The writer of this article has done his research and is spot on. Miami- dress like an empty seat , UVA - no one cares.
The Miami one and this got me.
Surprised to read they have discontinued Zima. I would have thought Charlottesville consumption alone would have kept the product afloat. Kinda sad, probably the result of so many fewer tailgates and victory parties in the fall up there. I suppose some John Grisham type of person could step forward and underwrite the return of Zima, though. But I digress...
I don't think the Zima was doing it anymore.
Fantastic article. It also makes the NC State/UNC dichotomy sound a lot like us and LOLUVA.
Thought the same thing. I don't know much about UNC's fans but was thinking that they had LOLUVA and UNC mixed up.
a friend of mine and adopted hokie went to NCSU and he said it's pretty much the same sort of relationship
Buddy of mine that's a UNC grad calls State the community college down the road. Their interactions are different than Duke-UNC. More like what UMD had for Duke. At least VT and loluva are separated by some distance. All three schools down there in the triangle are right up each others business.
Lived in Raleigh my whole life except for the years where I was at Tech.
Yes, the rivalry is the exact same. However, at least UVa recognizes us as their main rival. The fact UNC and Duke have as big a rivalry as they do annoys NCSU fans to no end, because they're always looked upon as the 2nd class citizens of the state. (and its kind of funny how the UNC-NCSU dynamic is exactly the same as the NCSU-ECU dynamic)
so what you're saying is that UNC and Duke are all like

With NCSU on the sideline screaming

and ECU is even further out of the picture looking all

Interestingly, back before we joined the ACC, my 'hoo? fan friends claimed that VT was not a major rival in any sport because their main focus was their conference. While they still gloated when they won and whined when they lost, they really didn't seem to return the feelings quite in kind. Since we joined the ACC, all such bullshit excuses evaporated, and now, the rivalry is totally acknowledged. This is just my experience with the folks I know, and there are more than a few, but to me, it just makes their current woeful status and our winning streak all the sweeter.
To REALLY fit in at Lane, you should probably wear camo, too. With the orange, we look like the largest, safest hunting party in history.
Which makes me wonder how many fans have managed to get into the stadium armed...
Hi welcome back
This was fantastic.
That was outstanding. Nice find.
Wow these were spot on. But I have a problem with this statement:
Clearly that isnt NEARLY enough times if you start tailgating at 7 am like you should be
And if your voice doesn't break up while yelling it, you're not doing it loud enough.
And if you can talk above a hoarse whisper after the game, you let the team down.
Seems like they're lowballing that number.
I laughed out loud.
All of them are spot on. Especially the Miami one.
He's not lying about the Busch Lite at Clemson. They don't sell Natty there. All they drink is Busch Lite. He should've mentioned to wear orange collared shirts or dresses or you'll get side-eyed looks and people will move away from you. Did I mention all they have at Clemson is Busch Lite?
My personal favorite was Wake Forest: "just hope that the game doesn't turn into a blood bath. If it gets bad, remember the 2006 ACC Championship season." But then again, they beat us 6-3 last season in double overtime...
But...But....Bud does have the boys turned around...and it might be our year.
I wish we could have had Bud Fosters as our drink of choice.
It's my dream that one day they will sell Fosters in O and M colors and I will no longer have to photoshop my avatar.
