Bust a nut
That exchange was probably the most RTs and favorites I've ever gotten on Twitter.
Have a couple more.
Can't reply to you guitar, are you the guy who photoshopped the lunch boxes?
Yep, that's me!
Legs for life. Now you need to photoshop my picture of a VT nutcracker with a countdown clock I have by placing a buckeye nut in the nutcrackers mouth.
You mean like this?
Thanks guitar my photoshop skills are subpar.
Legs for life!
This reminds me of a girl I once knew. Terribly rough young lady.
So glad to see the schools can have some fun with each other. This seems to be one of the more fun matchups that we've had with a big time team, perhaps it's because we won last year. On the other hand if you read the comments below on that site you will see the dregs of OSU fans. Most of the Hokie fans that commented seem to be pretty reasonable but all the OSU fans on it are just delusional. Glad we have some reasonable OSU fans on this site. They have been a pleasure to have and talk football with.
I completely agree. As far as the delusion goes, I eat it up. The only reason anOSU fans even care about this game is because we took them down in their house by 14. The fans screaming that the final score will be 50-3 are mostly doing it out of hope for revenge and anger than actually having any sense of what is going on.
I saw the "halftime: 56-3" in favor of tOSU prediction and laughed. I agree that that's just some butt hurt from last year. that's just fan talk, I see that stuff on all kinds of boards. Fans being fans.
That's actually the exact comment I was thinking of when I made my statement. And I agree, its just fan talk. I just dont understand what makes one seriously believe that will be the score at halftime. Someone on one of these threads said it already, but thats a surefire way to watch a football game your team could be winning and still be pissed off
See: every single game in which VT is playing a weak FBS or FCS team.
I would post a gif of Jim Carey retching, but Im pretty sure I already did that in this thread...
I had to go look myself. All is a stretch....I mentioned before, the lopsided score predictions are fans being fans. you get that stuff from all fans in every sport.
I have seen this "Delusional" Buckeye fan accusation a lot on TKP. I will say this, when you are the 1st ever CFP champions and won games in hostile environments on the path to doing it... Fans have a right to be delusional. As long as the players aren't, is what matters.
FYI - VT wins because...Enter Sandman...because, Lane...because, Foster...All sounds delusional to tOSU fans.
We dont need your completely reasonable and well thought out argument here! YOU JUST KEEP BEING DELUSIONAL IN YOUR anOSU CORNER!! /s
I can definitely see your point. What grinds our gears (brace yourself because you've heard this 1000 times by now) is even after defeating OSU last season VT seems to STILL be completely written off for this game and as a fanbase we feel slighted. FWIW I dont think we win BECAUSE of enter sandman, but it definitely does something to the atmosphere of Lane
hey, that was our world for about, the whole season last year (no thanks to VT ;) )....I guess we are used to it...I do really hate all the praise tOSU is getting....I seem to remember a certaim Miami team that could beat NFL teams ...oh, about 13 years ago...hmmm
FWIW - the Cleveland Browns also used "Enter Sandman" to start games...then reality set it :(
That doesn't mean anything more than the fact that the suck is so strong in Cleveland that not even Metallica can help.
That was a joke, friend....my goodness.
Also, you are correct...Metallica cannot help the Clowns.
lol I know it was a joke, and I was returning it in kind.
I think if you look again, most of the posts over here start with something like OSU WILL PROBABLY WIN, BUT...IF we do, those things help.
I seriously haven't seen very many "VT wins because..." over here, without the "IF" in front. While we know we CAN beat the Buckeyes, we also know what happened the second half of last season and the playoff. I have seen a lot of 10-2, 11-1 predictions for *after* we [redacted] to the Buckeyes.
Mentioning Lane Stadium and Bud's defense as factors in a possible win is no more delusional than "the atmosphere of the 'Shoe at night...we've haven't lost a home opener in...Urban's never lost a regular season game...etc."
I think the off-season has given everyone lots of extra time to work themselves up into a tizzy. I've also seen far more cross-pollination between fan sites than ever before. It has given us some interesting conversations and fascinating insights, but has also meant both sides have more exposure to the more fanatical fans of the other side.
The rhetoric has definitely ramped up as the clock has ticked down. Not sure if it's the regulars getting more excited or the crazies coming out of the woodwork (probably a bit of both).
the fact that the first game is a big game would probably increase the crazies. We need more VT fans over at 11W.
I have to say I really like TKP. nice fans and I get replies more so than, well 11W

I applied for a membership about a week ago now and never heard back. They could be either backed up or not taking applications from Hokies right now.
On an aside, I had to answer trivia questions to submit my application. I hope Wikipedia is accurate...
I had to do something similar for TKP and wiki was accurate.
possibly backed up...it took them a day or so when I applied. As long as your handle isn't objectionable you should get on. for instance "TheVoiceOfReason" would not be tolerated. Very similar rules to TKP.
Wait... so we beat you by 14 in your own house, and yet you want to imply that even thinking that we can beat you in our house when your best defender (who is a rare Heisman candidate on defense) and what, 3 of your top 4 receivers from last year are out is delusional?
The fuck?
Your edit wasn't need to make his implication irrational, but it's a nice cherry on top of your post for those who still think it can't be done. It already has...and with those guys.
Alum,
I'm going to need you to tone down that entitled attitude of yours
I don't think I have implied it can't be done (tOSU loosing). The fact that our best defensive player and 3 of our best offensive players are out is a very rational augment. All the because, "lane at night", Bud Foster" "Enter Sandman" are not...As NavyEMC pointed out, tOSU fans said similar last year.
I would say last year Bud had a lot to do with the win. Am I missing something? That sounds rational to me.
i'll give you Bud Foster...i'll take Urban
Bud 1 - Urban 0
I think its more like Bub 1 - Tom Herman 0
Frank 1 - Urban 0...but Urban 3 NC and Frank 0
but but we are transitive national champs... duhh
on a non "homer" mindset how many OSU fans will arrive to the VT game?
IMO i would say anywhere between 5-8k, that sound about right?
from the comments here on TKP, it sounds like tickets would be hard to come by. I don't know what the allotment for visiting teams is, so that is very hard to tell.
What I can tell you, is tOSU fans are one of, if not the best traveling fans in CFB. So, it wouldn't surprise me if many more than 8k were in attendance. then again, the VT fans may hold onto their tickets and then it would be significantly less.
were you at the game last year? I'm just curious about your take of it if you were. I had multiple OSU fans tell me that they had never seen as many fans for an opposing team show up to a game at the Shoe. One fan said we were the loudest travelling fans he could remember in his 40+ years of attending games at OSU and I heard another fan say that we brought more fans than teams like Michigan (for the record, the second fan-ecdote was from a younger fan and Michigan hasn't been very good lately). Does any of that sound accurate?
In my experience, the most fans I've ever seen in Lane from an opposing team came from Clemson. I fully expect to see more OSU fans in Blacksburg than any other opponent I've seen to date. Lane is quite a bit smaller than the Shoe and I'm not sure what the allotment is for visiting fans and I expect that to impact how many OSU fans will be in attendance. My guess would be right around 6-7K (which is about 10% and that's a pretty good showing for an opposing team IMO)
I was really impressed with the Nebraska fans that showed up when they came down to Lane to watch "The Comeback"! They were polite and were even willing to play football with the cadets before the game on the drill field. After that interaction, kind of felt bad how they lost but that only happened for like half a millisecond.
I was not at the game. I usually don't get a chance to go... $$$ **sigh**
Anyway, what I can tell you is, if given the chance, tOSU fans will take over....this is from '09 and scum was not very good. but still...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=he1O_Wgdlgk
Using stadiums that seat over 90'000 saying there were X number of fans is easy. Lane seats fewer and season ticket sales are almost done. AnOSU has lots of fans but there are only so many seats.
Easy to more than half fill "the Out House" as scUM fans suck as bad as their team does. I'm not saying this will be true of Lane...at all.
I'll take Bud Foster, for the win.
I think both teams will be better than they were in last year's game.
Personally, I think there is a little validity to the Lane at night thing, only because tOSU legitimately doesn't know what its walking into (nor do we, really... its been 10 years since we've had a game as big as this in Lane). Thing is, when we're amped up for a game, we've routinely ruined seasons and the atmosphere in Lane has played a big part of it.
But yes, the biggest reason I think we have a chance right now is that our defense is strong, and our secondary in on the short list for best in the country. Missing those receivers HURTS you because it allows us to start to sell out to stop the run, and then allow our secondary to use their experienced talent to beat your inexperienced talent when you try to pass. This is a bigger story than people are making it right now. Ohio St was already going to have a tough go against this defense, and now that this has happened, it has to tilt that side of the game a little in our favor. Where the biggest mismatch was going to be was the Ohio St defense vs our offense. Biggest mystery is Michael Brewer, and whether or not what we saw in the Shoe is the real Brewer (and whether you all screwed him up for the rest of the year by getting him hurt) or if he just had an unusually hot game last year. But Bosa being out hurts you badly. If you go back and watch the game last year, the only reason he wasn't involved in more plays was that we tended to go to the side of the field he wasn't on. He literally single handedly shut down one entire side of the field against us. Now, that advantage for you is gone. And all those guys who produced last year (except our RBs, but we should be ok there if Edmunds and Coleman are going at 100%) are back with a year of experience under their belts.
I dunno, this is shaping up to be a very good game, and I don't really see a blowout in either way. The Lane atmosphere will play a significant part in this matchup, but it remains to be seen if it plays the deciding factor. But to think that it won't effect play.... Yeah, keep thinking that. We've seen teams with more talent (2001 and 2003 Miami) struggle in this place because of the crowd. Its not unprecedented.
How many false starts and delay of game penalties did Miami have in '03 because of the noise? I remember the atmosphere had them rattled, and we came out hot and jumped on them early. Not only is this OSU's first time in Lane, but if I'm not mistaken, first time ever playing in the state of VA. Yeah, I really don't think they know what is coming as far as the atmosphere is concerned.
I think a lot is going to depend on who takes control of the game early on.
If VT is still in this game in the third quarter, crowd noise will definitely be a factor.
A lot. That game was especially impressive because they came in with arguably the best team in the country, and our defense embarrassed them. You look at how that game played out, and until Vick hit Wilford late, we really didn't do anything offensively, but our defense just smothered them. Berlin especially became completely unglued because of the crowd and had quite an epic meltdown. Really became a deer in headlights kind of game for them.
That said, that loss more than anything had that Miami team focused coming into 2005. They knew exactly what they were in for, and knew what they had to do to take the crowd out of the game early. But it really took the experience from 2001 and 2003 to get them there.
Oh yeah, Brock Berlin. I still remember that shot of him just lying face down on the ground in frustration after one of his big interceptions. He absolutely fell apart over the course of that game. I'm hoping we can do much of the same defensively against OSU - come out and jump on them early, force a turnover, and set up our offense with great field position. I feel like whichever team can come out hot and force a turnover or two will end up winning this game. Both offenses are going to have to protect the ball.
That Miami '05 game still burns me. That was an epic matchup, and I honestly think the moment was just too big for a very immature Marcus Vick. I remember him just crumbling under the pressure. Miami came in very prepared for that environment and got us back that night.
Ohio State is very familiar with the Miami team from that time period.
2 Things. The atmosphere will be great and fun, and I'm really looking forward to it. But this is Ohio State not Marshall
From last year, 108,000 people pack Penn State for the Annual rivalry game and 76,000 people pack Michigan St for the rivalry game, including the College Gameday crew all week of hype
And Most recent huped game,
Miami 30, VT 6
Beamer Co. and the entire athletic department asked Hokie Nation to show up Thursday, and you did.
The crowd was there, and both teams were equal and either team could win or lose. Return of sold out Lane stadium and Thursday Night Football.
3-5 against Power 5 teams at home since 2012
I'm counting on this year's Virginia Tech team to show up better than last year's Virginia Tech team.
Yea this year should be better than last year, but the Miami game was really supposed to be just that. But also I don't think Lane will be a big issue for OSU
Miami ran the same 3 running plays and we couldn't stop any of them. VT also fumbled 3 times inside the 10.. Back to back possessions as well. 1 of them was from a RB that hadn't carried the ball all year/left team only to come back and get carries ahead of JC and Sam
Even with our top two backs out, we still essentially have two returning starters back. If there is one position to have two guys down and still be okay...
If Trey is running strong, we're set at RB for the game. My only worry has been that JCC is undersized, but he proved last year that he's tough as nails to tackle, and if we can get him and Trey into a flow early, they have all the makings to have a little Imoh-Humes combo in them, and that did us pretty well, even against a USC that ended up winning it all.
I think McMillian will turn some heads and have an impact vs OSU. The guy has a ton of speed, and could be used as a traditional running back or receiving threat. I'm sure we will get him on the field in some fashion. Trey and JC will be the main guys, but Travon will be in the mix. I could see him working into a Reggie Bush-esque role on offense and special teams.
Question... why are we not talking about OSU's running game? That was the critical factor in their last two wins last year? Haven't seen it brought up... because if our D-Line misses him on one play they can be lights out.
Because the QB discussion and how our defense got lucky by catching them at the wrong time is so much more fun to talk about. I'd say /s but we all know it's true. But yes, that will be the big thing: can our DL get as much penetration and blow up plays in the backfield as they did last year - or more, can our new safeties tackle in space, and can we keep Elliott from taking a 3 yard gain and making it into a 70 yard house call?
If the answer is "yes" to all 3 questions, we win.
Well thats the thing... Their suspensions mean we can focus more on their running game than we normally would have. They will be coming into this game as an unbalanced offense, needing to run to beat us, because their suspensions put our strength at a favorable position against their relative weakness. Allowing us to focus on stopping the run will really help out over the course of the game, and should help us slow down what would have been their bread and butter going into it.
well I hope you're right. Zeke is a beast and I'm scared to death of him...I would not be surprised at all if he puts up 100+ yards and a couple of scores. I just hope that our offense can keep up. I know we're going to have a good defense this year but with two new starters in the FS and Rover positions I'm nervous that we're going to struggle early in the year. I think if VT wants to win this game the offense is going to have to be productive. This game could get up into the 60s and 70s combined score. If our offense is even half as competent as we're all hoping for it to be we may have a chance but we'll have to score at least 5 touchdowns to win this game.
The defense is usually ahead of the offense in the beginning of the year so I'm thinking the score will be low (combined 30 to 40). The winner will be the team with the most points!! LOL! I'm hoping it's the good guy's win again but I can handle a loss if we play solid football.
The hype train is killing me. I'm ready for some football!!
Miami 2014...also I'd argue that our great record at home the last decade is more to do with having a great team.
While I must question the wisdom of mocking the pail, that was a pretty funny response from OSU. I like seeing the athletic departments getting into a bit of good-natured fun with each other. It makes the lead up to the big game more entertaining.
Listen, you guys are already behind on the suspension scoreboard: 4-2. You need to step it up. :)
That's one battle we don't really mind if you win.
Ok. I'll go ahead and suspend Melvin Keihn and Holland Fisher.
Might as well throw Drew Harris on there as well.
Boom, now we're leading
Get on our level, Buckeys.
Your move, Meyer.
ESPN says we won the Twitter battle.
http://espn.go.com/blog/acc/post/_/id/84079/hokies-brutus-the-buckeye-ha...
and now that Justin guy has become ESPN famous.
Not sure if sarcastic, or you don't realize "that Justin guy" is VTGuitarMan...
He knows. He just forgot the /s there :)
I'm just hoping that Justin guy doesn't become a sellout now that he's on ESPN...
Well I'll have to look at his Twitter feed and see how many SEC, OSU, ND, Harbourgh stories there are.
.
Sorry, couldn't help it
I prefer stealth sarcasm.
