2016 OLB Brock Miller Commits to NC State

2016 OLB Brock Miller committed to North Carolina State University over Virginia Tech. He shared some really insightful comments on why he chose the Wolf Pack: http://www.tcpalm.com/sports/high-school/football/exclusive-john-carroll....

Coach Dave Doeren, my new coach at N.C. State, told me that the ACC Atlantic Division had more NFL Draft picks (31) this year than any other conference division. It just shows it's the best opportunity for me to get to the next level — or maybe I should say the next, next level. After all, I do have one year of high school football left.

N.C. State was committed to me playing linebacker there and that was a big factor for me.

It was really down to them and Virginia Tech and Tech wanted me to play defensive end more than linebacker. It was a really tough decision between the two of them, but N.C. State wanting me to play linebacker helped me make my decision.

Another factor for me was N.C. State felt like home.

I lived in Charlotte from the time I was 3 to 8 and my sister was born in North Carolina. We still go up every summer because we have friends and family there and I love North Carolina. It's my favorite state and I always wanted to get back there.

We were on such a recruiting roll.

"Exit light..."

Glad that VT coaches were honest with him about where he would play.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

Damn, just as a DE spot opened up on the roster...

Don't be shocked to see this kid end up at DE at NC St...

Wait coaches lie to kids about where they will play on the field. I'm shocked!!

I mean, we've probably done this to a few kids here and there too... Well, maybe lie isn't a good word, but I can remember times where kids were not put in the positions they wanted to play.

Go Hokies

Didn't we kind of do that with Logan?

I mean I know he eventually signed off on it, but I thought he didn't want to move originally and we had to convince him to do it.

Yeah. But I don't think his arm had to be twisted that hard.

North Carolina is pretty freaking awesome.

Can't argue that.

Leonard. Duh.

agree. Just enough south to avoid harsh winter, just north enough to avoid harsh heat and humidity. Charlotte folks can be a bit snobby but the coast is amazing.

"How you doin', Randy?"

avoid harsh heat and humidity

ummmm....excuse me??? I lived there for 10years. No way do you avoid harsh heat and humidity in that state. Maybe out west but not in the piedmont that's for sure.

No it's humid everywhere. And today is particularly bad.

Leonard. Duh.

One more reason to dominate NC State in the regular season. Best of luck to Brock! Hokies D will be fine.

Whelp, thar goes another one. I'm just so thankful, SO THANKFUL, this month is almost over.

Well at VT he would be playing in Charlotte more often...as in ACC championship games.

you should have left the ... out and let the legs come to you for cleverness.

"How you doin', Randy?"

Plus we play in Greenville every other year FOREVER

prolly didn't have a 40" vertical anyway. s/

Dammit, though. I had a great feeling about that guy.
Best of luck, Brock.

My feelings regarding this "recruiting" season

We landed 2 WRs at 6'3" with great speed. Whether I am right or wrong, I really don't care what else happens this class. Win. We are diversifying the types of high quality guys we land and if this team ever wants to truly compete for the title again, that's the most important thing. No team gets everyone they want.

"How you doin', Randy?"

most important thing this class is OT and DEs. Happy with those two so far?

I don't think brock would have been an early contributor at DE for us by any means either.

Most important thing is WRs...particularly tall and/or fast. And it's not even close. Tech didn't get any receivers in the '15 class, but got 3 OTs and 2DEs.

After that is OL (and possibly OGs more than OTs). Then DEs & LB.

Several of the recruits in last year's class have been mentioned as possible WRs plus we are very young at that position as it is. Most of the OTs you are claiming are better suited as OGs but are at OT because we are so thin there. As for the DEs gaines and hill are the only ones from last year's class that I think stick at that position, we just lost keihn and mihota is still going to be a DT eventually.

With all due respect to Brock, this isn't a massive loss for VT by any means. Don't see how this recruiting season has been so bad either. Certainly hasn't been great, but it is starting to pick up. Plus, it's a long time until February.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

We've gotten a lot of DE commits, and many are gonna redshirt. It would have been nice to get him, but I think Trevon HIll would have beaten him when he's fully healthy.

Favorite play that never was - "Hooker with the dime to Pimp...leton."

So Doeren pitched the fact that players on other teams in their division get drafted and it actually worked? How many of those draft picks were from NC St?

"11-0, bro"
-Hunter Carpenter (probably)

According to ESPN, NCSU has 22 players currently in the NFL
VT has 24.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

I just cannot get over that as an actual recruiting pitch.

Not going to lie, I thought we thought we had this one in the bag.

to be completely honest... and it's always speculation... but just based off seeing what kind of athlete he is on his current film from HS... I doubt he would've ever really turned into a legend at VT... never really saw him as more than a special teams guy.... just didn't have the acceleration to beat a D-1 OT off the snap... this isn't going to kill us... if Melvin couldn't get on the field this guy can't either.

I was nine years old the last time those bow tie wearing sissies beat the good guys.

Sounds like he made a conscientious decision. Good for him, best of luck at NC State.

He'll need it.
