Can the season just start please?
I'm guessing neither of these guys were expected to see playing time vs. OSU?
No, they were buried on the depth chart.
Fisher was the #1 prep player last year. Big expectations but it never panned out.
The article says they requested a transfer. Wasn't the issue their grades were not up to par which would make them ineligible regardless of where they are at?
I hear grades don't matter at UNC.
from my source (same as a couple weeks ago)-- it had to do with credits so they could transfer, not bad grades..
in easy terms athletes have to take 12 credits to be eligible.. if a player drops below that the next semester they must take 12 + amount of credit hours missed.
Say X player took 12 credits, dropped a class so they're at 9 they must take 12+3 more credits come next semester to make up. If X player doesn't finish/pass semester with all 15 credits they're academically ineligible
Hope this doesn't effect special teams!
As far as I know, someone correct me, they have not practiced with team in some time.
Reavis, Keihn, and Fisher were 3 big time, young talents we've lost on D. Next man up.
Fisher and Keihn were both tweeners, neither looked to be big contributors in their careers. Reavis was a big loss however.
keihn was a good ST player though and playing as a true freshmen showed he had some potential IMO.
Where was he showing potential as a position player?
The bright side is we really only had to replace one of them. Keihn was mostly a 2011-Wilson-depth-type player and Fisher was a guy we thought might help out on special teams. The overall talent level in the program has gotten to a point where losing those 2 guys off of special teams shouldn't result in 2013-coverage-teams disaster.
Fisher = Nick Dew
All I can say is that at least the drama regarding Fisher at VT is finally over. Too bad it didn't pan out, but he always seemed just out of reach.
I hear he's taking a year to prep and then he'll be in our next class. Fisher is a big time prospect that we need to get on campus. /s
Same prep school as Drew Harris
Todd Nolen as well to shore up the receiver position.
Old school high five.
If he can work it out, great for everyone, but I'm not holding my breath.
if the scholarship is freed up, Beamer usually gives it to a walk-on entering their Junior or Senior Year. Also an opportunity for others to Step up.
possibly CJ Carrol if he is not already on scholarship yet.
Dang that stings

Just when we learned how to spell Fisher.
