Weather and clothing advice for season

After buying the mini pass I realized I will not be able to wear my sandals, shorts and T shirt I wear every day here at the ocean. What should I expect weather wise for the anOSU game, the Pitt game Oct 3rd(day before bday) and Doookk Oct 24? Thanks TKP nation.

It's Blacksburg. Any prediction more than 48 hr in advance is useless :)

Generally, I would expect moderate temps for the OSU game, chilly but not awful on 10/3, and probably cold by 10/24. Anything else, I defer to our local meteorologist eshiben.

Haven't lived in VA since 2008 I've forgotten what "chilly" and "cold" are by VA standards. Seven years in Ohio with temps being below zero and well below with windchill means cold is FING cold and being in SC now cold is below 50. So at least for anOSU game what temp range am I looking at when game kicks off? 60's or 50's?

Forecast is calling for a low around 60 that night with a pretty good chance of rain. Last Labor Day game I was in Blacksburg (GT in 2012), I recall a very mild night, probably around 70, and I was comfortable in a T-shirt and shorts through the duration of the game.

Kickoff temperature? I'll take a gander at the extended outlook tonight and talk with some friends I was gonna make the forecast friday

I actually just went and looked at the 10 day forecast earlier today, because the game is within 10 DAYS, and there's a 50% chance of a thunderstorm at 8 PM. But let's be real, that's 8 days out.

100% chance of severe whoopass is what I heard.

Calling eshiben....

Seriously though... I need to start packing soon for the first game... Where's the weather report?

Can confirm

For a night game in the Burg, you won't be hot in the sun. Pack a pair of jeans, some sturdy footwear, a T shirt, long sleeve shirt and a sweatshirt. You have it all covered. Flimsy footwear in crowds and in the dark is not smart, and no need for shorts at night. You can fold and sit on the sweat shirt, but if you need it, you'll be glad you have it.

I think he's talking about the October game.

September nights in B'burg can still be chilly. Add in a little mist or light rain, and you have the potential for being less than comfortable if improperly clad. When I was guiding on the New River, I always told my clients to check the forecast first. If they are calling for 60, come prepared to dress for 40 and hope for 50. You can take it off, but you can't go back to the car and get it if you need it. I have seen a lot of people buying sweatshirts and ponchos during halftime because of underestimating the chill factor a mist and some breeze can bring with it. Yeah, bourbon and a victory can definitely keep you warm, but I prefer to hedge my bets. Plus, the more you have on, the easier it is to mule in those airplane bottles!

Umm, sit? I guess you can do that during halftime if you want.

10 day forecasts aren't always particularly accurate if you're seeing 50 percent that's more than likely saying a model or two has shown a system coming into the area and some upper level winds pulling it in, but again a lot can happen and a lot cannot happen. Trust me I've got a good weather report to kick start the season. Just waiting for the window to become clear. Sorry I couldn't answer earlier I was out at a lake today. Wisconsin is beautiful by the way

Its best to bring different clothes for all weather conditions for any game October and beyond. You can just change accordingly in the parking lot before you go in

@VTimHokie85

Somehow I've missed four named storms and the fifth (Erika) is already falling apart. Usually I'm on top of these things; must not have come near enough.

I live in bedford, nights have beenn in the upper 60's/low 70's for a couple weeks, cools off once te sun goes down. I would wear sneakers regardless. I am tailgating in shorts, and watching JT pick Worsam Field grass out of his facemask in jeans. Take a long sleeve shirt in case it's chill.

Its a Labor Day game in bburg...it's gonna rain

Late night weather discussion, I'm just really not seeing it...of course we are a week out but still let me put it to you this way the Euro has us getting a couple hundreths of an inch every day starting friday and running through thursday which is such a minute amount its not anything to get your panties in a bunch about. It could also be something that the model just has screwed up. I'm no expert on writing the Euro, but I'm willing to bet it has some sort of parameter thats just making it freak out a little bit down the line in its predictions.

furthermore I can not stress enough that model data this far in advance is not reliable, so lots of things could still change I'm just thinking that based on some upper air charts and the current map itll probably be a partly cloudy, but somewhat chilly night (think low 60s high 50s...which actually sounds kinda nice to me)

Guess.

Dress in layers, keep your body moving after the sun goes down. Drink and dance in the stands as much as possible. Especially if anyone from an OSU asks you to sit down.
