A friend sent me a link this morning to this great article on CFB. I didn't see it on TKP, so apologies if I missed it.

But, no apology really for sharing an article that recognizes publicly what we all know and hopefully never forget -- we have a living legend at the helm of VT football...

Says Jim Pyne, who started at center on the 1992 team before going on to play eight seasons in the NFL: "[Beamer is the] best coach, by far, that I've ever been around. He's an even better person. He's a genuine, sincere guy. He is Virginia Tech."

Old news to most of us, he was a class act in school and has been a great coach. What is better than that, he is a much better person than he is a coach.

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"
