College GameDay Headed to Bama/Wisconsin Week 1

We're headed to Fort Worth for Wisconsin-Alabama on Week 1! https://t.co/IEvwbhalvq— College GameDay (@CollegeGameDay) August 3, 2015 " target="_blank">

Not surprising because of ESPN's love affair with Alabama but can't argue too much. Would have loved to see them in Blacksburg on Labor Day.

Their loss.

Edit: Looks like they're smarter than I gave them credit for.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

The SEC brand has taken a hit recently... the mothership needed to swoop in and help ease the tensions.

since 2011 Gameday has been to Jerry World 3 and now 4 times in the past 5 years on week 1.

I'm guessing now would be an appropriate time to mention how ESPN has this massive financial deal with both the NFL and SEC, so going there helps to pimp out both of their deals.

i would say so.. Jerry World will be a sell out and they will get to hype the SEC even more..

since 2008 bama's only OOC away game was played at duke in 2010

Atlanta has the same type game though. SEC vs somebody at the Falcons stadium.

We play on Monday. I doubt they even considered to come to Blacksburg on Saturday.

^^ This is what I've been thinking all along. I don't know why there was any anticipation that they might come to Blacksburg.

If the game was scheduled for Saturday, then I would fully expect them to be there.

Also, am I the only one expecting they will be doing a remote from Blacksburg throughout the day on Monday, counting down to the game, even if it isn't technically Game Day?

You expected correctly, good sir!

I really think a Monday game versus a Saturday game had more to deal with the location of gameday than anything else.

Yeah, Gameday didn't even come to Boise in 2010 because it was played on Monday.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

It was also at FedEx Field, which didn't even let you into the lots before something like 1pm on the day of the game....

There is no justification for VT ever playing there again.

If the game had been scheduled for Saturday, they'd have had a good chance at GameDay.

So I guess we'll have to settle for a nationally-televised game against the number-1 ranked national champions in prime time when there are no other games (that I'm aware of).

It doesn't suck.

EDIT: I guess settle for all of the above PLUS the GameDay crew showing up to do some commentary!

We would have ran away with it if the game was on Saturday. No one else would have even been seriously considered. Defending champs vs. only team they lost to last year, preseason #1, Blacksburg, biggest football game in Lane history. No contest.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

I am sure Blacksburg will get more than enough coverage by ESPN on that Monday. Unless Lebron breaks a nail or Brady gets a hair cut.

I mean why wouldn't they?

So we are getting GameDay.... monday's version of it

Nice

Considering its a holiday, would not be surprised to see the crew come out to Blacksburg and set up shop for the day.

What a great way to recap the first week of action and highlights, then by sitting with Lane and tons of screaming Hokies inthe background for an entire day leading up to primetime.

the football team's twitter account just confirmed that College GameDay will be on campus on Labor Day, showing the usual hosts.

I like it.

Official sign idea thread when?

HONEYDEW IS GARBAGE FRUIT!

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

This, this, a thousand times this

This is awesome. Wonder if they will do a full setup or if will just have the guys doing a live show from around Lane before kickoff. I know Monday is Labor day, but I wonder if they will do 12 hours of college football talk; but then again they just might.

The Dude Abides

Probably an hour or two before the game would be enough, amirite?

Psssh...

They'll be the lead in on the Drillfield to the Metallica Concert.... GameDay at 9-noon, concert from noon-2... tailgating from 2-7... game at 8

What we really need is OSU homeboy Herbstreit talking up Ohio State.

Please, PLEASE, let VT win this one.

Did I say PLEASE?
