Resident Viking fan here....Exum is basically a lock to make the final roster at this point, and is in a strong position to still earn a starting job at SS opposite Harrison Smith. Our GM went out of his way to praise him and mike zimmer has been super high on him, saying he needed to see him tackle live before moving him up the depth chart. Talent wise he probably deserves to be the starter this year, he just has to prove he can be consistent enough.

Looks like Exum read Winston's eyes, rolled coverage in Cover-1. Kaddu blitzing may have informed that decision, too. pic.twitter.com/AYQWfrAb5W— Arif Hasan (@ArifHasanNFL) August 16, 2015

A nole told me after that that we make too much of preseason football. I replied it's about enjoying the sport most of all; and I particularly enjoyed seeing a Hokie make a big play against FSU's first ever first overall draft pick.

That's awesome news to hear after a few injury plagued seasons!
As long as he's playing S in the NFL, he'll be a mainstay for years to come.
I'll root for him 14 out of 16 games every year. #teamPackers
Really glad to see this, Exum represents VT so well.
As a closet redksins fan, maybe I'll pick up an exum jersey
This is the best replay I could find.
niiiiiiicccccccceeeeeeee #DBU
you rang?
Exum also had a fumble recovery in their first preseason game so he is showing a great nose for the ball

Oh, the butthurt.
First of many for both players.
Would have preferred to have seen that at the collegiate level (VT vs FSU), but doesn't detract from my enjoyment of it.

Wait, Winston isn't dominating playing for a team that doesn't have a ridiculous talent advantage against just about every team he plays? Nooooooo. /s
The fact that Exum was the first pick of the first pick just tickles me. Well done, Tone.

If Jameis had been in daycare early on he might not have gotten into so much trouble at FSU.
In an interview after the game Jameis was asked about Exum, he answered: He skrong!
"...we skrong den!"
