The thought just came back to me about Bill Roth

He won't be on the radio tomorrow. It hit me again this morning watching the Tech Sports Show and John Lasser was the host as Bill did for years. It saddens me because I cannot remember listening to a Hokie FB /BB game without him. How many years has it been? Happy that he has a hot young QB to follow! Talk to a hoo!

Actually JL did a pretty good job on the show this morning. We just have to start associating great sports moments with his voice. I say tomorrow would be a great place to start.

Agreed, this will be sad.
However, look on the bright side:
VT won zero national championships when Roth was announcing the Hokies.
We now have Lasser, so a change must pay dividends...?

I had the pleasure of meeting John Laaser a few weeks ago during a VT facility tour. He was a gracious host and a really nice guy. He mentioned that everyone at Virginia Tech, including the fan base, has been so welcoming and supportive. He was genuinely appreciative of how great the VT fans have been to him. He also talked about how much he respects Bill Roth, and that he will be using phrases that differ a little from those that Roth used. He said that he respected Bill and therefore did not want to copy his material. I think he'll do great at Virginia Tech and already seems like a true Hokie!

So...what are some alternate phrases for "Touchdown Tech!" that John could make famous in this new era?

(He said he called a game [osu?] for practice back in the spring, any audio/video available?)
