Hokie Tracks are trying to Follow David Wilson but are Blinded by his Bling

Virginia Tech Hokies football, basketball, athletics blog and forum featuring: unique columns, breaking news, film studies, in-depth analysis, recruiting, videos and jokes.

The mainstream media has used the following outline to guide their thesis, or supporting argument for any piece on Virginia Tech football this offseason.

  1. Write an article about the Hokies.
  2. Compare Logan Thomas to Cam Newton.
  3. ????
  4. PROFIT!!!

If Thomas does do something magical like guide us to a national championship, I agree with Furrer4Heisman, he'd be more like our own Tee Martin.

Roc Carmichael's career may be on hold at the moment, but his journey leading to being drafted by 127th overall by the Texans is respectable. Through Roc, Rick Maese gives us a glimpse through the keyhole into what it takes to become a professional athlete.

Heather Dinich voted Tyrod Taylor as the ACC's toughest player to replace.

Making the case for Taylor: Taylor's impact went beyond the field and in the huddle. He was the winningest quarterback in school history, but he was also the heart of the offense and a leader on the team when it needed it most. Last season, when the Hokies lost to James Madison, Taylor was one of the seniors who asserted himself and let the rest of the team know the season wasn't over. He made the right decisions off the field and was a game-changer on it. Taylor's ability to scramble and make plays with his feet likely won't be duplicated by Logan Thomas, as they both have different strengths. Taylor definitely left Thomas a blueprint for success.

If LT3 can only do one thing as well as Tyrod, let it be having command of the huddle. There's no doubt in my mind Thomas' got all the right tools in his bag, but we won't know how the other ten guys on the field react to his play under center until September. I have no reason to believe Thomas hasn't earned/won't earn the trust of his teammates. It's just that most important intangible is a main concern of mine that waits to be seen.

And this is how the Shelbyville Civil War began. (H/T jpcvt)

By a more than two-to-one margin, West Virginia University fans who filed public comments on the proposal to sell beer at athletic events said they oppose the plan.

Opponents said they would stop coming to games, cancel season tickets and even suspend donations to the university.

Many of them said fans already are too rowdy and that WVU officials have failed for years to control drunken hooliganism at games. Selling beer during games would only make matters worse, they said.

The east laid claim to the turnip fields, procuring their bitter nectars for consumption. With onions affixed to their belts the west prioritized taking the high ground at the falls, while the east settled on the stronghold at rolling rock. No couch will be safe.
