So I know VT fans are a creative bunch. It is the offseason and times are...slow. So I thought it would be interesting to see what type of license plate Hokie fans have created. The "We Gobble" was originally created by my wife, we also own a coup that has I G (school seal)ble, so it is a theme.

This isn't mine, but it's a classic.

just upvoted to get to 38 (to 0) bro
Awesome, that's the first UVA game I got see live!

So your wife's tag reads "I Gobble"?....hmm, there's a joke in there somewhere
Surprisingly, the only time someone said anything to me about it was when I was in line at the bank and some guy says "are you a michigan fan, I saw your car". And I said "Why do you ask, because they suck and you think the car is a BJ reference?". And the guy said "No, I am a Michigan fan. I thought it stood for "I go Blue" (which I guess is what they say up there). It was a long and quite 20 minute wait after that.
I'm sure she gets a lot of thumbs up in traffic.
I seriously can't un-see this now. VT will never just be VT again
Is it bad that I first read this as "Squirt 1"?
Is it worse that I still do?
Lol. Same here. How are you supposed to read it?
USAFHokie: asking all the right questions.
Not sure if you're joking, but in case you're not, here it is.
"Square root of 1". In various programming languages, sqrt is the syntax for square root. Apparently (very recent news to me) the slanted VT logo is supposed to be a nod to square root of 1 which is just the number 1. Nerdy way of saying VT is #1, I guess
Well done. I was reading the comments going, "you guys need some more programming in your life."
On a side note, sqrt(-1) = UVA fan.
wouldn't that be an imaginary number? kind like the number of times the silly hoos have beaten us in football the last 11 years...imaginary
Honestly, I had never heard that before until very recently, and I recall reading over the vt.edu website created by the people who designed it (which I think has since been taken down, I can't find it anymore). I am not sure having it look like the square root of 1 was intentional.
Uhhh yeah. I was totally joking....
Ha ha ha....I had to go up and re-read it as well....I was like "Squirt 1?? Don't search that at work...."
Dont have it yet but Ive got a white F150 that will one day have the plate "XitWhite" and my girlfriend has a black car that she plans to get "NterNite"
Edit: I should have said that the "exit light" tag is already taken so I have to change it to white. And I've got a white truck. I do some pretty dumb things but not quite as dumb as screwing up Enter Sandman chorus
Shouldn't it be "XitLite"?
He's probably like "DAMINT!!"

I have actually seen the "XITLITE" tag. I saw it driving on 66 near East Falls Church/Arlington one afternoon. It's on a big black pickup truck and the driver is indeed a Hokie (I *think* there was a big VT on the back window).
I wanted to take a picture, but he was one lane over and couldn't get behind him with the traffic.
I was in Gloucester one day a couple of years ago and saw a vehicle, I think it was a van, with a life sized stylized but realistic paint job featuring Bud Foster and Stiney on the side I could see. Couldn't see the other side and couldn't catch the license plate because of intervening traffic. I have been looking for it ever since in order to get a better view, but to no avail. No need to wonder if it was a Hokiemobile, though. Also wonder if the owner's going to try to work Loeffler into the paint job, but it was obviously an extreme and expensive motif. Perhaps someone here knows of this vehicle and can complete the story.
That plate is on a black Chevy Avalanche. He's definitely a Hokie - he's a friend and was a roommate of mine at VT.
I've got a few actually, from a few of the states I've lived in. But I'm not sure how to embed a photo onto this forum. Can someone advise? Thx!
1. Upload your photos to a hosting site like imgur.com.
2. Type your post
3. When you want to embed your photo, click on the left-most button that is above the text box.
4. Copy the image's url and paste it in the URL box.
5. Press "Insert"
6. Press Preview to confirm your post is how you want it
7. Press Post
8. Reap your Turkey Leg profits :)
My dad chose "VPISU" because NC required the Tech tags to begin with "V" and limited them to 5 letters.
Got this license plate when I was in school:
Then the stupid DMV revoked my plates due to "numerous complaints" and what angered me the most about taking them not letting me renew the plates was that they wouldn't tell me what the threshold is to revoke plates.
It's ok though - I figured out a solution:

Unfortunately, the DMV revoked these plates as well and has blocked all of my attempts since then to get new ones.
As a bonus, here are all four plates together:

BRAVO sir! BRAVO!
What burns my ass about this is that I'm willing to bet that of those complaints, the vast majority were butthurt LOLUVA fans and not people actually offended because they thought it was vulgar.
If I saw a clever LOLUVA fan plate that I could technically lodge a complaint against because it could be considered vulgar I wouldn't. It would inspire me to create an even better pro VT plate.
Try BITES on a UVA plate?
I have personalized veteran plates. Only thing more important to me than showing my Hokie love on a plate. So, unfortunately, my LOLUVA hatred won't be realized in license plate form.
I think it's time to switch from suck to blow.
You got complaints over those? I ask because I see a truck riding around the area where I live that has "VT Sucks." Maybe I should be all petty and call DMV to complain.
Yeah they wouldn't let me renew online or by mail. When I went in to the DMV they said it was for complaints. Both sets have been to Lane Stadium North so I'm guessing that led to the complaints.
I wonder how many complaints it takes and what the standard is for rejecting or accepting one and taking action. If it only takes a few it would be easy to really mess up the DMV by complaining for any custom tag you see.
DMV seriously makes up all of their rules as they go along. It most likely depends on who's sitting in front of the computer at the time.
I was driving around one day and saw a tag reading "copsuck" or something pretty blatant like that...how did that even get through? I can understand "AGINAS", because if you're not looking at it on the actual plate....
I was going to get
"VirginiaPolytechnicAndStateUniversityistheGreatestSchoolintheMilkyWayGalaxyandHorsesOnTreadmillsMakeyourWildestDreamsComeTrue" but the DMV wouldn't go for it even after I offered to throw in a few extra bucks for the trouble.
Take the "e" off the end and it'll fit. You're welcome.
You'r welcome.
but did you offer Hardee's coupons??
Too lazy to take a picture but had NC plates that had the VT logo and VTALM on it. Still in my garage though.
Ok I'll be honest, Im jumping on an excuse to show off my car. But the VT plates pull it all together if you ask me
ironically, I can't see the picture of your car. am I the only one?
Crap. I thought it was all good cuz its showing up for me. Even previewed it to make sure. Thanks for the heads up fernley. Let me do some fenagaling to see if I can get it fixed
Happy to help but now I'm expecting one badass car
Upload it here. Then use that hyperlink for the image in here.
Alum, if it worked thanks a ton for the assist
Ahhhh the Challenger... noice. It would look nice and complimentary next to my Camaro... hah!
Hey if we could get someone with a stang we could represent all three muscle cars. I think that would be sick
that was definitely worth the wait. I've been thinking about importing one of these for a few years now. maybe next year...
I was super scared that your expectations had been set so high you were gonna be let down haha. Im surprised the Challenger doesnt have a presence in China!
I'm sure there's a presence... its just called Chillinjer and it only has about 150hp.
I actually said to myself, "I bet he has a challenger." So there's some serious Vulcan shit happening.
Dodge has one of the smallest presence in China for US car brands. Ford, Chevy, Cadillac, Buick even Lincoln all bigger than Dodge here. Recently the thing that everyone wants is a Tesla. I saw 1 mid-last year and now I see at least one every 2 - 3 days. There is a mustang and camaro in my development already, so adding the challenger would be straight money.
You GOTTA get a challenger out there. Teslas are awesome but theyre freaking expensive
Camaro's unite!
By the way, I also love the Mopar above. My father purchased the new Hellcat and its awesome.
The Cavalier Hotel appears to be in about the same shape as the Cavalier Football program, if not better.
(It also looks like it may be the type of establishment that charges by the hour. I wonder what you were doing there.)
Hate to ruin your joke but it's actually a pretty well known old hotel that they are currently renovating it's been around for close to a hundred years I think.
Haha I love my Camaro! And my license plate!
Props on spelling out hokie with limited real estate. That's impressive
Clever plate!
Oh a fellow RS vert owner... nice!
These things look best in the rear view mirror of my Camaro. :)
My 5.7 liter Hemi might have something to say about that!
Nice! That is the only Dodge I would ever drive.
I've always liked the Chevy Camaro. I never liked the Ford Mustang until the 2015 model year. They look awesome now.
I like the old models of Mustangs but nothing since until this newest
one as well. OMG it's badass. I want that Shelby so bad!
Following this topic, I actually got the plates before I got the car and couldnt think of anything witty at the time. Now that I have this beautiful piece of machinery, what if I got plates that said something like "VT RT" or something like that? HKEDGDE? Damn 7 character limit...
Need some help here.....how do you post pics ?
2Hokiesin1 posted above. Just follow those directions and you should be good.
Found it. Thanks
Plate I just got for my Tailgate Trailer. Will be updating again in DEC !!!
Your gonna be doing that update every December! Very nice! Props.
Thanks for your comment. I was trying to figure out what "11 narrow" meant.
Hopefully, you'll be updating it in the right direction.
If he has to start over, it's already there.
Please let that not be the case...
Have had plate TECH67 on car for 45 years . Ridiculously, 8 yrs ago was denied plate. MY 6T9 by Richmond dmv. Plate was issued then recalled.
Not VT related but topic related. Just saw this plate in the parking lot at
work: HUMMRS
Note: This car is NOT a Hummer. Wonder how this got past the DMV.
2nd Note: The plate is the Protect Pollinators but still...come on...
Because they're not very smart.
Sorry to disagree. With specialty plates come specialty messages. Hummin'boids need lovin' too!
Also, you ever heard a bee hive from within earshot? Humming is the word...
Buzzing describes the activity, but "humming" better describes the sound.
Requires no explanation.
what is so key about 3? is that a LT3 reference? Or maybe that 3rd down is key play?
Or the 3 could be a sideways "W" and the plate is about whiskey.
You are not the first person, and likely will not be the last, to think the plate means whiskey.
It is... 3rd down is key play. I'm a defense girl and had to incorporate a defense reference. Although, I do like the LT3 reference, too.
haha really? I thought it was whiskey for sure, but was trying to come off as naive.
I've always wanted to get CAFSTMPR for my maroon f150 as a kind of twisted tribute to MV5...
CAVSTMPR is a bit better as a tribute to Bud's destruction of LOLUVA dreams.
the funny thing is, that soccer mom probably thought she was getting a plate that said "UVA Family"
which makes it even better if you ask me. theres nothing more UVA than UVA making fun of themselves and not realizing it
It's like the NC State fan who had 'NCST MOM'. It made the rounds on the internet a couple of years ago.
This is me.
looks like you and your '16 registration sticker got into quite an argument there, NitWhitt
Don't even get me started on those stinking year stickers. I CURSE THE DAY YOU WERE INVENTED!
EDIT: need to hit the reply button...
Not the tags, but I figure this is as good of an opportunity as any: My subtle-ish Hokie themed hybrid.
Just got this one a few months ago when I moved into DC: (a little surprised it was available)
When I lived in Arizona in 2012 (and had two personal vehicles), I had to represent VT out west with these:
The AZ plates are now wall decorations for the man cave.
Don't have Hokie plates in SC YET, until then
close by to Highway 17, a little white church behind you?
Business 17 in Murrells Inlet.
My ground transportation when I'm not in Slave I has these tags:
I just saw your car in front of Homeplace. Good choice!
Small world, we're just in town for the weekend and decided to bring a new future Hokie to check one thing off the bucket list. It was a good choice, however, the drive back was quite difficult fighting the food coma.
PSA: For anyone who hasn't been to Homeplace in the last year (me included), they now charge extra for the dessert cobbler and do not leave full pitchers of arnold palmer mixins at the table. Something about rising costs of products and too much wasted food.
Absolutely small world. I'm only in town today with future Mrs. VT_Fencer looking at wedding venues.
Hahaha I'm totally showing this to future Mrs VPIhokieME
Wanted that one too!

I guess he didn't renew...

That's because he's rocking these plates now.
This would be a first. But... but.. I'm okay with that.
I get it. "VT, I'm Out!"
/r/CFB just started a similar thread, and everyone here needs to read the first three comments:
AlwaysChildish needs to be on TKP. That was very well played
Yeah, that won the Internet that day.
I love how the WVU guy bit his tongue to upvote.
I've been on TKP for quite some time actually, just with a different name. That being said:

I'll try one more time
It just looks so wrong in those colors. good representing though
Didn't realize about the colors until now. That color combo does make me nauseous. But at least I got the VT alumni license plate holder to balance it a bit.
So I'm driving around recently in SC and in seeing a lot of "VT" front plates, so since I have one on the front my car too I give the ole friendly hand on steering wheel wave. Yet not one single person has returned it, is that normal or am I being weird?
I'd sure as heck give you a wave back or be the first to wave.
Made up this trailer hitch cover for my truck a few years ago. I have an Alumni frame that you can see part of as well, but haven't gotten around to getting a custom plate yet.
Saw this on the way to work this morning. I chuckled.
idk if this is more funny or more sad that their fans arent only ok, but embracing the fact that one of their highest profile players was a thief..
