This is an event that is highly anticipated by a few of us in this community. Last year we met several Hokies and I am just wondering if anybody here will be there? We make a whole weekend out of it, tow an RV down there and just camp out in the infield. Aside from enjoying many fine automobiles going fast, it gives us a chance to get ready for the football season fast approaching.
If you are going to be there let us know here! We love being Hokie Strong wherever we are!

Isn't the United SportsCar Championship the series that absorbed the American Le Mans Series and something else I can't recall?
That's correct. For the 2014 season the American Le Mans series and the Rolex Grand Am Series combined to form the Tudor United SportsCar Championship.

Oh man, watching Klaus Graf and the Muscle Milk car turn 1:35s on the full course in 2012. That was ridiculous stuff.

Can't make it but for anyone on the fence about it, VIR is a spectacular racing facility. I grew up not far from it and race there in the SCCA frequently. Do yourself a favor and get a breakfast biscuit from the snack bar between turns 3 and 4. You can also enjoy a bologna burger, not quite as epic as those purchased at South Boston Speedway but worth a go if you've never had one.
This is a racing event unlike any other. I love all motorsports, but the difference between this and something like NASCAR is the level of interaction and freedom you are given. The paddock and pits are open and you are free to walk around and up to the different teams trailers and garages. They have no problem with you asking questions, taking pictures, or just striking up a conversation. And there are exotic sports cars just EVERYWHERE.

Sebring down in Florida is also open for people to walk around the pits. There is also a lot of history at that track as well.
Fried Bologna Sandwich at the South Boston Speedway is untouchable! Wife's family is from Clover, VA just outside of SoBo and we usually get to a race once a year.

This is ridiculous, yea we live in West Ashley, not far from the Publix on Main Road. We are pretty much a Brewer deep pass from Johns Island.
Also, my Dad and Stepmom live in Clover, VA. My wife's family is from Crystal Hill, VA. Ever visited Hunting Creek Vineyards in Clover?

Tomorrow they are doing a VT/NASCAR media day after practice, no doubt in building for the Battle at Bristol.

Hopefully once the series returns in a few weeks to Richmond, Martinsville, and Bristol we could get some more opportunities, Denny Hamlin (last full time driver from Virginia) is a fan and his former Crew Chief Darian Grubb(now with teammate Carl Edwards) is a Hokie.
I want to say there is a video floating around of the last time Denny came to practice back in 2010.
I wonder if they will have a VT and Tenn car at the night race at Bristol next August.
TAMU, Texas Tech, and FSU have all had cars in the past year so hopefully!
