or #2 in the state).

the DT was darvin taylor from Thomas dale. also missed on clelin Ferrell to Clemson. This season the top guy (Bracey) is also committed to duke. It's a problem, but not sure what we can do about it.
edit: both bracey and Ferrell come from Benedictine, which previously had been thought to be a feeder school with guys like Raymond minor, nigel Williams, etc. coming from there.

Recruiting as a whole has been better off over the last 2 years than it has been in arguably the previous 10.... But yeah, let's focus on the fact that in-state recruiting might not be as good as it used to be...
I mean no disrespect, but this is kind of missing the forest for the trees. I don't care if we don't recruit a soul from the Commonwealth if the talent on the roster keeps getting better and better.

If one coach in particular has had a noticeable decline in recruiting, that's worth noting. Shane has not been closing lately at the same rate he was when he first came to VT. Overall productivity is up, but that doesn't mean that every individual coach has improved on the trail. I agree that we don't care where the recruits come from, but we do care if one specific coach's overall results are trending downward.

I don't think you can fairly say that. Sometimes the cookie just crumbles the way it does. He had success in USC-E, so it's not like he doesn't have a track record of recruiting well. And not too long ago he got the likes of Joel Caleb and other folks in Richmond to commit to us.

Had a very solid track record here as well up until the last couple of cycles. Like I said, I really hope it's a lull instead of a trend. Not enough data to establish which it is yet.

This is an extremely new phenomenon, as we landed Raymond Minor and Holland Fisher just two years ago. Last year was rough, but I'd hesitate to call it a trend just yet.
As for Givens, it's my understanding we have a few guys ahead of him that we feel good about...

"Kumah" to the good guys.
....get it? It was a play on words..
Guys?
Edit - to add substance, I really like our odds given the competition. But we shall see.
Upvote for being brave enough to post a pun
Aaaaand upvote to nudge him to 3k legs
Nudge sub-thread.
Nudgeception?!
Yo, I liked you heard nudges, so I nudged your nudge and put it inside another nudge!
thanks! I didn't even realize that my leg count was getting up there. 3k...sheesh, I spend a lot of time here.
Friday? That's today! ooh boy oh boy oh boy! Lets hope Sandman16 adds some WR depth!
Anybody got a time for when he's planning to announce?
I believe someone said 5pm on another thread.
this. at his school.
Nice. Appreciate it.
Glad I could help. Also, might I suggest a name change? Maybe Burdens Axe?
Yeah I've been trying to figure out what I could change it too. Maybe Tellers Mullet
Word on the street is, he already shaved the mullet. How about "Wyatt the boy Wonder"
Mullet no more
How do you change your name? Do you have to create a new account? When setting my account up I didn't think too much about using my PID... Oops.
Ask Joe to change it. No you don't have to create a new account.
In related news, all complaints about the website should be directed here
Haha very funny!
I mean if you're going to stick with the WR coach motif, does it get any better than Beast of Burden?
I'd give you more than one if I could
Did we ever come to a consensus that Beasts of Burden was the new name for the WR corps?
Stop hogging all the legs!
OH WOW. Beasts of Burden. That's amazing.
FWIW

Kumah is from Woodbridge, not the 757. Likely just some visitors in town or another commitment from someone else.
Wayne Davis coming to town, apparently with some friends.
There it is. I knew there were some guys visiting this weekend, but couldn't remember who.
Yea I was curious about that too. Decided to post anyway haha.
I don't know who this is, or what she's trying to do, but it makes me laugh.
You don't watch Community?
LOL! My TV watching is pretty much limited to VT football, occasional episodes of Jeopardy, and a few bits of Archer.
Apparently we're trying to make an impression:
And boom goes the dynamite!

Coincidence...? Hmm or really good planning!
Maybe he was there for another purpose, but they still got him to get in with the recruits there, so...moot point?

Shane has not been pulling his weight lately on the recruiting trail, and that is concerning. Hopefully it's a lull rather than a trend.

Yep, I'm still going to wait and see to judge Shane's recruiting abilities.

Maybe we can get this kid too and make it a tandem?
Settle and Reggie Floyd are at the commitment ceremony. I'm sure its unrelated
