Although shocking, electrifying, whatever you may call it, seems like it would be a distraction for the team. I imagine it would have to be a pregame (game day) concert or halftime appearance though, not the actual entrance...in which case the team wouldn't even be there.

puuuump the brakes!!! I seriously doubt Metallica will perform. Don't get peoples' hopes up. I'm willing to wager the 4 hotel rooms were checked out by fans pulling a prank. If that's not the case it's probably a fabricated rumor. 1) they would probably have a bus. 2) I don't think the whole band/crew could occupy just 4 rooms. 3) If Whit said they're not coming, then they're not coming.

I see enough wiggle room in that answer. The question doesn't specifically state Metallica would be using that stage.
The answer doesn't explicitly say that Metallica won't be using that stage on Monday. It's primary set up is for ESPN (which is true), and Metallica is not currently on it (at the exact moment of that answer, it was true).
That's just one way of looking at it though.

I could see this. Whit invited them not for them to put on a full show but to come down for the weekend and see the game, a break from their tour. This could be a relationship building to play next year against Tennessee! They would just play the intro for us and then take their seats to watch an amazing game!

I have a friend that works the front desk at hotel roanoke and she said 4 guests were picked up at the airport and we're staying in their best rooms BUT she will not tell me who they are, I tried to get it out of her and she wasn't having any of it. So there is that for what it's worth.

Not sure how big of a tradition the National Anthem performance is for you guys, (I know you play it but didn't know if you had 1 person every time), but I could see them doing the anthem and doing the intro like some others had talked about. When they played it in San Fran it was a couple guitars and amps hooked up to the stadiums sound system.
