ESPN: Greyson Lambert Wins Georgia Bulldogs Starting QB Job
Greyson Lambert went from starting for a bottom-feeding ACC team and losing the QB battle over the spring with the same bottom-feeding ACC team, to transferring to UGA over the summer and now being named the starter for a #9 preseason ranked SEC team. That is quite the journey.
I'm not sure if this says more about how bad UVA is developing their QBs or how dire UGA's QB situation is. Track record leans towards the former than the latter.

This is a little shocking to me, although with actual talent around him Lambert could really step up.
As a Georgia fan, this makes me wince
me too. I thought Ramsey was in position to win that battle easily.
I don't think Lambert is a bad player, but I thought Ramsey should be better. Anyway, just a one year place holder for Easton anyway.
Agreed.
Lambert definitely traded up. I'd like to see him light it up for the Dawgs.
He left UVA so by default it is a trade up.
It's like being the geeky or ungainly awkward kid in school, then hitting a growth spurt, turning into a hunk, and having the cutest cheerleader decide to make you her boyfriend.
TIMEOUT!
UVA kills talent but Lambert was smart to transfer because he wont face a duo as deadly as Dadi & ken in the SEC.
Any time Georgia is brought up, I immediate begin quoting this guy. "The white is the base coat".... "Spurrrrrriierrrr, you think visors are cool?" Damn this kid. If you are bored, here is the vid.

Better keep that head on a swivel...
Saw this late last night on r/cfb
Seemed like a mixed bag on how shocked DAWGS fans are. I for one, was very shocked. I'm not sure which reaction is appropriate for this:
-That the few kids Georgia had in the system didn't have the skills/knowledge to be the starter after a few years with the program and got beat out by a graduate transfer from an ACC bottom feeder.
-Lambert's skillset/leadership has now tricked Mark Richt as well as Time Cop
-UVA wastes potential almost as well as da U
I'll say, having watched limited UVA action over the last 2 seasons.. I bet Matt Johns winds up making some noise in the ACC this season. That kid is a playmaker and should have been starting for them long ago. Lets hope he is riding the struggle bus hard come late November.
He might not make it through the season healthy if he's the starter Game 1
This is true, Johns gets out of the pocket well but takes some big hits in that space.
You have to wonder how Lambert might have done with a half decent O-line. We'll see how he fares behind a far more talented line at Georgia.
To be fair, I think UGA has a new OC, so Lambert wasn't really at a disadvantage transferring in compared to the guys who were already there in regards to learning the playbook.
no, he's disadvantaged because he has to unlearn everything he's been taught the last couple years at LOLUVa /s
Pretty much sums up UVA coaching
This can't be a good sign for the Dawgs.
I'm now predicting Georgia is about to swirl down into mediocrity ala LOLUVA and GT begins their own decade of dominance.
Don't bet on it. GT steals a win vs. UGA occasionally, but there's a reason it's rare. Georgia is loaded with talent. UGA gets theirs.
And it's a standard provision in any UGA coaches contract...lose to the Bugs twice, and your run out of town after being tarred and feathered.
Richt has already lost to GT twice. Maybe you meant twice in a row.
Also, Georgia has a ton of talent, but I have the suspicion that UGA fans will miss Bobo more than they realize.
You bite your tongue!
To think that if LOLUVA fans actually supported their football team half as much as Hokie Fans then this would much sweeter but I am pretty sure they are too busy ironing their sweater vest, water proofing their loafers, and stocking up on Mango Mike's Hard Lemonade to care.
But I can at least laugh.
Lambert only needs to follow 3 steps. 1. call hike 2. hand ball off and 3. run in opposite direction like a dufus.
It will be interesting to see if the stench of mediocrity follows him to Athens.
You would think the UVA odor would be hard to wash off
Lambert is clearly a pretty good QB as he just won a competition against pretty highly regarded guys.
At Georgia he will fit the typical SEC mold...strong running game, heavy dose of high % play action passes. Lambert in my opinion has the same or better physical tools as Aaron Murray, AJ McCarron, Zach Mettenberger, etc, etc, etc. I wouldn't be surprised to see him have a very successful year and make it to the NFL.
At UVA he had a piss poor OL, questionable skill players, and a coaching circus. Kid made a smart decision.
Here's to hoping Matt Johns tweaks a hamstring or gets turf toe (would never wish a serious injury on a kid) and we get to watch the funniest backup QB situation in college football.
Highly regarded guys? Currently? By whom?
Anyone can hand the ball to Chubb 40 times a game.
UGA really only needs a 1 year guy as Eason will likely start at QB once on campus next year.
In other UVA castoff news, Phillip Sims is actually giving Logan Thomas a good competition for the 3rd string spot for the Cardinals.
Ugh Logan went from being Jaws favorite rookie QB during the preseason to being so unreliable that they didn't trust him enough to replace a guy who had like 90 total yards of offense when he started (Lindley). Now this?
Everett Golson will be starting for FSU.
