Someone who well versed in these things, please help me out. What does that mean for his eligibility moving forward? Would he be eligible to come back to VT after some period? If yes, how many years of eligibility would he have left?
My understanding is that he is permanently expelled from VT. There is no coming back to VT unless he wins some kind of civil injunction in court.
(Except maybe grad school? But I kinda doubt that is allowed either)
Next stop, SEC
That JUCO is 20 minutes from Miss State and 1 hr from Ole Miss.
Linked all the football players that have gone there.
Football Players at Next Level
Yes he could re-apply (doubt it)
He will have 3 years of D1 eligibility left.
After a year at JUCO he will have 3 years to play 2 at an NCAA school.
Once your eligibility clock starts, it counts down regardless of where you are enrolled.
I stand corrected.
CJ Reavis coming to an SEC team near you.
Sounds like those rumors about MK ruining his career at VT were true
Can this offseason end already? Things happen every year, just seems this offseason has been particularly filled with drama.
I like when we are boring and no drama.
I went to school with that columnist, Eric Kolenich. He started at Tech and then transferred to UVA after his first year. What exactly has to be wrong in your brain to make that choice?
Eric is an old friend of mine. The English program is better there. The VT English department let me skip first semester with a 42% on my SAT 2 Writing (that's pretty sad).... I'll even admit UVA was an educational step up in that department
in all other respects...UVA sucks
I was the 4th kid in my family to start at tech. My oldest sister transferred to LOLUVa once she figured out she wanted to double major in drama and English. This was back in the early 90s. Can't really fault her for that. No idea how we stack up in those departments now, but back then it was pretty weak. Funny story: this came up when talking to the crazy cat lady at work my first week. Only to find out that she got those degrees from Tech in the early 90s...awkward.
So yeah, LOLUVa can have their dominance in drama and English, but to those people who go there for engineering or to play football, I shake my head at you in disapproval.
The theatre department is very strong, though it's been stronger in years past. It isn't the best in the country or anything, but neither is UVA's. The English department... has nice people...
Both my sisters went to UVA (commerce and cognitive sciences). I cannot for the life of me understand why someone goes to UVA for Engineering. They used to have this incredibly arrogant (and completely false) saying: "VT produces engineers, and UVA produces Engineering Managers".
reminds me of a bumper sticker worthy quote back when VMI was forced to start accepting women
"Women at VMI? What's next, men at UVA?"
Wow even through all this drama still sounds like a gentleman which only drives me crazy on wat actually happened... Seen players do some crazy stuff but still get second, third chances.
Team rules though, not school rules. They cant bend as much.
If he had raped or beat up a girl we would've known. If he had gotten some drunk in public charge or an illegal possession of a fake ID charge we would be able to see it online. If he had cheated it would've been in honor court last semester (spring '15). Honestly, what he did couldn't possibly have been that bad and I'm pretty pissed that some kid who just transferred to Maryland ratted CJ out about something that's probably minor. Hey maybe my head isn't in the right place but I can't be the ONLY one thinking this.
I still don't know the whole story. What I do know is that he was a damn good football player and a fan favorite....and a damn good dancer. I also know that he was booted out by VT students - the same as you and I. They may be the annoying over achiever types...but still students like you and I were. I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt that they are not total idiots and followed the rules. It sucks he got expelled but once again - it was by fellow students of the best university in the world. Maybe I am too glass half full but I think those VT students on the court are good people who want the best for their university. Maybe the process needs to change but I can't assume their was foul play involved. In my opinion...
Now Keihn....he needs to go and I never need to hear his name again....I am sure he is a fine person but to MD? Ughhh ....that is as bad as going to uva in my book.....
Turk's mention of the Commonwealth's Attorney leads me to believe that there was a serious issue, just no proof that would rise to the level of legal action. Sounds like some smoke, but no visible fire, but I would be surprised if there were no valid reasons for concern over his alleged actions (whatever they may be). Like many others, I do question the hammer that the Student Council wields, though. Seems like a lot of power for that type of body to have over other students.
As for Keihn, maybe he was doing what he truly felt was right, we may never know. As for MD being "as bad as going to uva in my book", well, I would suggest you read the fine print or borrow my book. NOTHING is as bad as going to uva.
I took Turk's comments about the CA to mean that there was laughable evidence of any wrongdoing. As in the Student Conduct Council was operating on hearsay and opinion, not facts that would stand up in a court of law.
That's sorta what I meant. I'm just trying to think this thing through and figure out what happened like everybody else, but with the meager facts and the fair amount of speculation by folks who don't know any more about it than the rest of us, it's just hard. I'm a CJ fan and wish the best for him, and I do feel like he may have gotten a bad break here. The SCC set up seems wrong, and how are we to know, they may very well have operated on hearsay and opinion. But we just don't know, do we? It is very frustrating for a fan.
