Amazingly, the person who has the best attitude about this is Settle himself.
"I want to play, but if I don't, I understand," he said. "They just want to do the best stuff for the team. If I do play this year, I know I won't have a lot of snaps, but I'll have experience."
What an awesome attitude for such an elite level recruit. After a year or two of preparation, and a little bit of weight loss, this guy is going to be a nightmare for the rest of the ACC... and maybe beyond...

the fact that he is so settled on the unsettled outlook regarding his playing time this season is somewhat unsettling, because in the end I think we fans would all like to settle the issue with Settle now and know if we can settle in and watch Settle unsettle opposing offensive lines.

I never thought I'd see so many settlers on this site so unsettled about Settle settling. In any case, it certainly seems best not to meddle with Settle's unsettling settlement.

I got a good chuckle out of the comments and look forward to many more settle jokes. Maybe they'll even eventually replace TE jokes....probably not though.

Honestly, I was just as excited to hear he made the grades and coming this year but lets be real and I think the coaches see this too. 1) Barely squeaked by with his grades to get in, work on the grades and get a good foundation for next season 2) Shed the weight, tone up and get ready to take a huge role in Bristol, VA 3) We have the depth right now so don't let other guys lose reps they have been working for especially if the coaches see Settle #4,5,6 DT. I love high school recruits with big names get a year to observe and learn as we all talked about "What If" Tyrod Taylor didn't have to burn a redshirt... Tim your a great ball player and you got the right mindset work on the grades your Freshmen year and we can't wait to see you destroy some Vols in Bristol!

I agree with dmt260. He barely made it to tech because of grades. Redshirt him and let the young man settle in his freshman year and get some decent grades under his belt. Both he and VT will be better off for it in the future.

As I said from the scrimmage, at this point I think he should redshirt. When it comes to getting comfortable his first year in the classroom and being a college student I'm not sure it helps there. In my experience guys that are taking the shirt seem to struggle a little bit more away from the field and I think part of that is because they don't have much to lose from it on the football field. Not always the case, but that has been my experience more often than not.

I think Shane B and Lefty need to use "The Big Easy" and his fleet feet on ALL 3rd and goal/4th and goal situations in a William "The Refrigerator" Perry capacity (for those of us who remember him from Klempson and Da Bears). Can you imagine a defense trying to keep that load out of the endzone?!?!

If he can play some, play him. If he's healthy. Does anyone think he's going to be at VT for 5 years? If not there's no benefit to red shirting. Personally I think he'lol be a pro after four years at Tech, maybe even 3, it's only a question of whether he is a fourth year junior, or a fourth year senior. A man that size with those feet and that quickness, is elite. What are you saving him for?

his strength level is not close to elite yet. I could see him here 5 years. we have some pretty darn good DTs that are going to make it hard for him to be a starter for a few years.

I really hope "The Big Easy" catches on before "Big Baby" gains any real traction. Otherwise Mike London might sue Tech for trademark infringement.
The Big Ba-beezy?
I have just checked and there is no time for that.

Settle down.
I for one won't settle for less.
Oh man, haven't seen this one before haha

I was waiting for this one :)
I did my best

#SettleforTEWildTurkeyQB
you can't spell settle without TE

FTFY.
And don't you forget it!
Maybe he meant visiting the Shang Hai lunch buffet downtown before the game.
That's good stuff! Highly recommend.
His role?
Forget depth, whether good or bad, if he can play and add more disruption on the field than others, then play him.

It's contagious, I tell ya....

I agree. Plus as much as we have heard him making big plays, we have also heard X Offensive Lineman held his own against Settle.
I'm so excited to have a guy in middle that can get penetration despite being double teamed

Not many D lineman come out early and have a great NFL career as D lineman.

I could easily see him being a 5 year guy.
I agree with you Rick. If he can help some this year, in spot duty, let him. Someone of his caliber is gone after 4 years.
