Joe will be announcing an official TKP tailgate soon. But I'll stop by yours also, I'm traveling alone to the game and don't know many VT fans or anything about Blacksburg since the mid 90's.

I'll be there, tailgating in the Cassell lot with my wife's family. The in-laws have an RV and a spot at the airport so I'll be there most of the weekend.

I believe they are members of the "hokie travelers." They usually are parked a few spots to the right of the entrance, by the fence, in a maroon and white class A. We always have plenty of food and drink and the games on outside HDTV so feel free to stop by and have a drink sometime during the weekend. We will probably be there until mid afternoon on game day when we will move to the cassell lot.

I cannot be there, but I started the party tonight. I mean c'mon guys, yall best catch up, it's only two weeks away. And ten minutes. Better get another.

Coming from someone who would skip class because it was tooo pretty of a day, or because the Allman Brothers 8 track would be on and I just didn't want to stop listening, so I would turn around and head back to Giles, or...etc., I would strongly urge you to skip that class.

I'll be in 18 as well, it's a great lot for tailgating. I always have several of Dozers videos & Hokie Prides on my iPad for obvious reasons...
So if you hear your work, come over & let me get you a drink.

I'm going but I need a ticket for my brother. He is a Tennessee Vol Alum, so I want to show him Virginia Tech's atmosphere in all it's glory. My is osbornejeff10@yahoo.com if the ticket is still available. You can also come to my tailgate and eat my food. I'm in Lot 5.

I'll definitely be there. We tailgate in backyard of 2nd house up Southgate drive, across street from German club. There will be spaces for sale (season only) for those like me that can't donate enough to get a close campus spot. There is a space available to join us in our corner at bottom of the yard. It is a great spot, and a 1 beer walk to south end zone. We have firepits, cornhole, shade trees, and all the extras. We always welcome guests.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
She charges 300 for the season. They mark off each space and make sure it stays open for you. There are 80+ spaces in that yard. They take out our trash and provide a few port a john's. Our spaces are at the bottom corner, closest to SEZ and thus we have the trees and drainage ditch for the guys to use between her yard and campus. We leave our grill and firepits there as well. This house is actually closer to the stadium than Litton Reaves. It used to show up on the parking maps. We found it 9 years ago and haven't moved since.

I may have had a beer with you at the freezing Clemson game in 2011? Found a tailgate exactly where you describe while searching (in vain) for another.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I will be there, I feel like this day cannot get here soon enough, 2 weeks is enough to send me into a depression at this point, it's already been long enough!
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
The beer for the walk is actually a tailgate requirement we have. It is truly a great tailgate. We have a grill stored there for gameday staple of beer brats and a pulled pork shoulder to smoke during game, and we are using a turkey fryer for chicken wing buffet, fresh cut fries, and fried twinkies!

Bringing anOSU friend to the game. The psycho is driving up the day of the game from Ft Gordon GA and driving right back after the game for school the next day. Will be dropping by the TKP tailgate

I'll be there . Can't wait to see how OSU travels - I still remember LSU coming to town and how great that was. Think this game could be of that type of weekend fan wise.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yeah, the LSU crowd was the pits. Started out ok, they got there almost a week early and were pretty nice at first. I got invited three times during game week to join them for cajun food and strong drink, and they were all in a good mood and seemed really nice. But, like my daddy used to say, company and dead fish start stinkin' pretty good after three days, the fans' attitudes became less and less civil, though I personally didn't witness the belligerence that obviously peaked the night before the game. After the game, I had several of them claim that we didn't win, that they just beat themselves, and dismissed the pre-game spats as us just not being used to big-time college football. I was happy when they drug their Gypsy caravans out of our parking lots and limped back south.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
That was indeed a crazy week. They basically took the commuter parking lot over, and unfortunately I had to miss a few classes due to this and having to sample their drink and table fair as I searched for a space. After the game, downtown was as crazy as I've ever seen it. Didn't Blacksburg PD have to come out in riot gear? It was pretty epic.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
While I dearly love a good state fair corndog, what I smelled was some damn fine delicious N'awlins cookin'. They definitely got that part right. At the end of it all, though, they just smelled like sore losers to me.

I'll be there with my girlfriend (VT Grad student), my dad (VT alum), and his buddy. We'll be tailgating with some other friends in the Cage (Lot 16). Plenty of home brew, craft brew, and bourbon will be flowing. I'll make sure I stop by the TKP tailgate for a bit though.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I have to be at work at 0200 (2am) Monday morning...FML! I'll probably catch a nap during lunch and power through the game Monday night with the help of Bourbon and 5 hour energy. My body will hate me on Tuesday.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I'll be there, as always. Wouldn't miss this one for the world. Probably tailgating at the Lutheran Church at the corner of Prices Fork and Toms Creek. May try to make it down to the TKP tailgate, though.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I'm going to be there at about 9am to start tailgating. If my group can find tickets that day by either via scalpers or stubhub that aren't going to be a fortune we will go. If not....we will probably just stumble over to downtown and watch it there.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Everyone else is going but I cannot make it. This is how I feel:
But I will be there in spirit, cheering/screaming for the Hokies whilst scaring my children and dogs (my wife is used to it and the cat doesn't give a f*ck).

Count me in as a cricket. The wife and I just couldn't make it work. It probably works out since I can wear my Vick era 7 jersey which is what I wore last year when we won, which clearly means we will win. YOU ARE WELCOME FOR MY SACRIFICE HOKIE NATION.

The wife and I (87/86 grads) will have our Hokie behinds parked on the couch here in Peru screaming our fool heads off, much like the locals whenever the Peruvian national team plays soccer. Nobody will care about our noise, Latinos are uber-passionate about their favorite sport and scream at televisions regularly.
Y'all give those Buckeyes a warm Blacksburg welcome, right up until the game begins when you get to enjoy their salty tears once again.

Edit: And yes, I lied. I have been taking peeks into this thread from time to time. Totally out of boredom. I couldn't care less about all of your game plans.
Bastards.

Future Mrs. VT_Fencer and I will be in attendance, Ag Quad parking pass in hand. We'll get into town pretty early and bounce between her family's tailgate, the TKP tailgate, and downtown with Fencing Club folks.

My dad and I will be there in lot 7, the Vet School Lot. First year in that lot. Unfortunately, my old college bud and his wife (also a Hokie grad), who we have season tickets with won't be there. Her sister is getting married and they have to help set up. Personally, I think that's grounds for kicking her out of the family. And before you beg for his tickets, they're already spoken for, sorry.

When I was in total disbelief that ANYONE would schedule a wedding for the day of the game (unless it was during halftime AT the game) and asking him what the (bad word) she was thinking, all he said was that it was after, and that they had to help set up. He seemed pretty bummed out. I guess he had moved past the 'rage' part of the grief cycle and had moved into the 'depression' part. It really sucks that they can't be there. They live like 6 hours from us and at games is the only times we can get together and hang out.

Got lucky and my father-in-law offered me his extra ticket (granted my wife is mad I'm going without her because she starts her first day teaching the next day and can't go). Will be in the upper SEZ with a great view! Also will probably be tailgating with HokieBone12.

unfortunately, the wife, I, and lizzie can't make it this year, bur we'll be there in spirit, and screamin' out guts out at home watchin it on the big screen......love to all of you who are able to go, and we wish you all safe travels in doing so.....wish i could be there to share some of my homemade belgian trippels like i did last year at the miami game (those that were there know what i'm talkin' about)...have one (or 5 or 6) for me my friends......

How many buckeys do think will be in Lane? Seems over on 11w they will take it over the stadium & it's not gonna be that loud. Can not wait to prove them wrong.

Welcome to TKP. I read a comment on here that said the visiting team was allotted 6000 tickets and you got to figure OSU fans purchased a couple thousand more tickets. So perhaps the ratio will be 8000 OSU fans to 57000 VT faithful.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I'll be there. Only question is to rock the Mexico jersey (which worked in the Horseshoe last year) or rock an Orange VT shirt (which doesn't get quite the fan reaction). That is my only concern for the weekend.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Personal favorites downtown: The Cellar (good wine and beer selection, good food, quieter atmosphere), Rivermill (great beer selection), and TOTS (your classic bar). Hit up the TKP tailgate and meet some fine Hokies.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Awesome. Should be in Blacksburg by 8 am Monday with a college friend and some family. Lookin forward to talkin college Fball with some Hokies and throwin back a few too many cold ones (and hopefully a win for us)!
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Sharkey's is on the corner of Main and College Ave. It's usually pretty packed, but you're bound to run into some Hokies willing to buy you a round of drinks anywhere I'm sure. TOTS is good if they aren't charging cover. Be wary of the drink called the "Rail"... it's 6 shots of rail liquor and a splash of sprite on top. It'll basically do you in for the day/night
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Sounds like the rail may be the drink of choice around 6:30 to get me ready for the game. How tough is it to sneak alcohol into lane? Thinking about grabbing some mini bottles of whiskey or bringing a flask along
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I am waiting for a loan to come in for other reasons, if its in my account friday or possibly monday; I am there. I just have to figure out the ticket issue and the lodging issue for Monday night. Maybe, I can buy some drinks and convince someone to let me sleep on their floor.

Hey ya'll...I don't have enough Turkey Legs to start a new topic yet (I LOVE this forum but I usually don't comment) so i figured this would be the best place to let you know that my band RUTLEDGE will be playing right outside GATE 3 Monday night from 6pm-7:30pm. We're a modern country band that sounds more like a rock band. Below is a video we did with VT before the UVA game last year. Spread the word, hope some of you will swing by and listen to us for a bit. Thanks! GO HOKIES! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjv3Lt95npk

My wife, son, and I just moved back to the east coast (Charlotte) this summer, after 10 years in Los Angeles. Haven't been to Lane for a game since '04. I've watched almost every game since then & have been an avid reader of TKP each year... Have been addicted to the Hokies since being a kid, watching DeShazo. Great to be back in the south, especially during football season.
I just bought tickets today for our return to Lane... Section 12 Row JJ. Let's be honest, after the past decade of being away, I'd be jumping out of the bleachers, losing my mind, and hoarse for the Furman game. I can't believe THIS is the first game we get to see live @ Lane after 10 seasons.
Don't know how I'm going to be productive the rest of the week. Seriously, no clue. Can't wait to fall back in ranks and scream alongside you guys again Monday night.
Enter Sandman on repeat. Hair on the arms won't go down, and I'm totally OK with that.

I just got my tickets and hotel room, I've been talking to everyone and their mother about it. I haven't been to Lane since the hurricane that came through in 2010 when we were playing Miami.

I'll be there. Hopefully I'll meet some of Yall there. I'm wondering if they will let me in wearing my "Stick it in" shirt.
Is that orange? For some reason I can only picture it in maroon with orange writing. Not sure If i'm remembering it wrong or if they made both
Both colors are available.
I'm debating on if I want to wear my orange "Stick It In" shirt or the "Time To Go To Work" Orange Effect Shirt.
I believe I'll be wearing the "Time to Go to Work" shirt
I'll be jumping on the SGA offer of combining both the Orange and Maroon Effect shirts for 18 bucks
Me, too. Can't beat that price.
Sadly, I'll be wearing mine at home.
At least the walk from the tailgate to the seat isn't too far, since they're both in the living room, and the food and beer are exactly what I want them to be.
Not sure if you're being serious but they haven't banned the shirt, the MVs just don't do the cadence anymore.
Me!!!!!
Btw-anybody want to organize tailgate(s)?
I'm in Lot 8 (Litton Reeves). Usually get a good/flat spot that backs up to grass.
Joe will be announcing an official TKP tailgate soon. But I'll stop by yours also, I'm traveling alone to the game and don't know many VT fans or anything about Blacksburg since the mid 90's.
I'm going and am new to campus and don't currently have any acquaintances here. I'll be at TKP tailgate.
I will be at the game with the lady. We will stop by the tailgate for sure. Any TKPers who are also in the Clan (Clash of Clans) going?
Me.
Did somebody say HOG RIDER!?

I'll be there in Lot 18 Duck Pond.
I am! By replying here I won't have to scroll to the bottom!
What COC clan are you all in?
The Key Play
Actually, I'm not going to the game, but thanks for asking.

And this will be the last time I open this thread.
Who's***
You must be stoned, HokieStoned
I'll be there, tailgating in the Cassell lot with my wife's family. The in-laws have an RV and a spot at the airport so I'll be there most of the weekend.
We RV in the Airport lot and have been there for the past 4+ years. Are the in-laws part of the "Clubhouse Tailgate" or one of the other groups?
I believe they are members of the "hokie travelers." They usually are parked a few spots to the right of the entrance, by the fence, in a maroon and white class A. We always have plenty of food and drink and the games on outside HDTV so feel free to stop by and have a drink sometime during the weekend. We will probably be there until mid afternoon on game day when we will move to the cassell lot.
Will be there. Probably hanging out downtown before the game.
I'll be there! Live right near campus, so the party starts Sunday night
FTFY.
I cannot be there, but I started the party tonight. I mean c'mon guys, yall best catch up, it's only two weeks away. And ten minutes. Better get another.
Done
Some of us have an 8 am Bio class (not at Tech) on Tuesday morning...
If there was ever a class to skip...Trust me, as an alum, you only get so many of these. This could be epic.
Coming from someone who would skip class because it was tooo pretty of a day, or because the Allman Brothers 8 track would be on and I just didn't want to stop listening, so I would turn around and head back to Giles, or...etc., I would strongly urge you to skip that class.
I get the reference (have an 8-track leg!), but you just confused about 90% of TKP with that. They have no idea what an 8-track tape is (was).
In '72, it was da bomb!
Indeed. You always hoped that the song you really liked didn't end up being the one that spanned two tracks.
I'll be there showing anOSU folks what a home field advantage looks like
Me. got a parking/tailgating spot at Smithfield Plantation or lot 18 is what they are calling it?
I'll be in 18 as well, it's a great lot for tailgating. I always have several of Dozers videos & Hokie Prides on my iPad for obvious reasons...

So if you hear your work, come over & let me get you a drink.
I'll be there. Going alone. Have a ticket for sale.
What are you selling out for?
I bought 2 sets of season tix, but I am the only one going to OSU.
Totally meant what are you selling it for.
I don't now. I was going to try to get 200, but may come down a bit.
How do I reach you?
I need a ticket! Email me! jpalmer0030[@]gmail(.com)
Without the brackets and parentheses, of course.
I'll be there. Plan to hit downtown till mid afternoon and then stumble into someone's awesome tailgate. Anyone need company?
Due to the incredible generosity of a couple friends with extra tickets, I'll be there. I tailgate with them in Litton reeves lot.
Woooo. Lot 8 represent!
Will be there. Can't wait.
Be in lot 5...Hokie Hill ez-up along south gate
Are you the one with Hokie Hill on their tent? We usually tailgate right at the top of that hill as well. Love that spot.
Ill be there! Not sure where, but THERE! Somewhere that is There!
I am appreciating the usage of beer consumption as a measure of distance
What's the going rate for said spaces?
She charges 300 for the season. They mark off each space and make sure it stays open for you. There are 80+ spaces in that yard. They take out our trash and provide a few port a john's. Our spaces are at the bottom corner, closest to SEZ and thus we have the trees and drainage ditch for the guys to use between her yard and campus. We leave our grill and firepits there as well. I may have had a beer with you at the freezing Clemson game in 2011? Found a tailgate exactly where you describe while searching (in vain) for another.
We were there, probably near a firepit or two. Glad you stopped by and feel free to return. We get better with age!
Ill be there, section 20, row EEE..... getting liqored up in German club parking beforehand, starting at 6 am..... lehhgo
I will be there, I feel like this day cannot get here soon enough, 2 weeks is enough to send me into a depression at this point, it's already been long enough!
First time in Lane in 2 years and 3rd in 5. Can't wait!
Won't be in the stadium but thinking about tailgating for awhile.
YEP! I got myself a mini plan.
My Ass Pocket has been waiting for this. I will be there with bells on (read a large keychain).
Will you be there with an ass pocket full of whiskey perchance?
It's not just a clever name.
Going with a group of 8, renting a house. Hokies coming from KY, TN, IL, MA and VA!
Student season tickets...best deal ever right?
Waiting on section maybe NEZ like last year, but im cool with east too.
Found out I'm going to be there as of last week! If I play my cards right, I might even get a cameo in next years bilddozer season trailer.
Section 15 represent!
I'll be there. West stands, right on the South goal line
That's where I'm at! Section 20. What row?
Bringing anOSU friend to the game. The psycho is driving up the day of the game from Ft Gordon GA and driving right back after the game for school the next day. Will be dropping by the TKP tailgate
Will be a sad ride back to GA.
Myself and the future Mrs. Fett Man will be there.
I'll be there in the glorious Touchdown Terrace of the SEZ.
I scored a pair at face value. I can't wait.
I paid way more than face, but bought mine in April. They're selling for twice as much in the same row!
The wife, myself, and plenty of family and friends will be there, tailgating at Chicken Hill lot and representing in Section 13! It's Time!
Tickets secured. Parking and which orange t-shirt are the only two unknowns left.
I'll be there bright and early in Lot 9!
See you tomorrow morning then!
I'll be there, tailgating behind the woods towards the top of the hill
Waiting on the student season tickets to come in... hoping for East stands.
Let me know when you find out. :)
Unpopular opinion: East > North

wow, I didn't have the courage to say it. Praise be!
I'll be there . Can't wait to see how OSU travels - I still remember LSU coming to town and how great that was. Think this game could be of that type of weekend fan wise.
I certainly hope not. Crowds of unruly fans fighting on Main Street would not be good...

You mean, you are wearing that under your orange shirt, right?
Orange effect game, bud.
I assume that is your tailgating shirt
I'll be there, as always. Wouldn't miss this one for the world. Probably tailgating at the Lutheran Church at the corner of Prices Fork and Toms Creek. May try to make it down to the TKP tailgate, though.
that's a stone's throw from my house! OK, well maybe if Logan was throwing
My Spirit is willing, but my wallet is weak.
I hear it's going to be televised...
There's a way for all wallet strengths.
True, but the question was who is going to be there.
I was just trying to ease the blow...
I have two kids in college.....my wallet isn't weak, it's been hijacked.
Me!
couchsurfing in blacksburg and watching the game downtown unless i find a ticket that i don't need to take out a mortgage for.
see you all there!!
Will be there with my wife. She is a Buckeye; Lord help us regardless of outcome.
Well if they win, maybe you'll still win. If you win though, you will probably lose.
I'm going to be there at about 9am to start tailgating. If my group can find tickets that day by either via scalpers or stubhub that aren't going to be a fortune we will go. If not....we will probably just stumble over to downtown and watch it there.
I'll be there. Hopefully there isn't too much red throughout the stadium.
Unless it is the blood of the vanquished Buckeyes.
(That may be a bit too far. Also, I may be a little too excited for this game)
Headed down Saturday morning.
Same crew that made the trip to Columbus.
Here's the the same result.
Everyone else is going but I cannot make it. This is how I feel:
But I will be there in spirit, cheering/screaming for the Hokies whilst scaring my children and dogs (my wife is used to it and the cat doesn't give a f*ck).
So what you're saying is, it's going to be you, me, and the crickets on the gameday thread here, huh?
I'll stop by at half time to let you know how AWESOME it is.

There. Lot 16 gating.
So is this where I beg for tickets????

In! Will be in the 'burg by Friday night, watching games on Saturday, hiking on Sunday, beating Ohio State on Monday.

I actually don't have a ticket for the game. First time in many years where I haven't been able to secure one for a home game.
I hope this holds true for many anOSU fans also.
Same here...
I'll be there. Driving up from Michigan as early as I can get up Monday morning. And y'all do realize that this thread is going to have like 66,000 comments, right?
Wouldn't it be driving DOWN from Michigan?...
Without looking at a topo map, I would guess Michigan is at a lower elevation so technically he's correct to say "driving up".
My maps are all flat.
You must have one of those 3D printers.
Ooooh, what have we here? What's the hubbub?
I drive down from the north.
I'm #teamcake, and I endorse this message.
Edit: And yes, I lied. I have been taking peeks into this thread from time to time. Totally out of boredom. I couldn't care less about all of your game plans.
Bastards.
#Teampie because
Bacon Pie
Try that with cake. HA!
Future Mrs. and I have are driving UP from Ohio, seeing as VT owns this state :O
And before you beg for his tickets, they're already spoken for, sorry.
is this a mid-week wedding? Just wondering how big a wedding it would have to be to have to set up the Monday before if it was a saturday wedding.
They live like 6 hours from us and at games is the only times we can get together and hang out.
ok, that's just a crap move all the way around.
I'll be there with 2 buddies that graduated with me.
I'll be there. It will be the first home game I have ever attended!
...this season.
Got lucky and my father-in-law offered me his extra ticket (granted my wife is mad I'm going without her because she starts her first day teaching the next day and can't go). Will be in the upper SEZ with a great view! Also will probably be tailgating with HokieBone12.
My fiance and I will be there, 5 days before our wedding. Hopefully the entire week will go down as a memorable one!
Remember the answer to the question. " What was the best part of that week" is NOT VT beating anOSU again.
Actually, that very well may be the answer, he just can't admit it out loud.
Several of my friends and I are going to the actual game while some more of our friends are coming just to tailgate.
unfortunately, the wife, I, and lizzie can't make it this year, bur we'll be there in spirit, and screamin' out guts out at home watchin it on the big screen......love to all of you who are able to go, and we wish you all safe travels in doing so.....wish i could be there to share some of my homemade belgian trippels like i did last year at the miami game (those that were there know what i'm talkin' about)...have one (or 5 or 6) for me my friends......
7 of us coming from dublin/radford area. Parking @ airport lot around 11am (great tailgating). 12 more days. Can...not..wait. Lane will be crazy as ever.
Buddy canceled. Have a free ticket to the OSU game. Just gotta put up with me for 3.5 hours. I'm driving down from front royal if you wanna ride. PM me at vtlongbarr@gmail.com
You just became alot of people's best friend.
probably just one. The rest are pissed and bitter.
Not going to make it to the game, but I took Tuesday off work and I'm looking for the bar in Richmond with the most Hokies.
I'll be there. Only question is to rock the Mexico jersey (which worked in the Horseshoe last year) or rock an Orange VT shirt (which doesn't get quite the fan reaction). That is my only concern for the weekend.
Stick with what works...

Just picked up my season tickets for East Stands and M1 pass.
I'll be in my usual spot in 502 of the south end zone and I couldn't be any more pumped! Let's go!
Howdy, Hokies! What bars and tailgating areas should I check out? I'm a year out of college and looking for one hell of a Monday
Personal favorites downtown: The Cellar (good wine and beer selection, good food, quieter atmosphere), Rivermill (great beer selection), and TOTS (your classic bar). Hit up the TKP tailgate and meet some fine Hokies.
Awesome. Should be in Blacksburg by 8 am Monday with a college friend and some family. Lookin forward to talkin college Fball with some Hokies and throwin back a few too many cold ones (and hopefully a win for us)!
Sounds like the rail may be the drink of choice around 6:30 to get me ready for the game. How tough is it to sneak alcohol into lane? Thinking about grabbing some mini bottles of whiskey or bringing a flask along
Cake
I'll be there. Tailgating in Lot 5, but getting there pretty early... when does everyone else think the lots will begin to fill up?
Thanks! GO HOKIES!

Giddy up! I'll be there with two old roommates, all descending on Blacksburg (and Roanoke) to dance the dance like old times. Hope to see some of you tailgating or in Section 20!
SO FIRED UP FOR THIS.
Everyone have their tickets yet? Not much longer, 3 days 6 hours 56 mins 20 seconds till kickoff.
Just started new job out-of-Commonwealth (first real life adult job) mid-August. Two days in, asked for Tuesday after Labor Day off for this game.
Boss said I needed to be in my seat at Lane.
I just got my tickets and hotel room, I've been talking to everyone and their mother about it. I haven't been to Lane since the hurricane that came through in 2010 when we were playing Miami.
