Florida State RB Dalvin Cook under investigation for battery

Tallahassee Democrat: FSU RB Dalvin Cook under investigation for battery

He allegedly assaulted a 21 year old female student outside of a bar on June 23rd. The Police are still investigating, and while no charges have been filed, the victim has indicated she will press charges soon.

It is worth noting that this occurred the evening after De'Andre Johnson was caught on tape hitting another female in the face, which eventually cost him a spot on the roster.

Per her interview with ESPN:

The woman, who lives in Tallahassee, told ESPN.com that she was approached by a man who was not Cook outside of Clyde's and Costello's shortly after the bar closed on June 23. The woman said the man asked for her phone number, which she refused to give him.

"I told him I had a boyfriend and wasn't interested," said the woman, who spoke to ESPN.com on the condition she not be identified. The woman said the argument became heated, and then Cook punched her in the face several times. Her friend ran to a nearby Tallahassee police car, which wasn't occupied, so the woman called 911.

"They kept telling me they were football players," the woman said. "They kept telling me to Google them. They told me they were football players and they could buy me in two years."

Between these cases and what happened with Jameis Winston, it is a wonder why any parents would allow their daughters to attend Florida State.

Wow. How dumb can you be? I mean.... Wow.

Here's a quote from ESPN:

"They kept telling me they were football players," the woman said. "They kept telling me to Google them. They told me they were football players and they could buy me in two years."

It was a catch

FSU edumacation... now seeing there will be a warrant for arrest out there.

I think this is more about how he's done the same thing another Seminole just got kicked off the team for, immediately after Jameis 'Walking Violation' Winston left campus. If he was the only FSU athlete to have gotten in trouble recently, my response would be 'Sounds like an asshole. Whatever.' But when you've got 3 guys... it's a trend.

It was a catch

Understood, I was just trying to have people think before commenting, was not pointed at anyone in particular. I just don't want a blog comparing (alleged) charges... which I probably did a poor job of wording.

I'm with you on this. I just wonder why we care about everybody else's problems so much when we're kinda dealing with some of our own. I know, it's the off season, but let's not make a big to do out of it. We sport a lot of glass in our house, too.

I'll stay with Jim for this one.

Once again: Refusing to jump to any conclusions on something before the facts are known:

I think it should be noted that there are already some obvious differences between this situation and the De'Andre Johnson incident. We can't just lump all assaults on women at bars by FSU football players together. Every situation is different warranting different consequences. There are nuances that must be considered when handing out punishment for things like this. For instance, while Johnson was a third string QB, Cook is an All-American RB. This is a very important distinction to make and will be given due consideration when determining the direction of this investigation by the Tallahassee PD and the prosecutors...

This would be even funnier if it wasn't sadly true.

But its getting to the point where even the Tally PD can't keep ignoring it.

A five star committed while another five star athlete facing criminal charges, that sounds like the FSU I'm used to.

HE GONE..

Don't worry, they'll lift the suspension for the second half of the Texas State game. He's on the Maxwell Watch, donchaknow

I wouldn't equate "suspended" with "gone" anywhere, especially F$U. Hell, Jameis was suspended for a game last year and he suited up and warmed up as if he were set to play...

"Exit light..."

we shall see but jameis was also the first domino to fall.. this is the 2nd charge of hitting a women in/near a bar in 2 days... the facts will come out but this doesn't look good for the whole university, they can't stay off ESPN/national news headlines.

Certainly at minimum, this is a PR nightmare, and at worst, the bad stuff everyone knew was going on in Tally is becoming even more obvious.

"Exit light..."

yeah shocking to see 20 athletes accused of sexual assault/harassment/violence against women between the FSU football and basketball teams since 2009.. that's a staggering number

Amidst all the other criminal behavior that as been allegedly swept under the rug by the Tally PD. The NY Times article from last year was pretty astounding. Of course, no convictions, or even charges, but where there's smoke...

"Exit light..."

there's 3 rack of ribs on the grill.. ohh wait wrong type of smoke.

FSU players seem to be a real hit with the ladies.

Female Striking University?

I have been trying to think of something clever for two days now. Thank you for this

I mean they have always been know for striking females, maybe they have just gotten the verbs and adjectives mixed up. This is all just a grammar misunderstanding. Maybe UNC could help clarify.

I'm an awful person for chuckling at this

Man Jimbo's offseason is just brutal. Divorce, 2 players assaulting women, and its still only July.

you're assuming these kids have fathers playing significant roles in their lives...it is entirely possible that this is not the case. I'm not in any way justifying what they did, just simply pointing out that these kids may not have grown up in the same circumstances as you and I

I was a police officer in the city of richmond for a few years and I will say this, A great majority of inner city kids do know have a male role model in the lives that are worth a dam. I'm not saying all but it's pretty close. I chased many kids that were all star speed and could have used their athletic talent to get ahead in life but did not have the guidance. Unfortunately this is the society we live in today.

Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher said he would make it a point to demand better from his players away from the football field. It looks as though banning his players from going out to bars is one of those steps.

"Recent events at Florida State University involving members of my football team have brought a lot of attention to the school and program. It is important to me that our fans and the public be aware that I do not tolerate the type of behavior that was captured on video and that was most recently alleged. We spend a good deal of time educating our student-athletes about appropriate behavior and their responsibilities as representatives of Florida State. The majority of our players are exemplary, but clearly we must place an even stronger emphasis on this, and I personally promise we will.

Since when do you have to educate players not to hit people while out partying?

Wow. Now that's what I call a turkey leg.

It took me far too long to get this. I am ashamed.

no football= more time for these kids to be distracted/act a fool

Acquitted.
