The Nats are having a VT/LOLUVA rivalry night on June 24 against the Barves. If you buy tix through the link on their site it looks like you will get an orange and maroon Nats tailgate chair.
I know some TKPers have done a night out at the ballpark in the past, this could be a fun game to go to. It sounds like they're going to have stuff set up all over the stadium, and the Marching Virginians will be performing.

It is probably pretty tough right now. New Era manufactured them for pretty much all MLB teams shortly after the exhibition game against the Yankees. I bought mine the day I graduated - as a little graduation gift to myself. Wish I had gotten the 59Fifty instead of the flex fit, but that was all I could afford at the time.

The VT/Nats hats at Nats Park are one of those psuedo-maroon and orange colored hats which looks discolored and absolutely awful imo.

There's also a T-shirt in the Nats team store that's maroon with the commonwealth outlined in orange and a Curly W at Blacksburg. I can't seem to find a picture online.
Hopefully they wouldn't have the UVA equivalent; it would be false advertising. They wouldn't know the first thing about W's in Charlottesville.

One of my buddies from when I used to work at Hokie Grill, Jarreau Williams, is singing the National Anthem at the game on Wednesday!
Jarreau is a member of the Nats entertainment team, an aspiring actor/singer, and just started working at VT's offices in Arlington a few weeks ago. He's truly one of the nicest, most genuine people I've ever met. I'm super pumped for him.
DC Sports Bog recently gave a glimpse into the Nats' college-colored apparel:
They also mentioned that the Nats had to pull the VT and loluva shirts off of the shelves because they were so popular and they wanted to have some in stock for Wednesday night. And in a twitter thread between @dcsportsbog and others, it was mentioned that the coloring doesn't look great on the VT hats due to the lighting of the photos (they didn't have WaPo staff photographers, just two bloggers taking cell phone pics), and that they look more authentic in person.
Good lord just buy me all of those things.

I saw the hats in the store the other day. The orange is off. They could almost be mistaken for Redskins hats.

Was at the game last night and can confirm the orange is a bit off. Also they didnt have any out and when I asked the lady came out of the back with 3 of them and said thats all they had left. I can't imagine that they didnt hold back a bunch of inventory for tonight, but there might not be many left.
The color being "off" goes to the heart of that whole dicussion we had about VT logo. I think Alum had a lot to say about this.

I wonder if the orange is 'off' or if its actually our official shade of orange. Our official orange looks very pale compared to what we actually wear.
Our colors are technically (pun intended) burnt orange and Chicago maroon, and burnt orange is Texas' color if I"m not mistaken.
So yeah, we definitely don't use that color actively.

When they got to my house they looked almost pink. I called and complained enough that they actually took them back and sent me some different styles that were darker. I told them the official pantones to use and they said they already were using them. In order to get a maroon that was close they had to actually go darker than the 208 that is the official color. Thought it was odd.
This sounds like something the athletics department needs to streamline
It was really cool watching coverage of the near perfect no hitter and seeing the placard on the fence advertising the VT/Uva promotion. Got me a little excited.

It was a first pitch, didn't fill up until the 4th. Recorded attendance was 36,000 and it looked pretty close to that. I'm surprised that it didn't sell out. I know tickets were hard to come by the day of.

My eight year old had a blast, even though the Braves lost. He was thrilled just to see Shelby Miller pitch in person. Comical moment of the night was an old man's reaction to my son when the Braves tied the game. He and his wife, obviously Nats fans, had been talking to my son the whole night. It wasn't until the Braves tied the game, and my son went "Hokie", that he realized my son was wearing his Freddie Freeman Braves jersey. His reaction was priceless. He proceeded to tell my son, I'll let you slide this time, but only because your a Hokie. Serious though, I had more fun watching this fellow Hokie interacting with my son. He was quizzing him on Hokie stuff throughout the night, and he made me proud.
