Not sure beating Brandon Facyson with inside leverage on a quick slant is as easy as burning some fat guy at half speed. If BM can do that, more power to him.
Even more NUTHUGGING
anOSU QB warmups
That is an ugly indoor field.
Crazy Train playing in the background...
According to Cory Marshall, it is now referred to as "nutmegging"
Running a route at half speed covered by an ESPN reporter making you look good is not the same as being game ready. AnOSU fans are going to go nuts over this thinking he is the next Calvin Johnson or Percy Harvin.
I certainly don't speak for all Buckeye fans but the feeling I get is there's a sense of cautious optimism about Braxton's move to receiver. He's an incredible athlete but I'd be willing to bet there will be a lot of growing pains or rookie mistakes in the new position. If I had to guess I'd bet that most of the time he'll be running the short to intermediate routes or getting the ball from touch passes. One thing's for sure, once he gets the ball he's fun to watch.
Indeed, once he gets the ball the defense is at a big disadvantage, at which point they can only hope to minimize his yardage (hard to do). The key for our defense, or any defense, against Miller is to disrupt his route and/or keep him blanketed in coverage. He's lethal once he's out in space.
He's definitely a serious threat with the ball in his hands and capable of breaking a big play. In some ways I wonder if early on he is used more to force D's to account for him and potentially open up someone else. He definitely needs time to develop although his experience at QB and athletic skills bode well for him.
That's a definite possibility just like they did with Dontre Wilson his Freshman season. Obviously Braxton knows the offense so it won't be exactly the same but I wouldn't be surprised if he were used as a decoy on occasion.
Earhole him and see what happens.........
I feel confident I could do this as well...
I hope he keeps up that intensity through the whole month.
I hope Braxton is ready to take a hit from Deon Clarke after catching a pass out of the backfield
I hate to say it but you got it wrong. I fixed it for you.
"I hope Braxton is ready to take a hit from Deon Clarke after ALMOST catching a pass out of the backfield"
I hate to say it but you got it wrong. I fixed it for you.
"I hope Braxton is ready to take a hit from Deon Clarke after FACYSON INTERCEPTS THE PASS"
I think you meant
"I hope Braxton doesn't get hurt from the crack back block from Clarke while trying to chase down Facyson en route to a pick six"
Should we just throw in a "to seal the game" to the end of that?
How about "to add insult to injury"
I think I'd prefer "to make it 38-0, bro"
after he got the free release i stopped watching..
How dare you think that lowly VT players will be allowed to touch Saint Miller.
Bud Foster parks in Urban Meyer's parking spot!
Meyer could try blocking him in, but Bud wouldn't notice, as he puts in some pretty long hours himself.
If Bud Foster is late, time better slow the f*ck down
Very dramatic.
A better view of it. starts at 1:31 ish..
I can say if braxton takes those 4-5 stutter steps Kendall or Facyson will jam him on his ass.. definitely will have to clean that up if he's going to get off the line in time to make a difference in their passing game
What a puff piece. He has to go up against our defense for his first game at WR. I predict nightmares...
i predict 3 TDs and over 250 all purpose yards/S
Hat trick: one rushing, one throwing and one receiving.
You're talking about yards, right?
Yeah, for our secondary.
Stroman with 150 yards and a TD on PR.
Fuller with a 75 yard pick 6.
Facyson with a 25 yard pick 6.
Boom!!!
Unfortunately for Braxton, VT will not bring the DB's Braxton is looking for. Joey Galloway is no comparison to DBU.
Some great lines from Braxton:
I will "play a hybrid-type deal . . . and then when my arm's good enough in the middle season, I can start playing quarterback" and "You see this arm still, I still got it." - Braxton still wants to be a QB. It will be interesting to see how his season develops and how seriously he takes learning the WR position.
In response to Galloway saying he's been learning the WR position for the past 1 or 2 months:

"I've been doing this for the past 3-and-a-half months"
From my perspective, he's not taking the move to WR seriously. I don't think he'll be successful beyond the line of scrimmage. The only success he'll have is when Meyer gets the ball in his hands behind the line of scrimmage or broken coverage.
They almost lost Miller to another season ending injury @ 2:40.
No doubt the guy has a quick step, and is a tremendous athlete. I'm sure he's learning and working, they are probably hoping to get him in a mismatch. But I don't think Chuck Clark is the mismatch you are hoping for.
My only concern from Braxton Miller is being covered by Riley, or a fresan. Anyone with actual knowledge feel free to correct me, I would love to feel more comfy.
I don't think he'd have much success lining up outside against Facyson or Fuller, but at H-Back (replacing Wilson/Marshall) he could potentially get matched up against our Rover, whoever that ends up being. So that's a bit of a concern simply because of his athleticism amplifies any mistakes by our new starter.
Solution: Put RVD on him.
Better solution: RVD breaks him on the first play.
Goddammit Guitarman. You and your gif win this time.
Well, you certainly teed it up nicely for me. It's pretty well established in my job description:
1. Keep @ssholes on topic
2. Nuke trolls
3. Post GIFs, memes, and jokes about opponents
4. Occasionally comment about something meaningful or moderately insightful
I see #4 isn't going so well...
I aint scerred.
Yea, they're going to commit him and use him.
The kid has wheels, and I wouldn't underestimate him.
Joe or someone else not on mobile there is a video of Miller fielding punts( he looks awful at it) and doing receiver drills, he drops an easy pass, on Twitter if someone wants to post.

Definitely looks new to the position. He might have athleticism and speed but if he can't catch it's all useless.
That first ball that's thrown his way with any defender closing in will be a mental mind blow for him.
Less than one month till game day they are going to put him in screen pass packages, he won't be running any deep routes unless it is a trick play and just to get both sides hearts beating faster. just sayin
That commentary was insufferable and unnecessary... but the disappointment when he dropped that easy pass made it worth the time.
Braxton does not look good. Not quick out the breaks, not running full speed down field, not getting the ball at the highest point, cannot catch the ball with his hands up.
If he can't catch the ball with his hands up and out, he won't be able to be used on screens either. Maybe he can improve in one month, but I'm from the two videos I've seen, he'll be relegated to hand-offs.
You know it was his first official day at the position, right?
Yet Buckeye nation thinks he will be a stud in 28 days?
Sure, there are some that have high expectations for Braxton at the position but from my experience most have very tempered expectations based on him being new to the position. I could point out a few homers on here too. Regardless, have a turkey leg on me.
He's been working as a wide receiver for 3.5 months, on the down low.
With no coaching input, no pads and not 100 percent healthy.
As a lifelong Buckeye fan I'm just going to trust you have a secret inside source that I'm not privy to. Have a turkey leg for the good Intel.
Watch the ESPN thing with Joey Galloway. It's above for reference and on 11warriors. MIller says it himself. But, I know he was just running routes and playing catch, not really playing the position. I know it's a work in progress, but he's not a natural at the position, that's for sure.
If he's having problems catching the ball without shoulder pads on and not in coverage, well, it's only going to get harder.
I couldn't agree with you more. I guess time will tell.
On which part? Summer workouts can't involve coaches and if he can't throw the ball he isn't 100 percent healthy.
Best parts:
1. Joey Galloway bringing some A game smack to Danny Kannell. Pretty funny.
2. ESPN anchorbabe in the white sweater dress? Google search candidate.
That only gets a leg from me if you produce the name of the ESPN anchorbabe.
Carri Champion
Pics of hotties get turkey legs every time.
Well worth a turkey leg. Good research.
At the same time, maybe he's trying to lull us all into the false idea that he doesn't have his full attention on his transition and is hoping that our defense won't think he's ready.
I'll go a little simpler with that one. Maybe he's really not ready and just a distraction?
Man I hope he is fielding punts on Labor day. The first time he is back there with the crowd roaring and our guys barreling down at him, I smell a muffed punt.
The way he reaches out for it some gunner is going to just take it away and run into the end zone.
i see what you did there
You smell a muffed what?! oh....nevermind
Another one if anyone cares.
My god, ESPN actually just used footage of Braxton and Galloway like a highlight and broke down Braxton's route running. The commentator said, "Being a former qb, he probably already knows how to run routes since he knows where he should be."
Is this sarcasm? I don't get it. They are spot on, look at all the QBs turned WRs in the NFL, it's a natural transition that requires little effort for success.
Hmm...now I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic...but if not...I think them saying he already knows how to run routes well is being very disingenuous. Actually getting that muscle memory and timing down, knowing how to beat coverage and not get jammed at the line against talented corners, and being able to catch the ball in traffic and be able to take a hit and hold on takes more than a couple months "on the down low" to become really good at. Being a QB and knowing the route tree vs. actually running the routes against talented DBs and LBs are different things. I just thought it was a little bit of a far-fetched statement.
leg for you though ;)
It's ESPN... They'd diagram Urban's next bowel movement to dissect how healthy his diet is and how it could impact their season if Ohio State allowed the footage.
Next, they will probably put Corso and Holtz on him to simulate linebackers and safeties and dissect how great he is catching the ball in traffic. High quality analysis right there.
My $0.02:
Being a selfish college football fan, I don't like this move.
In my world, Braxton would have transferred to another prominent program with a QB deficit, rehabbed appropriately, and then returned to play starting QB.
The dude's a stud athlete, but he's a QB. I don't doubt that he will have some highlights in the role of H-back/WR but damn, he was fun to watch under center.
He was fun to watch at QB because of his running ability. The offense they run doesn't transfer his skill to an NFL QB. I think it is a smart move for him since he was not going to be an NFL QB and he stated he wanted to play in the NFL. He can be a weapon for a team at H-Back, he would be a project at best at QB.
Bit of a problem there: you need a shoulder to be a QB. He's currently a bit short on fully/functioning shoulders.
