Virginia Tech Among 2015 TE Jovani Haskins' Top Five

Jovani Haskins divulged his top 5 to NJ.com on Thursday (http://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/index.ssf/2015/07/bergenfield_tight_en...).

"I definitely narrowed it down to a few schools," said Haskins. "I've got Miami up there, Rutgers up there, West Virginia, Virginia Tech and I've got North Carolina."

"A prostyle offense, I like that," said Haskins, who prefers to play flex tight end in college. "I feel like it'll help me develop for my goals at the next level. But I feel I can adapt to any offense."

Haskins has a planned visit to Virginia Tech on July 25, and wants to decide before the season or September.

Jovani meet Bucky Hodges future 1st round TE in the NFL Draft

Jovani's got that Calvin Johnson type mold to him, long & runs like a gazelle

QB of the future.

Haskins showed just how versatile he can be, throwing for 1,090 yards and 12 TDs on 61-of-99 passing (62%) in nine games in 2014.

He has the experience.

Everything I've read about him says hes raw but a freak athletically. You better believe he's watching how Bucky does this year

6'5" and 234 lbs? Sounds like he should be keeping a VERY close eye on Bucky. And even beyond that, Malleck and Cline. Our utilization of TEs this year should really catch this guys eye. Oh yeah, and we have 2 pre-season Mackey Award watch list candidates. Thank you Stinespring for your success with our TEs.

Also of note:

But which school stands out at the moment?

"It's really hard, honestly," Haskins said. "I'm gonna be back at Virginia Tech on the 25th. They are having like this barbecue thing, where everyone is just gonna gather.

Haskins says Rutgers, West Virginia and Virginia Tech are the three schools he's in contact with most.

And based on this list we definitely have the advantage when it comes to BBQing. I don't know anyone likes the rubber tire flavor NJ and WV add from smoking their shoulders over a trash fire.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

Haskins is the guy I'm hoping the staff can close on at the TE position. He's got the make-up to be a perfect fit for Lefty's system.

Man I hope we get this guy.

On a side note, on average, whenever a recruit posts a top 5 list, how often do we get picked? It can't be often. It seems like we score better with the recruits that don't do that.

whenever a recruit posts a top 5 list, how often do we get picked?

I would say 20% of the time...

Eh, 43% of the time, statistics are made up on the spot.

He's no good to me dead.

They've done studies you know. 20% of the time they pick us, every time

They say it works 60% of the time... every time.

He's no good to me dead.

60% of the time it works every time.

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

Yeah...should have seen this coming.

I noticed he likes the #7...

Boy's got an arm.

And that #5 guy seems incredibly fast too.

Did you see his pictures? He's got two big arms!

womp womp wooooooomp. +1

247 says its between us and Rutgers, with the good guys holding a 60-40 advantage

yay CB season

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

He looks like a great fit.

I like what he's saying, and it seems that VT is right in there. Let's hope he has a good visit.
