I've drafted him in my fantasy league every year since he left Tech under the assumption that goofy Joe Flacco would SURELY get hurt and Tyrod would come in and just crush it. Every year I had to let him go midway through the season. Maybe this will be my year?

Someone else will probably draft him before you get a chance to. That's how it always happens for me.

Always good to hear about my favorite former Hokie has a viable shot to start at QB.

"Now Miami wants to talk about it." *Cue Enter Sandman*

As a former 5* QB, Tyrod would be an upgrade over E.J. and Cassel.

As a former 5* QB

As a former Virginia Tech QB

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

Headline interpretation. Duh.

After reading the article. Duh.

Conclusion. Duuuuh.

It could be worse.

You "read" the article eh?

Edit: I'll see myself out, just saw the article after the video, but I'm keeping this here because I can't stop watching the GIF

The best thing about that gif is that it likely ends his ability to reproduce.

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

Stop, drop and... dance?

when I watch this gif I automatically here MC Hammer's "you can't touch this"..... oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh.....

I still can't even figure out what the heck this kid is attempting..

Onward and upward

Probably misunderstood his buddies talking about firecrotch.

Working his way up to this...

That is instantly one of my new favorite gifs

It was a catch

Oh hey Captain Obvious

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
β€œI served in the United States Navy"

After reading that, only one thing I can say:

Is "voistrous" even a word?

___

-What we do is, if we need that extra push, you know what we do? -Put it up to fully dipped? -Fully dipped. Exactly. It's dork magic.

That was my first thought. According to Mirriam-Webster, "voistrous" is not a word, or at least not in the dictionary.

"Nope, launch him into the sun and fart on him on the way up"
-gobble gobble chumps

"11-0, bro"
-Hunter Carpenter (probably)

My guess is the author meant boisterous and hit a 'v' instead of 'b' and then spell check didn't catch the mis-spelling

Why are people, especially ESPN, surprised that Tyrod is a good quarterback? I mean, the announcers have gushed all about him during every single preseason game he's played.

Physical Height >> Sports Skills

Pretty clear to me at least, that Rex is hoping that he can swoop in and take the job. I like his chances of starting opening day at this point.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

I think their chances of having a winning season are identical to TT's chance of starting.

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

sooooo you're saying they're going to the playoffs thanks to Tyrod's heroics?

"The Big Ten is always using excuses to cancel games with us. First Wisconsin. Then Wisconsin. After that, Wisconsin. The subsequent cancellation with Wisconsin comes to mind too. Now Penn State. What's next? Wisconsin?" -HorseOnATreadmill

Calling it right here - if he starts enough games.

Let's be honest. Tyrod was better than Flacco in every single preseason game they both played in. Flacco was only the starter because they gave him a silly contract.

That is so hilariously not true. Y'all are homering super hard today

Seriously, I've watched Tyrod play in the NFL, it was not pretty.

False, but I do love Tyrod and hope he gets his chance.

Flacco can thank that d for that trophy....

February..'96...the steak: ribeye, the whiskey:Lagavulin 16, the lady next to me: a bit**.....

ESPN Article:

"In the first half, Flacco was as brilliant as Tom Brady, Joe Montana or Terry Bradshaw ever were in the NFL's biggest game. The only quarterback to win a playoff game in each of his first five seasons -- his coach holds the same distinction -- was nearly perfect. Overall, Flacco threw for 11 touchdowns to tie a postseason record, and had no interceptions."

11 TDs and 0 interceptions in the playoffs. There is a reason he was MVP of the superbowl. This was not a Trent Dilfer Ravens team.

And he was mediocre for the regular season before the playoffs and has been mediocre since that run in the playoffs.

All that shows is that he started a hot streak at the exact right time. A very hot streak, yes, but you don't give guys the most expensive contract in the league based on a hot streak, you do it based on consistent and sustained play, something Flacco has yet to show in his career.

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

I agree 100%. I was pissed when we gave him the largest contract in the league (at the time). All I'm saying is the Trent Dilfer comparison is not accurate. That whole playoff run was Joe Flacco and the offense, not our D and protecting the football like usual.

"What are you going to do, stab me? - Quote from Man Stabbed

You're not addressing the point at all that he has the defense to thank for the trophy.

And FYI, Flacco was very consistent at the point of his contract.

The four previous years he was good for 60% completion, 3600 yards, 22 tds and 11 picks. That's stable franchise QB numbers. Not elite, but enough that you need to lock him down.

I think Ozzie Newsome knows what hes doing.

You didn't watch the playoffs that year did you?

Trent Dilfer got one, too... But the thing is, Baltimore wasn't dumb enough to sell the farm to keep him at QB back then. With Flacco.... Not so much.

How quickly people forget how close they were to benching and eventually cutting him. He got paid for about 6 games. Not smart

What? I live 20 minutes from Baltimore and this is news to me.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

I'll be honest, I was really bummed to watch Ravens preseason games because I thought Tyrod really didn't look that good and I thought he was capable of a lot more.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

Agreed, flashes of greatness, but nothing to give him a shot to start.
