Center Jacoby Bowen, JT, Offensive Tackle Taylor Decker, LB Joshua Perry, WR Braxton Miller and S Tyvis Powell.

That about settles that.

Hm... I'm guessing that clears things up

I believe OSU has had non-starting QBs listed as captains before, so it really doesn't. That being said, I still believe Barrett is their guy.

stick it in, stick it in, stick it in!

That could be a sign JT is starting the first game.It doesn't really matter OSU has so many weapons that VT better be prepared for all their trick plays whoever is the QB. GO HOKIES!

Will Virginia Tech do permanent captains this year? Or rotate around most of the seniors and a select few non seniors?

Read that headline wrong. Still doesn't say who starter will be. Doesn't mean Miller will be a starter

Jones big frame has me more worried.

Not surprised by this whatsoever, BUT I still think 100% we see Jones on the field in some way shape or form before the first quarter is over...... if we allow their offense to have the ball of course!

That's been my gut all along, but there has been some indication lately that JT and Cardale prefer there to be a starter and a back up, and that there not be a 2 QB system - and Urban has said that's what he prefers. Urban, despite what many think, is a pretty straight shooter. He tends to tell you what he thinks and avoids coach-speak and subterfuge.

However, Cardale has too much talent to sit and wait for an injury or mop-up duty - and he needs to play in order to maintain a high draft position. Urban owes him for last year, so I gotta believe he is going to play. What that will exactly look like in terms of when, what circumstances, how frequent, etc. - I have no idea. But it will be interesting to find out on Labor Day.

JT being a captain is a no-brainer. Any casual fan can see his leadership qualities. He will read defenses better and have more of the playbook open, but I have felt since the end of last year that he would be the main guy because of his leadership abilities.

And obviously there is the reason he was starting over Cardale when Miller went down. JT was the #2 for a reason until Miller went down and then he was the #1. When JT went down Jones came in and performed as good as you could hope any backup to perform. I've always thought JT would be the starter this year. Cardale may play in select packages or situations but there is no way that he unseats JT as the starter IMO. JT had him beat as the starter all last year until Jones was forced into action.

Cardale was the #2 in spring ball last year JT was 3rd.

JT took over the back up role in fall camp just before Braxton was injured.

I always got the feeling Meyer didn't think Cardale was mature enough nor the most athletic which is why Barrett was annointed #2.

Cardale is going to take a Kenny Guiton role. Respect the hell out of KG.

We moved the ball pretty well on them last yr with bosa, just curious why their d will be so much better without him?

While he will be missed, the safeties and linebackers went from young and inexperienced in the beginning of last year to "the best defense I've ever been around" if you ask Urban.

And he is the one who coached the 2008 Florida team who were just nasty on defense.

I'm not sure if the defense will be at the level it was the last half of the season (due to Bosa) but they will certainly be more improved than the team you faced last year.

Von Bell (safety) and Darron Lee went from underclassmen who never started a game to probable first round locks after this season.

Not to discount the improvement of your guys but we'll be throwing to a few sophmores who themselves might have improved. I'm thinking our offense just might be the real surprise of the evening. Will be a super challenge whatever.

Yup, a lot of people are assuming Virginia Tech will bring the 7-6 team of last year... Not me.

Me either.

While Bosa will definitely be missed, out MLB and CB/S play should be better as they improved significantly throughout the year. Washington can go back to DT where he is believed to be better than NG where he played last year. Overall, it's a more experienced line that has played together more than when we played you last year. So it's not so much theta they will be better without Bosa but that there are strengths that can compensate for his not playing against you guys.

Trevor knight is a captain for Oklahoma but Baker Mayfield is their starter so it shows being a captain doesn't automatically make you a starter when there's a Qb competitionthat, although either way I still assume that JT will be the guy

Good for him, still believe we will see all 3 at QB before the end of the 4th quarter because Urbie is kind of tricky like that and all 3 QB's present different challenges...

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:

Why would Joey Burrows get in the game?

Not said with any ego about it, but I have a feeling that Bud knew that Barrett was going to be the starter all along and has been planning for it all along.
