Torrian Gray Mic'd Up

In a couple of minutes it's easy to see why Torrian is such a terrific coach. He's relatable, relaxed, but doesn't let the important details slide.

Torrian, never leave pls

Every second counts

If he ever left (obviously with a promotion somewhere) what "former" Virginia Tech CB would you want to take his place?

-Semper Primus

Not a CB, but I think the no-brainer answer is Vincent Fuller.

Was ding a ding, dang my dang a long ling long....

Or Kam, after a few more outstanding years in the NFL, which coincide with at least a few more years for TG14 in Blacksburg.

TRIAN PLS

DC please

Just a guy that LOVES football, and extolling that knowledge on others. Positive attitude and a great approach. Loved watching him in a VT helmet, and glad he's got the VT floppy now.

Best of the "mic'd" series so far.

Anyone wanting to understand the leverage technique, listen to this closely. By teaching the hand placement when pressing (and I am still working on this piece), the DBs can play leverage without giving away their technique pre-snap. This is huge, because it can allow the D to disguise their leverage. That is critical to baiting a QB into throwing into a leverage or hide a robber.

I don't but somehow it still makes me happy

Me too! Who wouldn't want to play for this guy?

(Don't like the throw from Brewer...hope it was "placed" in there on purpose.)

to practice throwing pics? Doubt Lefty spends too much time on that.

Of all the mic'd ups, I think that's the ONLY throw Brewer has on tape. I'm hoping they are "hiding" the good stuff and put that pick out there just for bait of some sort. I.e., I hope its the outlier thus far.

Yeah, there was nothing wrong with that throw, it was an outstanding play by Riley.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

This. Sometimes good passes are picked off by great defenses. It would be a floated pass or trying to thread the needle into double coverage that would concern me. I'll take that throw by Brewer all day. There are probably a handful of DBs who could make the play Riley made there.

Here are all the other one's if you've missed them.

lol @ the Stiney's calves jokes

Not the bagman VT deserves, but the bagman VT needs right now.

Shane looks just like his Dad, has his inflection too.

Anyone else see our next DC in this film? I don't know jack about football X's and O's, but his DB results speak for themselves. I hope we keep him for a long, long time...

Assuming a smooth transition to the next head coach and a promotion from within for next DC, I'm so conflicted on if it will be Wiles or Gray.

Brandon Facyson looks very fluid and smooth. As a freshman, he looked awkward as hell, but his closing speed made the difference. If you add technique to that closing speed, oh my. That said, Bonner played as a deep third a bunch Facyson's freshman year as a safety blanket. They will want Chuck Clark to be more active than Bonner had to be against that early schedule where everybody was a spread team back in 2013. That may require Facyson to play a little more conservatively if he doesn't have deep help.

Hey French,
What was Coach Gray yelling about on CJ TD catch? Obviously something went wrong.

Also, Mook Reynolds is going to be a very good player, but Coach Gray was fair in warning him that talking smack to Cody Grimm may not be a good idea.

Its never a good idea

Mook Reynolds definitely looks like a future warden on D Block.

Leonard. Duh.

Had to do this.

When he got on Mook at the end, I peed a little with excitement

YOU LET UP! FINISH THE PLAY

Future DC right there....
